Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread
NerveDamage replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
per thehockeypress.ca Source said Blue Jackets have been in contact with the Detroit Red Wings regarding Gustav Nyquist. CBJ are VERY interested in Nyquist. Jackets would have to give up AT LEAST a Top 4 Def. to acquire him. Wondering who they'd be willing to give up. -

chalk another one up to the list ...I guess

what I meant is that when push come to shove, they've responded and carried the team for certain stretches. So, we'd all expect to see more of them the following year, and as you mentioned it was quite the opposite. I mentioned Marchenko because he did play 66 games and is one of the few young guys to have secured a spot on the roster. We can't deny that Larkin's rising meant less minutes for Nyq and Tats, when they were our go to guys in past seasons and, hopefully, AA will do the same.
-
the thing is that we've been relying on our young guns quite a bit. If it weren't for Nyq and Tats the streak would've ended a few years ago, and this past season without Larkin, AA, Marchenko, Mrazek (for a good chunk of the season) we would've struggle even more to make the playoffs. Not even the whole swedish mafia would've helped in that scenario. ...If you believe that sort of thing.

What's your take on McCollum leaving for a shot with the Kings, I mean, He was a #1 draft pick and, Although we might have got our money's worth with him in the Griffins, we lost him for nothing, no trade, no draft pick, nothing at all. I'm sure he could have been packaged along someone else for a D prospect, ...or a bag of pucks at least. -
not cool on his/her behalf, not cool at all. I was super pissed off that the Alumni game for our Stadium Series v Colorado wasn't broadcasted by NHLtv. if it wasn't for the youtube feed I found, I wouldn't have been able to watch it.
-
this could fire up the top prospects and trades convo in the official offseason trade. After all he was our top draft pick in 08, and gone for nothing
-
per General Fanager he had a one year contract (15-16) and became an UFA I don't know how pto's work. Does a player have to severe any ties to a team for said try out?

So this was the line up in opening night Justin Abdelkader - Henrik Zetterberg - Dylan Larkin Tomas Tatar - Brad Richards - Gustav Nyquist Johan Franzen - Riley Sheahan - Teemu Pulkkinen Drew Miller - Luke Glendening - Landon Ferraro Had Datsyuk been healthy, Larkin could have easily taken Pulkk's or Ferraro's spot, I think he could have easily been in the top 6 as well, bumping either Tats or Nyq to the 3rd line. And for him to make the top line in his debut he definitely impressed the coaches in training camp and there would, most definitely, be a spot for him for opening night, Loved the fact that he scored and got an assist and showed why he deserved to be in that top line. -

Via Terry Frei at the Denver Post: “Myself and my staff are going to get together (Saturday) and look at candidates, and go ahead and look for the right guy to take us to the next level,” Sakic said. “We’re going to put a group of candidates together and then start the interview process,” he added. “As you can probably all understand, this caught us all off guard. There’s no timetable. Obviously, we’d like to have it done before training camp. But we want to interview quite a few people and see who we all feel is the best fit.” Frei noted former Calgary Flames coach Bob Hartley as a potential replacement. Hartley helped guide the Avalanche to a Stanley Cup championship in 2001. A few more names out there to consider include Dave Cameron, Kevin Dineen, Dallas Eakins, Sheldon Keefe, and Ron Wilson. If Sakic and Co. are looking for someone who can replicate Roy's intensity and bring a similar old-school approach, there's always Mike Keenan...consider that a long shot. -

when I was thinking on wether I should get the NHL GCL I came across a Dutch site,I think it was hockeystreams.com, that for a yearly subscription you'd get every NHL game plus AHL, KHL and some other leagues, I can't remember exactly but I think there weren't any blackout problems. I remember reading somewhere it wasn't approved by the NHL so was affraid of losing my money and went for GCL instead Apparently there was a thread here in LGW about the aforementioned site http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/topic/56056-hockeystreamscom/

I know, there was a point in the latter part of the season where his production just stopped, I remember updating some gdt's and his stats wouldn't change at all. So we'll have to wait and see how he does, I was gonna say we'd have to wait and see how he does now that Pav's gone but there were stretches when they'd play in different lines. Hopefully our new acquisitions will strengthen where we're lacking and relieving Z from some duties.
