2017 WCQF: Nashville Predators vs. Chicago Blackhawks
chaps80 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Same here, but I hope Pittsburgh goes down next round. They will have a huge advantage with a long rest though. Def don't want them repeating as champs. -

The Wings were the 2nd seed in 2003 behind Dallas by ONE point. They were swept. Pretty damn close to a first seed, but numerically not. That series was such an embarrasment, especially being the defending champs. -
Less is not more exciting for the Buffalo Sabres - Bylslma, Murray fired
chaps80 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
So there's two former Cup winning coaches without jobs now. Holland should at least think about signing one. But he won't. People are saying the firings likely have something to do with Eichel, but Eichel is saying his year end meetings with both went fine, and the media is twisting things around and he never asked for either to move on. -

Bye Bye Hawks!! Three goals in four games with their offence? Hahaha what a s***kicking. Rinne will be giving them nightmares all summer. Thank you Preds!! How many Hawks "fans" are off the bandwagon now? Lolll -
Haha notice the capitalized MAYBE? Pretty much means no. I added him to the list as a huge maybe just to show how many HOF calibre guys are left on this team. I know I was being generous by saying anyone other than Z.
-
Meh, you never know. He's not a shoe in like Z. Osgood isnt in there yet, and he's got 401 wins and 3 Cups, 2 as starter. 14-4 and 1.55 gaa in the '08 playoffs after bailing out HOFer Hasek, and 16-6 and 2.12 gaa in the '98 playoffs. I think he'll eventually get in, and Kronwall may too, but he's not a first ballot player.
-
It's cuz they "need to learn". Blash is an idiot. I know either aren't on the same level as other organizations young stars, but they're the best the Wings have right now. Not the same as say, sitting McDavid for mistakes, but it is at the same time. Mantha and AA should be getting nothing but respect and lots of ice time from Blash. Mantha has already been held back too long in GR when he could have taken a number of guys spots in Detroit. It's not the early 2000's anymore where they could wait a few seasons to bring in players who had clearly outgrown the AHL because the team was loaded with 9 or 10 future HOFers. Right now there's Z, and MAYBE Kronwall on the roster that are at that level.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
chaps80 replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
He wants a long term contract, but he's bailed on a contract before. Datsyuk bailing on his contract ruined his legacy with the Wings for me. You sign a contract, you fulfill it. Hate to sign Radulov for a few seasons then he takes off halfway through. If the Wings were to sign him, should be short term at first. If he does well and is a dedicated team player, resign for a bit more. But Kenny...make sure there's enough cap for an extension when it comes up so you don't end up with another Hossa situation. K thanks. -
Bout time! Talbot has been great all year, but he only played 3/4 of a playoff game prior to this series. Figured he'd have a weak game soon enough, but pulled after 5 ga on 24 shots?

2017 ECQF: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
chaps80 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Nope, but he's a goalie that can make it a series of he starts playing at his best. I doubt they can win four straight, but it would be great to see them give the Pens a good scare. -
2017 ECQF: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Washington Capitals
chaps80 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Agreed. I have a hard time picking a team to back in these playoffs. No Wings, no Flyers, no Kings. May have to go with the Rags. Would like to see Lundqvist finally get a Cup. He's done everything possible every playoff season since they've been contenders to give his team a chance to win, but they never come through with the offense or defence at the worst times. He's carried them for years, maybe they can step it up for him? Can't believe I'm saying this, but I like the Sharks these playoffs as well, -

Well, at least we legitimately have things to complain about. They still have a hell of a team and three cups since 2010. Watch, now that their core is older and the team is trending downwards from the unstoppable force they were even a couple years ago, you'll see quite a few of their "fans" jumping off the bandwagon. They already can't handle being down 3-0 in a series two years after winning a Cup and I guarantee some are one loss away from torching their Hawks gear. Once they start missing the playoffs again you'll start seeing the return to 5000 fans a game at the UC. -

I hope that never happens. Hell, they're only up 2-1 in a first round series and the Leafs fans here were acting like they won the Cup after the OT winner in Game 3. I get that they are happy about their team for the first time in years, and I'm sure that's a big part of their dumbass smack talking attitudes they get whenever Matthews takes a s***, but they need to learn to be more humble. That's' why every other NHL team's fan base can't stand them. -
Yeah I getcha.

Yeah, Edmonton wanted to keep Hall and tried to offer NJ Yakupov for Larsson. No way that was happening (pretty sure RNH was offered as well, but that was also turned down). He ended up going to STL as a reclamation project for next to nothing, and has been a bust there too. He has an entitled attitude, poor work ethic, and is one dimensional. He lit up the OHL in juniors, but once he hit the NHL he found it hard to score goals (reminds me of one of the Wings recent prospects). He did do alright playing with McDavid some last season, but most would do well on his line. Yak should just go home to Russia and the KHL. Might be his only option soon whether he likes it or not.
-
But he is a Red Wing. Until he's 38. A decent chunk of cap space might open up after the expansion draft, but I don't expect Holland to head into next season with anything left. He'll find someone the team doesn't need to waste it on.

We all have our opinions. But really, what has Blash done to deserve to keep his job? Dave Lewis was replaced after a couple seasons, and he had 48 wins in each and a Presidents Trophy. His playoff record was pretty dismal, but the team made the second round once at least. Going from Scotty to Lewis, there was going to be somewhat of a drop off until Lewis got things figured out, but management didn't want that drop off to last too long and hired Babcock to get the team winning Cups again. There's been a drop off again since Blashill took over from Babcock, so why be satisfied with that this time? Why does Blashill deserve a third season when Lewis didn't?

Dallas Appoint Ken Hitchcock as Head Coach
chaps80 replied to Wing Across The Pond's topic in General
Hahaha I forgot about that abomination. -
Blashill has gotten worse from last season to this season. He sits guys like AA while Sheahan goes scoreless for 83 games, his line combos make no sense and the guys he puts on the PP make even less sense, he flip flops goalies too much, he had Kronwall playing 20 plus minutes on dead knees while being a negative presence on the ice, never sat Errorsson or DD for their brain farts and own goals...list goes on. I don't see him getting any better. He's in way over his head and has been since day one. Maybe Gallant isn't the answer either, but I'd give almost anyone else a chance over Blash at this point.
-
You'd rather Blash than Gallant?
-
What is the lowest they will pick with this finishing order from 30th overall of all non-playoff teams? Colorado Vancouver Arizona Las Vegas (same odds as Arizona, and picks no lower than 6th) New Jersey Buffalo Detroit Dallas Florida Los Angeles Carolina Winnipeg Philadelphia Tampa Bay New York Islanders Anyone know what the lowest the Wings pick can be, or is it impossible to have any idea until the lottery?
-
Would have been nice to have him coach the Wings next season, but the complacency train from ownership down is gonna keep the coach who's had the worst two seasons in Detroit in decades under his belt.

Back to the franchise he won a Cup with. Great way to end his career if this is gonna be his last coaching job before retirement. He should be able to get a hell of a lot more out of that team. They just need a solid no.1 goalie. Lehtonen COULD be if he worked harder. He always had a high skill level. Noemi is garbage, I don't care if he won a Cup and did pretty well in SJ. He's dropped off on a huge scale since going to Dallas. -
s***ty buzz. Kenny gave him every damn incentive to sign in Detroit huh? Besides bonuses, but knowing Kenny, he probably slipped him a huge stack of hundreds under the table. It's Frans Nielsen ffs, not John Tavares. Lol Not his money though, he doesn't give a s***.
