Back to Larkin a short while. Just wanted to remark on his excellent strides. Take a look when he pushes a break next game, he looks like a running frog. Text-book stuff and of course that manifests in super speed.

Krsmith, my argument stands and it is in sync with yours - if Larkin gets the minutes, whatever position and whatever line, he should stay. But if he starts getting 9min/game I'll get nasty. He's at around 17/game now, nice number.

As for Larkin, "top 6", "top 9", whatever. If he doesn't get enough minutes we might as well send him to the Griffins where he would get them. Will be interesting to see what happens after the Carolina game tomorrow which is his 9th and potentially last game the management can do that.

Kipwinger's suggestion works for me. I prefer Larkin with Zetterberg, Datsyuk have more elaborate plays which I fear Larkin can't quite read yet. And since someone will be injured, Pulkky will get his time.

I think Larkin needs to play with Zetterberg or Datsyuk. He's learning on the fly and can fly on the wing. Call it job training. And he needs top minutes. Sheahan fits as a 3rd center nicely, has a nice package of hands, vision, size and defense.

This. And the Kronwall - Ericsson pairing. Adds up to Babcockianism. The Kronner - Big E pairing needs to be broken up, E clearly can't keep up at top line level, he's just plain outplayed.

I'm a betting man but I have no idea if Howard or Mrazek will get the double-duty shift this week. Physical status should play a factor (they did get crashed into a couple of times, groin strains etc) so I'm guessing they'll decide Monday Tuesday.

Good positioning, played it safe, didn't look out of place. Looked stable on the board battles. Not creative, probably intentionally. Overall a good 9 to 5 performance.

Now that's stirring the pot. Ericsson does belong on the 3rd pairing from what he's shown this season and preseason. And some of the vets could use a little shakeup to get some sense of urgency. However I'm weary of letting Larkin center a line, there's just so much to handle at this level there, doubt he'll handle it all and it could lead to a direct loss because of it. But let's give it a try and let's see what happens. One try, if it doesn't pan out, he's back on the wings in my opinion. Too much at stake. Don't take it as I'm knocking at the kid, I just bought his jersey for typing out loud. DeKayser and Quincey have shown that they work well last season. Not much offense though. Shutdown pairing. Looking forward to watching how our wheel is holding up tonight.

I'm sure this conversation already has occured between Blashill and Holland right after this 5-game segment. Larkin has alot to work on. But the parts of his game that he has talents in are of top-NHL caliber. Such as vision and speed, simultaneously. He needs to learn from our best players. I'm sure he stays. Willing to bet if there are any takers.

He's more assertive this season. His shoulders and considerably lower stance in close quarter combat tells me he's been beefing up, he's got the goods now to push most people around.
