$5 million even for 5 years is perfect IMO. It's almost at his asking price, and not such an insulting number as $4.1 million. Just because the team has no cap room, why should he take that deal and lose money? Hometown discounts are nice, but I don't see a way Tatar can justify taking it. The precedent has been set. Not like the last thing he said was positive. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Exactly. Hand out too many overpaid lengthy contracts to players, then every player either at their level or beyond it will expect one when it's their turn. Don't blame Tatar one bit. If I looked at what Abby got for what he brings then get tabled a $4.1 million per offer, I'd laugh in Holland's face. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, they did focus a lot on youth and future, which is the best way to go instead of completely loading up on established players and veterans trying to make a quick mark, and then screwed when those players are done. Good mix. A few of the previous expansion rosters were just awful, like SJ and Ottawa. Ottawa had I think 8 wins their first season. Different era, but awful for the time nonetheless. Looking at that roster, Vegas really didn't make out that well in the draft. I've seen it before on Capfriendly, but the way you put it together makes it seem even worse. And what if Fleury has a repeat of last regular season? Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yet he did come out and basically say that Holland has full control over things. With the state of the team, why would you say that? Had to be the loudest simultaneous groin ever emitted by a fan base all at once upon hearing that statement. Or does he just not care about hockey much, sees Holland as the man his dad left in charge, is content to leave it that way, and wants to focus on selling pizza? Seems like pizza is pretty important to the Illitchs after that abomination of a roof was put in at LCA. And it's not his responsibility to tell fans how he feels, but it would be good to hear from someone above Holland once in awhile. All we've heard is Jimmy D supports a rebuild and Illitch is good sticking with Holland ( for now?). Owners talk publicly all the time, as do team Presidents/Vice Presidents. Indeed. Which is why they're rarely taken with first round picks. I'm sure the Isles wanted to have the DiPietro pick back after the found out he was made of glass. Fleury and Price worked out well though. As has Gibson so far. Then we have McCollum... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maybe. How does that work anyways, if Vegas did waive him? Do the 7 teams below the Wings in the standings from last season get a shot at him first, or does he come right back to Detroit? He wasn't waived from Detroit, so I would think it would be from Colorado on up that can claim him? Or was the exposure system same as a waiver? Confusing somewhat.... Forget where I saw the article, but it was all about how Holland's time should be coming to an end in Detroit. Lots of good points. Like even though they did have some good seasons post 2009, they never made it past the second round, and in most it was a first round exit, with the team getting worse by the year. Had it been any other franchise, he'd be gone, or at least warned he's at the end of his leash, but we haven't heard anything like that from up above. It is definitely concerning how Holland is treading water close to drowning and not a peep from Illitch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, losing a great drafted player (if it comes to that) that puts up the numbers he does on this current roster due to money concerns is simply very poor roster management. Kenny pulls the trigger on Nielson last year, now Daley, when he should have been planning for one of his best scorers upcoming RFA status. Typical. Spend the cash and worry later, right Kenny? His problem is he thinks his young homegrown players aren't worth the amounts veteran free agents are, or if he thinks they are, he'll still try to save money when making his offer, like he is with Tatar. But Nielson, no problem. He can have what he wants. Guy is sooo stuck in 2002 era dreamland it's stupid. How many years has he had to adjust to the cap? And he still doesn't get it. Not saying picking up Frk on waivers after losing him on waivers was a bad idea, but it's funny how former Wings players/prospects end up right back in the system. Don't see that as often with other teams, unless it was a former star coming back for another go, or final season to retire with that team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just noticed the gif of Kenny boot in the tire around. Hahahaha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Ken Holland and Garth Snow negotiating a trade. Co-authors on a new book. How to destroy two team's futures in one day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He'd do it in a heartbeat. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He's asking for $5.3 million at his arbitration today. Holland offered $4.1 million. So they are pretty far apart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If Holland already offered him over $5 million, why go in with a $4.1 million offer? It is arbitration, but he's not going to sign for less money than Abby makes ffs Holland. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Guess Holland was "skiing" over the weekend. Still feelin it. Tatar would not end up on a PTO though. He deserves what he's asking. Holland just can't do it cause he wasted the cash on Daley and thought Tatar would bow down. Maybe you should lock up one of your top scorers before going UFA hunting. Abby gets $4 mill plus a season. That's going to be a huge point of discussion in Tatar's contract talks I bet. Holland always shoots himself in the foot and it's really getting tiresome. Still funny, but tiresome. I can't wait until the day the Illitchs finally wake the hell up and can his ass. Well they will be battling each other for ice time this season. Don't think either has the starters job locked up right now. Maybe after training camp. If Mrazek really does have a more mature attitude and is willing to do what it takes, should be a good battle between them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Legacy was offered a contract extension for a pretty nice amount of cash around midway point that regular season, but wanted to wait until after the playoffs to try to cash in more. Boy did that ever backfire. He ended up talking about killing himself and was let walk. Hahaha Then Holland called Hasek that summer and asked him to return. I still think Ottawa would have contended for that 2006 Cup had Hasek not gotten hurt at the Olympics. He was having a great year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Fedorov, didn't he score a crazy fluke goal in Game 4 in 2003? Off the side boards and past Giggy? Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't recall it either, but I've heard it talked about somewhere. Malkin should have been suspended for Game 4 though, as per league rules. But then had the Wings won that game and eventually the Cup, Pens fans would still be bitching that the Wings didn't play their full roster that night. And the league wasn't going to suspend a star player over a late third game misconduct in the Finals that didn't result in injury, "rules" be damned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I recall this too watching it. Just came out flat at home for a Finals Game 7. Allowed two goals and couldn't get them back in time. That was a soul crusher, but the series never should have gone that long. Up 2-0 heading back to Pittsburgh, should have got at least one, then have three games to finish em off. Wasnt the Pens first goal badly offside though in Game 7? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So Matej is "pencilled in for the starters job in Toledo" to start the season. WTF, I thought at least he'd be Coreau's backup in GR. But that's McCollum's spot.... http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2017/07/14/detroit-red-wings-matej-machovsky/479214001/ Detroit- Howard, Mrazek GR- Coreau, McCollum Toledo- Matej, ?? Coreau also has to clear waivers this season on any call ups. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boston just beat them up, pushed them around. Wings haven't been a tough team for a long time now, but that series really showed just how much that element was lacking. Didn't Smith try to fight Chara that series, and Chara just laughed it off and told him bad idea? Which it probably was. Then the injury prone tandem of Howard and Gus. I swear those two swapped injuries all season. Five for Jimmy, Four for Monster. Christ. Howard goes down in Game 3. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
