That's just the start of it. As that Leaf team gets better and wins more, even the slightest achievements will be blown up like mad. Especially if they win a playoff round. It's about time Mantha was given a real shot to show what he can do. What sucks is that it took two injuries and seeing Bertuzzi go up ahead of him before he got called up. Just goes to show it's way past time to go with the youth. Holland needs to move any pending UFAs or anyone over 30 (besides Z, let him do what he wants to) to any teams that are interested at the deadline for picks, prospects, or young NHLers if the Wings aren't in the playoff picture.

He's allowed less than 3 goals only once. The two against Ottawa. I think he's a good goalie and I like having him as a solid third option and think he has a bright future with the Wings, but based on the 4 games he's played, he hasn't been better. I doubt he's earned the starting job. I think he was started today to basically tell Mrazek to smarten the hell up. Loosing out on playing the outdoor game must piss him off alot.

Most of the goals any of the three goalies have allowed were from s***ty defence, not just Coreau. It's not isolated to him.

Why is that? I know Mrazek hasn't been great, but alot of the goals the Coreau has allowed were D breakdowns, same with Mrazek. Goalies are supposed to make the first stop, with rebounds, your teammates should be there.

Mrazek starting the Classic today it looks like. He needs to play better, but the other players need to smarten up around the net as well. The last two games there's been tons of defensive errors around the net. Players get 2-3 whacks at the puck while pylons like Errorrson just stand there and the younger guys don't cover their man. Mrazek and Coreau both had goals go in that shouldn't have had everyone else be in the right spot and actually do something to stop the opposing players. Hopefully today goes well and they can build off it.

Well said about '97, '98, '02. '98 he inherited the majority of the '97 Cup winning roster. Biggest change he made was trading Vernon and making Osgood starter. And of course he didn't have Vladdy. Brought in Gilchrist, Macoun, Mironov. For '02, the Hasek for Kozlov trade fell into his lap. Brought in Hull, Robitaille with Illitch's cash. Still had the major pieces of '97-'98 and Chelios, Duchesne who he brought in couple years before. Was Datsyuk's rookie season.

Taking other teams players and getting a high pick could make them better than some franchises who have been struggling for years. Not really fair for Vegas to buy a franchise and have a competitive team instantly.

But you can blame him for starting something that didn't need to be. Someone said Mrazek started 9 of the first 12 before Howard started 8of 9. Mraz went 4-4-1, Jimmy went 2-1 in that first 12. Was there really a reason for a change, or should he have let his number 1 continue? To me, 9 starts in which he went. 500 isn't enough to change things at the start of the season. The move was premature because Blash doesn't think normal and he panicked. Not like the change got him anywhere though because the team doesn't score goals for Howard for some reason, and he's on his second injury in not even three months.
