It's hockey, when things break down, bad stuff happens. If Girardi took a peek up ice before, or even as he turned, the hit could have been avoided. If Lundqvist was communicating forecheckers, the hit could have been avoided. I'm sick and tired of all of the onus being on the hitter and none on the guy getting hit. Awareness and communication both would have stopped the hit from happening or at least made it a lot less solid and brutal.

Thanks, I was wondering what the rules were on this. Hopefully he can work hard with Blash in the next two weeks on learning the system and come back up with more confidence and have some stuff figured out. Hopefully playing real hockey will help him rediscover his game. If not, does anyone else get the feeling that they're trying to see what he can do in game action before deciding whether to actually waive him or not?

Larkin has a ways to go to become captain. He's a humble and hard working kid but I don't know if I'd throw the leader tag on him just yet.

I've said before he's not a good defenseman. I said it in the offseason and I said it last season. He's overrated because he's big.

Krsmith I usually agree with you, you make a lot of sense. But. Ericsson is not a good defenseman. He and Smith have the same problem in that their mental game simply isn't there. He makes WAY too many boneheaded plays for me to consider him solid. Smith has been better but his head still isn't all there and he's still not producing points. Defenseman I trust on this team are Dekeyser, Kronwall and Quincey. If we had a real solid defense Kronwall and Dekeyser would be the top pair and Ericsson would be our 5th defenseman. Which is what he is in my opinion. A decent 5th defenseman.

IIRC it was together for a bit last season too and didn't do a whole lot. Hence why it wasn't together very long.

Incorrect. Offensively, yes, Jurco is better than Miller. Good thing we're not paying Miller to score goals and play the power play. We're paying him to play defensive hockey, shut down whoever he's out against, not take penalties, kill penalties. In those aspects I'd take Miller over Jurco 100/100 times right now. I fully expect Jurco to go to GR when Franzen comes back, and based on everyones play so far this year and the reasoning I gave before the season even started, that's how it should be.

Agreed. I fully expect healthy lines to look something like Franzen-Z-Gus Abby-Pav-Tatar Sheahan-Helm-Nestrasil Miller-Glendening-Andersson Until Weiss proves that he's still a better option that Nestrasil at which point hopefully Helm moves to wing and Weiss can center the third line.

Tootoo never should have made the hit, the guy wasn't anywhere close to the puck. And for the Hamonic fight, it was stupid. I'm all for fighting if the hit was dirty, but it wasn't. It was just hard. News flash, if you don't want to get hit keep your head up. If you're skating with the puck with your head down you deserve to get rocked, and he got what he deserved.
