    Howard 2017 Starting Netminder

He's already unseated Howard before with minimal NHL experience under his belt. Can easily do it again after the season he just went through. If a guy with his skill set and confidence heard things about himself in the media gets determined to play at his best to silence his critics, he's probably someone you want to keep a look out for behind you. I doubt Howard thinks the job will be easy to hang on to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ken Holland "We protected our best goaltender"

Maybe this is just another ploy by management to get Mrazek fired up. He sees Howard might get 50 games, he's comin to camp to unseat him. Hope it happens and has a great season and we can finally put this stuff to rest. But, Petr doesn't seem to worry ( never really does) or put much stock in the "insider" reports out of Detroit concerning him though. He debunked some of it as hearsay already, like the team being pissed at him when he didn't have one face to face with anyone about it, or the trade thing where he said Holland didn't contact him once saying he wanted to trade him, or he was being traded. Ken Holland contract extension watch

Z had a great year outta nowhere. He makes a pile of cash and actually earns it. Seems like the other players who signed deals lately have been content sucking cause they're future is guaranteed. Too bad they don't follow their Captains example. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

50-55 games? Lol just like Blash's comment about focusing on a playoff return. Doubtful. When did they all of a sudden decide to give Howard the job and that many games? Last thing Salajko said was they'd be battling for playing time out of camp. Haha things change everyday with the Wings lately. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mrazek "Maturing, could bounce back like Howard"

They do. So why give up on one the same age with a huge ceiling? I think his first NHL games were in the 2014 season. Played 9. Only been up full time for two full seasons now. But, I think it's hard for any young goalie on any team to come in ( especially in Detroit) and fully replace a veteran who has been in the system since the mid-00's. Howard has been around so long that even when Holland was shopping him, he may not even have been fully dedicated to moving him. Maybe in his mind he hoped he'd be able to keep him, while being able to say "he tried". He does love the s*** out of his veterans. Daley is the latest one to come aboard Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mrazek "Maturing, could bounce back like Howard"

Agreed there was a lot of s*** on Howard around here when he started going downhill. But I've noticed a lot of pro-Howard posts since a couple months into the past season. Maybe not as pro-Howard as your posts, but they are there nonetheless. Mrazek's bad season seemed to make Howard's good play in minimal games worth more to people than maybe it should have. Why does a mask twitch matter? Lol Goalies all have their own quirks. Dryden leaning on his stick, Roy talking to the goalposts, Kipprusoff lifting his mask up, Lehtonen sitting on top of the net. Tons of that kinda simple stuff that becomes ritual. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

Agreed. Mrazek has one more season left, may as well see what he does with it before even considering trading him. Team isn't a contender. Nothing to lose, plenty to gain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, I know your one of the few of us here that still has hope for him. I was referring to Leftwinger's comment about trading him. Makes no sense at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sheahan should have been traded at the deadline. But if there was so much interest in him when he had 0 goals for the season, maybe if he gets 5 this year his value will jump even higher! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The whole trading Mrazek thing is hilarious at this point. Might want to wait on that until you have a starter who can play a full season, and a backup who didn't have a 3.58 or whatever GAA IN 14 starts in Detroit last season. Or maybe not. Tanks away! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ken Holland contract extension watch

Indeed. Nielson is worthless on this current team. Just Holland being trigger happy with money to burn. And the Abby deal...I realize he's an assistant captain, big community guy, big media guy. Had some pretty good seasons, one of the only physical players on the team. All that's great, but $4.25 million a season for 7 seasons? He's already declining, and was never worth that at his peak. But sure, why not? I wonder if I sent Holland a letter if he'd sign me to a contract. Tell him I played beer league and was the top goalie one season, winning the golden beer bottle award for least goals allowed while intoxicated. Checks in the mail! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mrazek "Maturing, could bounce back like Howard"

This board flip flops over favouring goaltenders so much. Awhile back it was "Howard sucks, can't stop a beach ball, trade him!" And it got even worse when he got lit up in the first two games of the 2016 playoffs and replaced by Mrazek. Holland tried to trade him, no one was interested, so he was still on the team by default pretty much. Then Mrazek had a bad year and Howard played mostly well in the games he made it into, and now "Mrazek sucks, he's a bust, trade him, Howard is the better goalie", etc. Howard is one good injury away from LTIRetirement, but let's keep him as our only viable option. Mrazek "Maturing, could bounce back like Howard"

No but I remember him being sheltered. First full NHL season wasn't until he was 25, maybe that helped? He was out of AHL options and Babcock said it's time to deliver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ken Holland "We protected our best goaltender"

Ya it's sad seeing guys like AA who can rip down the ice and score some highlight goals stuck on the bench because of concerns over work ethic. I don't care wtf Sheahan does off the ice. He went scoreless until the final game of the season, and probably only scored those two goals because of a concentrated effort by the team to get him set up for them so he'd at least have something. They should have let him finish with 0. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's funny how different things are when you actually hear from the player himself in depth instead of reading HSJ bulls*** jargon. He talks fairly openly with his countries media. Seems to avoid saying too much to Detroit's. Wonder why? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ken Holland "We protected our best goaltender"

Found the roughly translated article. He says everything bad he's heard about his game has come from the press. He's never had a face to face with the coaches or Holland about it. And on the trade topic, he says he never got any sort of hint whatsoever he'd be traded. Holland never spoke to him once about it. Says he knows he can't repeat last season, must be much better. He's learned from it, has to focus on every shot. http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/roughly-translated-an-interview-with-petr-mrazek Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

hearing?! So it's all gossip about his working, he didn't even see it for himself... Who told Wings goaltending coach about Mrazek? Marzek agent? [emoji4] The rest of that article is just wishful laud thinking... Doubt he saw it for himself if Mrazek is at home in the CR until camp. There are Wings scouts in Europe though. Maybe he got it from them? Maybe he has a goalie coach over there he's working with who reports to Jeff? But let's just totally dismiss it all as hearsay and wishful thinking... Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals

If Holland can't do that 5 for 5, or somewhere close, I guess he's gonna have to work out a one year deal and trade him. Who knows what junk he might trade for though. He's scarier as a GM right now than having Bob Essensa in goal was years ago. Like every puck that came at Bob, Holland's every move is a toss up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Helm and Ericsson no. But Mrazek and Nyquist? Not at this point. There's still question marks in goal, get rid of Mrazek, you have Jimmy. What if he has another long term injury? You think Coreau can handle things? Lol And Nyquist is still needed at this point. Even though I've never been a big fan of his, he provides scoring. And we can't afford to lose any production right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
