Some of those Hasek saves they just showed were unf***ing real!
-
Was that Helm?!?!
-
Well Hasek was his idol. lol
-
I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it. That's def a classic Dominator moment! LOL I know his aggression and personal goaltending style scared the hell out of a lot of us, and it resulted in some bad goals(2007 WCF Selanne goal comes to mind), but his career was obv alot more good than bad, and he was exciting to watch. One of a kind.

Hell yeah Dom!!! THANK YOU FOR 2002!!! You showed Roy who was the man!!
-
I'm sure Mrazek is ready to go. He's a very good, confident goalie. He knows this is his shot to take top spot till Jimmy is back, and i'm sure he's happy to have the chance.. He's not gonna blow it.

Injured MLive : Howard out at least 2-4 weeks with "slight groin tear"

If Holland ever trades Mrazek, he really must be sniffing ether. For realz. -
LGW!!! Mrazek, you gots this!!! Congrats to Hasek on the jersey retirement. VERY, VERY well deserved! I'd say hes huffing gas or ether. Babcock does'nt seem to like Weiss, but he's like "Franzen yur tha shyt"!!!
-
Absolutely. I remember being so pumped when he was signed, he had a great season here, then Holland has a hardcore brainfart and lets him head to Chicago. Awesome.

Yeah, I don't want to see McCollum even get a game in, but i'm sure it will happen, unless Monster is back sooner than anticipated. Mrazek will need a rest at some point. Sucks, but thats the way she goes. -
Week or two away supposedly. Only reason hes not playing is because he can't fully extend his glove arm yet, but hes close. Nah, Maracle.
-
I agree, who cares if every team has a rep? Pretty stupid how Chicago has five though, but they were "voted" in. lol
-
He should have been resigned. No idea if he was given an offer from Holland, but I def don't blame him if he told him to shove it up his ass, Besides, we had Legace anyways. LOL
-
Is'nt Brodeur with the Blues still? I know Elliot is back, and Allen is backing him up, but I was watching the Blues/Canes game last night and they said something a bout a "three goalie system". Would imagine Brodeurs in there?
-
Thats why I said he should have just signed and flipped Hasek to the Eastern Conference for a nice return. I would have taken him back too, but not kept him and tried to trade Cujo and send him to the minors when he could'nt after coaxing him away from the Leafs and all that. Total s***show on Holland's part indeed. And Cujo's playoff performances were great.
-
Congrats Jimmy! Hopefully his injury is'nt too bad and he gets back soon, but they should'nt rush it. Monster should be back in a week or so. Apparently whats keeping him out is only being able to lift his glove to a certain height, but its getting alot better. Mrazek is more than capable of playing till then. No worries, unless Mc Collum gets a start.
-
Wow, I forgot that they had tried to trade Cujo, It should have been Hasek. And then to demote him to the minors cause of a goalie logjam? What a s***ty way to be treated. Good thing they could'nt trade him though, cause Hasek did'nt last very long.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=747933&navid=nhl:topheads TORONTO -- Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky is the latest player to make a long-term commitment to theColumbus Blue Jackets. SERGEI BOBROVSKY GOALIE - CBJ RECORD: 15-10-2 GAA: 2.75 | SVP: .917 Bobrovsky on Friday signed a four-year contract extension worth $29.7 million. It will pay him $7.425 million per season starting in 2015-16 and makes him the second-highest paid NHL goalie behind Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers. "We believe he's only going to improve," Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said here after the deal was announced. "It's ultimately up to the player to prove that he's worth the contract that he gets. That's the way we operate, we operate on giving them the futures, and that's [why] we evaluate these players every day, but we believe with his hard work and dedication he's going to be one of the top goalies in this league for a long time." On New Year's Eve, forward Nick Foligno signed a six-year contract extension, following earlier deals with forwards Ryan Johansen (three years) and Brandon Dubinsky (six years). Bobrovsky, 26, is now signed through 2018-19. "That was something both sides were comfortable with," Kekalainen said. "Four years seemed like a good number. It gives us three years of unrestricted free agency. It gives him a chance to see where the salary cap is going, I guess. I can't speak for what their logic is, but four years is a good number for us. It keeps the player hungry and it gives us also a good amount of unrestricted-free-agent years." Bobrovsky is in his third season with the Blue Jackets, and since being acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers on June 22, 2012 he's been the No. 1 goalie in Columbus and won the Vezina Trophy in 2013. Following that season, he signed a two-year contract worth $11.25 million. Talks this time went more peaceably. "I don't know if it's different, but sometimes the situations are a little bit different," Kekalainen said. "People are in different stages of their lives and it just happened that year. It was a shortened year of the NHL and he just kept getting better and better and better and better, and his numbers kept getting better, and then he won the Vezina, and so it took a little longer time than usual, but that's part of the process." Bobrovsky is 68-41-13 with a 2.34 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 123 games for Columbus. He was 15-10-2 with a 2.75 GAA, .917 save percentage and one shutout in 27 games this season before playing against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday. "This is a very exciting day for me and I am very happy knowing that I will continue to be a Columbus Blue Jacket and be able to play with the guys in this room, to work to get better every day and help the team achieve our goals together," Bobrovsky said in a statement announcing the contract. Columbus entered play 18-17-3, nine points out of the second Eastern Conference wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Blue Jackets last season reached the postseason for the second time, losing in the first round to the Pittsburgh Penguins. "Obviously you want to make sure your core stays in place, and I keep saying this all the time, but I also try to make sure our core keeps getting better and improve, and these are the type of players that we believe that will do that," Kekalainen said. "They're hard-working, they take care of their career, and they take it very seriously. "[bobrovsky] is a great example of a guy that really puts in the work every day, how he prepares for practice, how he prepares for every game. He's a good example in the locker room and off the ice and on the ice the way he is as a professional. That's the type of leader we want on our team and that's why we've locked up all these core players." Lundqvist signed a seven-year, $59.5 million extension with the Rangers on Dec. 5, 2013.

For some reason, I thought this game was a late start, so I missed most of it. Seems like that was a good thing. Looks like Howard was hurt pretty bad. Apparently Monster is a week or so away from game shape, perhaps we see him back a bit sooner?
-
Well Holland had first crack at Hasek when he decided to end his retirement after one year, due to technicalities. You can't blame Holland for taking him back, but he should'nt have kept both Hasek and Cujo. By rights, he should have just traded Hasek for what I would imagine would have been a hell of a package in return. Cujo was signed because Hasek "retired", and he left Toronto, the team he loved playing for, for a crack at a cup, and obv to be the top guy. It should have been his team. Hasek ended up getting hurt anyways though after only playing 14 games, and was out for the season, and even voluntarily forfeited his salary($8 million), so Cujo became the number 1 goalie anyways. But yeah, keeping both goalies of that calibre was bad management. Was'nt Cujo even sent to GR for a time for a "conditioning stint"?

Sergei Bobrovsky signs 4 year extension with Blue jackets

$7.5 million per season. Wow. Great goaltender, but never thought he'd get that much. Then again, his current contract is almost $6 million per. Guess thats the state of the league today though. -
Cujo was awesome in the playoffs. Those losses def were not his fault. Who was the pylon just standing in front of the net who should have been covering Yelle when he scored the Game 6 OT goal? Was it Hatcher? And I seem to remember Cujo almost stopped it anyway.
