Curtis Glencross regrets taking hometown discount
chaps80 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Does'nt make me bitter because I think they make too much money. If people want to pay them that much, have fun. How do I pay any of their salaries? Because I own a few jerseys and watch games online for free? I've been to one NHL game in my life and I doubt i'll ever do it again. Way too expensive. And it's good their salaries are restricted by the cap. At least theres SOME sense of trying to keep them in check. -

I don't care who gets it. Just stating that it's ridiculous someone gets paid that much to play hockey. If you don't think so, that's your opinion. -

I'm saying that 10 million is more than enough for a lifetime. What happens when his career is over? He's set. He left a few million on the table..so what? He's in no danger of starving..ever. After a certain point it comes down to greed, nothing more. Why should'nt some players take discounts? If you want to be part of a cup winning franchise sometimes you have to with the salary cap. Is'nt that what most players want when they get to the NHL? To be part of a championship team? If Toews did take one to stay in Chicago, now he's got 3 cup rings instead of taking off for another team who offered him more, but where he probably would'nt have had close to the same success. As for Stamkos, no player is worth $100 million. He might get paid that, but it's insane to get paid that much to play hockey, or any other sport. -

He said he expected a contract to be done by now, but teams are'nt offering as much, and he needs a good opportunity to get an extension. The guy should take what he can get and be happy. He'll still make more in a season than alot of people will in a lifetime. I just hate hearing pro athletes complain about money. He's saying he did'nt take the opportunity to "cash in" when he could have. He made plenty of money either way. How many millions does one guy need? -
No argument Howard was having an all-star calibre season before he was injured, but when he returned he was horrible. I did'nt see Lundqvist fall apart when he returned from a long injury. Howard just could'nt get it back together, even after being given many chances to do so. That's not what you expect out of your veteran number 1 $5 million per season goalie.

No he did'nt say he's struggling, but why say those things? Pretty pointless. Does he expect sympathy because he left money on the table and now he regrets it because teams aren't throwing big contracts at him and he's still a UFA with training camps looming? He got paid $10 million dollars to play hockey for four seasons. He should just keep his mouth shut. -

Calgary is indeed a very expensive city to live in, but $10 million is more than enough money for a lifetime if your not out buying stupid expensive stuff all the time. He could retire now, never work again, and still pass a nice inheritence on to his kids. Greedy. -
Yeah, my mom has told me stories of my grandpa driving the family home drunk from parties and dinners. If he did get pulled over, they would just tell him to be careful and drive straight home. How times have changed.

The Isles dynasty might be overlooked because the Oilers starting piling up cups right after them. When many people, especially casual hockey fans, think of the 80's, they think of the Oilers. Which has a lot to do with Gretzky i'm sure.

$8 million for both would'nt be too bad. Dallas has $10.5 million tied up in Lehtonen and Niemi for the next three years.
-
I can't see anyone taking a chance on Gustavsson, unless they are in a tough spot and he'll sign for cheap. The guy had the potential to be a solid starting goalie in the NHL, but injuries have plagued him all through his career. Never really had a chance to establish himself. Wish things would have worked out better for him in Detroit.

Close enough.

LOLLLL Ridiculous. Wonder what kinda dirt Cleary has on Kenny?
-
First they retire Bourque's number after one season, now they rip off the Colorado Rockies logo.
-
RIP.

McCollum is OK, but i'd just be leery of having two rookies in goal for a full season. Better to ease one in along with a veteran. Howard had Osgood to mentor him for a couple seasons, now Mrazek has Howard to do the same.
-
Exactly. Mrazek/McCollum would be scary. Jimmy is'nt going anywhere yet. No need to pull a San Jose and head into the season with two goalies with a combined 83 NHL games under their belts. Mrazek won't be going anywhere.
-
Larks.
-
Yeah when the whole contract is totaled up. He will be making $7 million for two seasons of it is what I meant.
-
Never thought i'd see Holtby making $7 million per season. Christ.

Khan: Jeff Blashill to be announced new head coach next week
chaps80 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Glad they went with new blood instead of going after a coach who's been around the league awhile. Feels like a clean slate, which is what's needed right now.
