Not looking too bad these days though. I was weary of his play falling off, but it hasn’t. There comes a time when guys who struggle finally get it. He wasn’t even given a chance to run with some starts earlier in the year. They gave him a chance and he’s doing a great job. It is what it is right now. If Holland dumps him, I only see him working even harder wherever he goes.

Yeah i’d rather Edmonton get it as well. They don’t deserve it, because they can’t seem to do s*** with it, but Chicago is on another level of undeserving after the breaks and success they’ve had. Whenever they were forced to move a key player, they always somehow found someone to take their place for cheaper. Like Panarin. It was funny when they had to trade him.

He’s been a lot better lately. He did kinda get caught there, but when the puck gets to Matthews and he’s got open twine, it’s going in. Not many goalies would have stopped that, even if they did get over faster. Or if our $6 million defenseman could have done something to help, that woulda been cool. Brodeur as our goalie coach would be awesome though.

Pretty much. Every Wings player on the ice screwed up on that one. DD though, he didn’t even try. He was standing in the same spot the whole time, didn’t even challenge Matthews. Mrazek made the first save, couldn’t get over in time. Full team brain fart. No points is great though.

I’m trying to figure that one out. I haven’t watched a game in a little bit, but Mrazek looks calm and confident, solid positioning, not taking risks on pucks. Way less aggressive. Nielson got smoked good.

Abby suddenly lost a lot of his grit when he signed that big contract. He was always a guy who had to do dirty work as part of staying on a team. Now he doesn’t need to. He got pay. Very well could be. Games at the ACC are sold out years in advance and nosebleeds sell for $200 on stubhub for regular season games. It’s ridiculous.

The one thing I don’t get about that move is if Holland is so playoff happy, why does he want to trade the goalie who has been keeping that faint flicker of playoff hope going for him the last month? It doesn’t make sense. But then again, Holland def doesn’t always make sense...

A bit ya. He’s older. But still fast enough to be effective against younger players. I remember in ‘08 when he was called up for the playoffs. Gave opposing players fits because of his speed. Scored some big goals too. West clincher in OT against Chicago stands out. Ahh the good days...

AA, when he’s not slacking. Easily one of the fastest in the league end to end. Huge strides. He’s just gone. Helm has managed to keep his speed over a decade into his career. He definitely keeps on shape and his skating top notch. Not surprising he focuses on it so much though. It’s really all he has.

I know this. Still doesn’t change the fact that by reports there’s been inquiries about Howard, and none about Mrazek. I’m curious to know what teams are calling and what offers (if any) have been put out there in regards to him. If they’re willing to take him with a year remaining on his deal, all the better.

Trades can still be made after the deadline. But it would be non playoff teams participating, as a playoff team giving up assets to get a player they can’t use in the playoffs doesn’t make any sense. Once playoffs begin and as teams drop out they can also get involved in trades. If Holland decides after the regular season that he isn’t qualifying him, he can still get something for him, but the amount of teams that will take him on is decreased. Unless trades can be done with all 31 teams in the short time between the end of the Finals and free agency? Not sure of that one.

That’s an idea. 2nd might be too pricey for Philly though. They are very similar goalies. But they also get a replacement for him right away instead of 5-6 weeks. Surely get a decent pick due to that factor.
