    I'd keep the flaming C.

Yeah your right. I knew it was one or the other but didn't care to check. Lol

    2017 Draft

Indeed. Although they did eventually sign him as a free agent, they only got parts of one season out of him before the cap forced a buyout, and he was near he end of his career. Plus, that blunder in Game 6 against Calgary that had him standing around like a pylon while Yelle fired the winning goal into an open net unmolested was not his best moment.

perspective on the #7 overall pick

Nurse, Schiefele, Skinner, Suter, Dumba, Voracek, Okposo I'd be more than happy with.

    2017 Draft

It's too bad they didn't draft some young French Canadian goalie named Martin Brodeur instead.

Less is not more exciting for the Chicago Blackhawks

Hahahaha I love reading these posts from Hawks fans having a meltdown. Everyone keep em coming!!

2017 WCQF: Nashville Predators vs. Chicago Blackhawks

That's gotta be a joke. Is someone really THAT stupid to think a team can be granted a do over because the win may have been a fluke? I hope if it is legit that anyone who knows the poster gives them a big swift kick in the balls.

2017 WCQF: Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks

Always will be. It was a continuation of the Flaming A from the Atlanta Flames before they relocated to Calgary. Dunno what else they'd use. They did have the fire breathing bull logo as their third jersey at one time. Lol

2017 WCQF: Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks

Ya, not the best logo, but those jerseys are classic. 1989 Stanley Cup was won in those with Lanny MacDonald, Theo Fleury, Al MacInnis, and Mike Vernon leading the way. Damn, I just looked at the roster they had. That team was stacked!! Doug GIlmour, Joe Nieuwendyk, Gary Roberts, Joe Mullen, Joel Otto, Hakan Loob, Mark Hunter, Jiri Hrdina, Gary Suter, Rob Ramage...list goes on.

My god I forgot about that old Coyotes logo. WTF were they thinking? Did they have kindergarten kids enter a contest to draw the thing? f*** lol

2017 ECQF: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Washington Capitals

Blash sucks no doubt, but after a decade in Detroit, it was time for Babs to move on. He did all he could, although the team easily could have won three or four Cups under him instead of one from 2006-2010 or so. They gave the Ducks the Conference Final in '07, bs easily could have beaten Ottawa in the Finals. In '09, their collapse in the Finals was massive. Up 2-0, 2 wins away from another back to back championship, and let the Pens back in the series and lost Game 7 at home after coming out flat and allowing a couple bad goals. With the direction the team was heading after another first round loss in '05 and destined to miss the playoffs soon, Babs moved on. As much as I despise the Leafs, Babs has done an incredible job there. Finished last in the standings last season, and now this season with the moves they made and Babs no nonsense approach and making them all earn their playing time, they had a rookie score 40 goals, got excellent goaltending from Andersen, and made the playoffs and gave Washington a huge scare. Their rookies now have 6 hard fought games of playoff experience, and they will all be hungry to get back there and win next season.

2017 WCQF: Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks

Possibly. They had other problems besides goaltending though. And they could have put Johnson in for Game 4 to change things up if they wanted to, but they stuck with Elliott even though he was struggling. And Holland wanted to trade Howard last offseason, but there was no interest. So I don't get why you say he "isn't that stupid".

Less is not more exciting for the Chicago Blackhawks

Damn, even the Hawks are making changes and their GM is pissed. I wish Holland got that riled up about the past few seasons and dug in and fired staff and made trades, but he just sits back, as per usual, and stays with the status quo. Even if he made one move and fired Blash it would be a step in the right direction, but nothing AT ALL! I dunno if he's just naturally very passive, or if he's simply very lazy. And the fact that Chris Illitch doesn't seem to want to get involved with the goings on and is leaving it up to Holland is a really bad sign. Hopefully his Mom talks to him about how his Dad was when he set about reviving the franchise and bringing a Cup back to Detroit and how he needs to smarten up and help get the franchise back into contention.

2017 WCQF: Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks

#1 starting goalie? If you say so. But yeah, Elliott won't be re-signed after the season he had. He did well the last half but had a horrendous start and was lit up in the playoffs. I know the Flames had high expectations for him after his play in St. Louis, but Calgary isn't St. Louis. He was counted on to do a lot more behind a worse defence and couldn't get it done. Calgary will protect Johnson in the XDraft and maybe look for a veteran goalie at the entry draft. They could have had Howard last year, but Elliott was cheaper and had only one year left on his contract.

2017 WCQF: Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks

Yeah I figured his high goal total was simply a product of playing with Benn and Seguin, which it probably was in part. But he's kept going since being traded. Why couldn't he score like this in Detroit? Hard to score when your healthy scratch or injured though I guess.

Playoff Format Needs to be Changed

The playoff format is pure stupidity. It used to be: 1 vs. 8 2 vs. 7 3 vs. 6 4 vs. 5 That is the fair and proper format to reward teams who did well in the regular season. If your just gonna jumble it up and have the two top seeds and two bottom seeds play each other, then why even play a regular season? Let's just have all of the 31 teams involved in the playoffs and have each team captain draw from a pail of numbered pucks in Bettman's living room to see who plays who. Make each series a best of 13, first to 7 wins.

2017 ECQF: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

I dunno, it was awhile back. I thought I remembered this board was flipping out at how good he was. That may have just been the one series that went to 6 in 2010. 2011 was a sweep I think. And yeah, the "Bulin Wall" did win a Cup, but just barely. Calgary lost Game 7 by one goal. Funny how Nabokov wore #20 as a tribute to Tretiak. He should have asked him how to win stuff.

2017 ECQF: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

I seem to remember him being great in Phoenix, and the guy that kept them in the series. Once he signed in Philly (where goalies careers go to die) though, he fell apart. Bought out after ONE season. Never regained his form after that. Philly traded Bobrovsky after that for Mason to try to improve their goaltending. Bob became a Vezina winning star, and Mason has been ok at best. Philly is cursed with their goaltending. Haven't had a franchise goalie since Hextall's first stint, lol
  21. Understandable that both are paid the same, but 10.5 mill is just a crazy sum to pay someone to play hockey, especially in the cap era. Two players take up 21 mill of your entire available space. Whatever though, that's the Hawks problem, especially when they decline to the calibre of other $6 mill players. They have won three Cups with them though, so I guess it evens out?
  22. Yeah I dunno how they ever reached the 10+ million mark with him. Honestly, no player is worth that, and Chicago has two. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

2017 ECQF: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Case in point, Nabokov. Had he been better, the Sharks would already have a Cup or two. Thanks for nothing BJ's. Hope whoever plays the Pens next round can get the job done.
  24. You think another team would take that massive cap hit for another 6 years? 10.5 mill a season is insane. Quite a few teams would need restructuring to fit him in. They're best plan if they wanted to move him would be to contact McPhee in LV. They need to reach cap floor, and snagging Toews for their inaugural season would really help establish a fan base, get them an experienced team captain with three Cups on board to lead and help a brand new team with an assortment of players from every team in the league work together and gel. But it would never happen. Toews means too much to the Hawks team and fans. He's their Yzerman or Sakic, and most likely a lifer in Chicago. Fans would probably riot. Lol
  25. Yeah, who knows. He seemed pretty down and pissed off in that one interview where he called out his teammates for not caring enough about winning or working hard enough to win.
