    Off-season moves

Always has. His best player is still Zetterberg, who's rookie season was nearly 15 years ago. He hasn't picked up or drafted ANYONE good enough to move him off the top line yet. I know Z is still damn good, but it is kind of a concern when he's entering his twilight career years and still can't step into a bit easier role because no other player on the roster can handle taking his current role. 2017 Draft

The Holland gravy train will end soon enough. He should be all rights have been fired by now, but his past achievements that probably saved his ass for awhile just keep getting further and further in the past. Little Illitch seems a bit passive right now, but he just took over and Holland is pretty much the only GM he's ever known in Detroit. Hopefully he grows a set and gets fed up, walks into Holland's office and kicks him right out of that big comfy chair he's gotten way too used to, and most likely takes for granted, and tells him to gtfo. Artemi Panarin to Blue Jackets for Brandon Saad

I think Panarin will be just fine in Columbus. It's not like they're a bad team. Bad playoff team though. He may miss Kane and Keith, but Seabrook isn't as good as he once was. He'll have Atkinson, Wennberg, Werenski, Foligno, Jenner, Gagner, Jones, Bobrovsky. He'll be good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    2017 Draft

LOL First on the list too. Rasmussen was a surprise choice. His size inflated his stock quite a bit by the reactions I've read. Kings didn't even hesitate to nab Vilardi at 11th. Ten teams passed him over, one after Detroit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    2017 Draft

So they DID take Petruzelli. Who was the top ranked goalie in the draft from Boston U, projected as low first/high second. Forget the name don't want to look it up . Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeah he's kind of a steal at that draft spot. Saginaw assistant captain with 50-60 points. Only entering his second OHL season, but looks good so far. 2017 Draft

Gotta say I like this kid's size. If he was taking a forward first, glad it's a big one. 6'6, 220+. Christ. Hopefully he plays like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    2017 Draft

Kenny and his projects.... Seems pretty much every other GM takes the obvious top picks, but he has to try something different. I actually thought he'd go for one of the top D left at 9. Why did I think that?..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Artemi Panarin to Blue Jackets for Brandon Saad

Ahh, good ol cap problems... Man, did that Hossa skin issue pop up at just the right time. Out for the season, owed $1 million, cap hit of $5 million plus. Still a great player, but I bet they're happy to get relief from that contract for a season at least. Sneakyyyyy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I thought Bowman had a side deal with Vegas that in exchange for exposing TVR to them, Kruger had to also be taken in a trade of some type? Guess that didn't work out for him? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hossa's Career Might Be Over Already

Probably. Then again, Hasek probably has more fans overall than any goalie of his era. Winning 6 Vezinas and a Hart and keeping a 1.96 GAA while tending goal for the Buffalo Sabres will do that. Then the '02 WCF Games 6 and 7 where he had two shutouts outplaying Roy and defeating the Avs probably pleased a few Wings fans. He was a man possessed in Game 6. Targets for the Wings

Wouldn't mind that at all. I remember something Nelson said about just his presence on the bench/ice made everyone on the team 6 inches taller. Take it no one wanted to f*** with the guy? Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Artemi Panarin to Blue Jackets for Brandon Saad

Chicago's cap woes are FINALLY catching up to them. They've lost good players before, but not guys like Panarin, Hjalmarsson, and Hossa. Was bound to happen with $20 mill for two players and 8 guys with NMCs. But they won three cups in five seasons, so I guess it evens out for them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hossa's Career Might Be Over Already

Yes I do. I've always been a fan of his though. How can you not be? He had his playoff issues from '99-'01, but I wonder how many fans thought after Babs replaced the legendary Hasek with him in '08 that it would be for good, and he'd play so well and backstop the team to the Cup? I liked the move and felt he had it in him, but it must have been a surprise to many. I think after that, he won over a lot of fans, especially when he was Conn Smythe good the very next playoff season. I don't think some will ever see him as one of the best goalies to wear the winged wheel though, even with his stats and Cups. He's always just been Osgood, the guy with the weird helmet and not much skill who benefitted from the team in front of him to them. Too bad that's not at all true of him. Chicago traded Panarin??? I thought he'd be untouchable. Quite a few surprises. Arizona ships out Smith and gets Raanta. Great move! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Red Wings Expansion Draft Protected List

Well hopefully he works hard this summer and gets to camp with his head in the right place, and listens to any advice about changing that over aggressive style that has become known to opposing shooters. Any goalie can change. Just because he hasn't faced much adversity in his career, and has probably had his ego pumped quite a bit, doesn't mean he should have an entitled or "I'm better than everyone " attitude. It is the NHL, and if he wants to stay and have a starting job, he'll have to put in the time to get there. If he doesn't, it's a waste of talent. But I'll wait until the end of next season before I consider him a bust. I think the major thing is his ego. I've said before he never looks rattled or concerned after giving up a few goals, which is good, but at the same time he can't just shrug it off. Won't get far like that. We'll all see this season what becomes of him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Red Wings Expansion Draft Protected List

Rewarding Howard for what?? Playing good but not playing much at all to be of any use? Why does 25 games in which he mostly didn't screw up so huge to you guys? I just don't get it. It's about time he got his s*** somewhat together after the heart attacks he gave fans on every shot for quite awhile. Too bad he wasn't around to help the team. Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkYou'd think by the Howard love around here he totally turned s*** around and put up Vezina numbers through 60 games. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Red Wings Expansion Draft Protected List

Coreau was a worse "dumpster fire" than Mrazek, yet got more starts and the WC. That made a lot of sense every time he was face down on the ice trying in vain to stop a shot looking helpless. And Howard, well not much you can say about that. Injured 2/3 of the season. , Mrazek was the "starter" going into last season. Of course you give him some leeway. All starters get some leeway. But the obvious railroading that went on when his attitude issues began? The Coreau thing was what settled that for me. Two goalies playing bad, let's give the callup with no prior NHL experience a bunch of starts instead of the guy who's seen a lot more NHL action that you want to take the top job and keep it. Great strategy Jeff. Why not talk to the kid and tell him to change it up and work harder, that they want him to play like he's capable of, instead of just leaving tensions to fester? Maybe they did try, but with all the "insider" info out there about anything and everything, there's no mention of any of that. That said, this season is different. There's obvious issues with him, I'm sure he's well aware if he doesn't deliver he's gone. Doesn't seem to be a set starter in mind yet. If he is given the job and sucks again, don't resign him. But don't use last seasons issues influence how you treat him when this new season starts. If he can put it behind him, management and coaches should too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Off-season moves

Indeed. It wasn't a bad signing at the time, although it was a bit too much cash and term. But, he had been pretty stellar in Anaheim and Arizona before hitting UFA, and there was a lot of interest in him, and he wanted big money and long term. Philly desperately needed a proven #1 ( as they always do), ponied up the cash to beat all other offers, but Bryz did not fill his end of the deal. At all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Off-season moves

Miller isn't what he was and will want paid, Elliott is coming off a bad season ( could rebound and would be cheap though). The rest are backups. Leighton got the Flyers to the Finals once, but doubtful he repeats that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Title should be "Flyers look to ruin another goalie's career". They've struggled in goal since Hextall, and that's not a joke. Shipped out Bobrovsky (who wasn't the goalie he is now) for Mason. And wouldn't ya know, Bob becomes yearly Vezina material. Signed Bryz for $10 million a season for ten years, he flops the moment the Flying P hits his chest, and is bought out after one season. Many, many more examples too. I do like that one poster's idea of Howard/9th for the 2nd though. But it won't happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Official Expansion Draft/NHL Awards, Crosby love fest thread.

Would be nice, but I doubt Vegas is going to part with him. They will have to shed some of their D stockpile eventually though. One analyst said he wasn't impressed with the D they picked up, too much money, looks like a "pre-salary cap defense". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Off-season moves

I'd keep all four of those forwards. They're really all we have on the team and in the system for the near future. Takes assets to get assets, but it would take two of the four at least (likely starts with Larkin and/or Mantha) to land a #1 D. Or maybe all the overpaid guys currently on the blue line could try a bit harder to earn their pay in the meantime? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
