Later Jimmy, thanks for the effort. I figure with all the younger, better free agent goalies available right now, his NHL career is probably over. Unless he wants to play for dirt cheap. His record last season was horrific.

I miss the Boogeyman. And enforcers in general. Your complaining about fighting in hockey when you have a Hammer and Sickle in your avatar. Communism has killed like 100 million more people than fighting in hockey. But this board isn't political based, so i'll leave it at that.

Wings picked up M. Staal? $5,2 mill hit and full NMC??? Guess the pick that came with him was the main part of the deal? Use cap to take on salary in exchange for picks? Can never have too many picks I guess. I remember Marc from the OHL long ago and the run to the to the finals, but haven't followed him since. Looking at his stats he's def not worth what he makes. Part of the mostly overhyped Staal clan.

Byfield dropping to fourth? I wish. I know he has two more seasons of eligibility in Sudbury including an overage season, but no way he's coming back. If he isn't in the NHL this season i'll be surprised. Kid is a force offensively, quick skater, and doesn't shy away from the rough stuff. If he can't get around you, he'll move you. 6'5 215 right now and he'll put on more weight. And yes, that entire show was pure boredom.

Would he sign in Detroit? Probably wants one last kick at the can before he hangs em up. I feel bad that that guy never won a Cup. Wasn't from lack of effort, that's for sure...he carried the Rags for years but the team just couldn't get it done in front of him. He should have bailed.

They would be better moving on from Andersen imo. He just can't seem to get it done when it matters. I don't see any need for him in Detroit, unless the Leafs are willing to retain at least half his salary. $5.5 million tandem is fine. I read that the Pens were considering their future in goal and might go with Jarry. Their time as contenders is coming to an end, Murray is an RFA and arbitration eligible.

I dunno if i'd want him at $5 million at this point..Bernier/journeyman is fine with me. Depends what the deal involves..will they retain salary? What would they want in return? Weird that Freddie is rumored to be available..maybe Dubas realizes he can't win with him...

I doubt he waives his NMC to go to Detroit. Keep in mind he's never won a Cup yet. I figure Khudobin will be the one moving on. Not sure if Stevie could even attract him to Detroit..i'm keeping my expectations low in regards to any goaltender he picks up. As for solidifying the goaltending position for years to come...ASKAROV!!

Yeah, Bishop eats up $5 mill alone. Khudobin is making $2.5 mill right now, and he will want a raise the team can't afford and a shot at a starting job the team can't give.

Khudobin is also a solid option for sure. Ya, Kari left the NHL three years back or so after his contract expired...that's not too bad if he's kept in shape. I'd like to see it happen. lol

Yep. He was always solid in the regular season, even in Atlanta on a horrible team. But in the playoffs in high pressure situations, not so much. Dallas had to sign guys like Niemi and Bishop to bail him out. But there would be no such pressure on him in Detroit.

Nah, no Cup rings for him. But $1-2 million to back up Bernier (he seems to have earned the starting job regardless of who comes in) and not have to worry about playoffs is easy money.

Should Stevie give Kari Lehtonen a ring and see if he wants to slap on the winged wheel and stop some pucks this season? I think he should.

It's really not a big deal, at all. I've seen worse contracts get way more leeway on these boards. lol
