Leddy is the isles icetime leader the last 6 seasons, over 120 playoff games, one cup. Looks like a 2022 first rounder to me, prime target at the deadline I would think

Leddy,Hronek and Stecher. Stecher was Team Canada´s best defenseman at the WC, played really solid for us and will give us a nice return at the deadline. Cholo, Lindström and DDK are bottom pairing players at best and replaceable and I think Seattle is going for a forward anyway. Honestly look at the three, Cholowski didn´t get his s*** together in three seasons and it´s not looking like he´s going to get it done anytime soon. Lindström will probably never make it permanently to the roster, maybe a fringe NHL´er and DDK is more injured than playing and on the wrong side of his prime.

Cholowski´s decision making is awful and he often looks really lost on D, his positioning is poor. Comparable to Bowey in the way that they both have adorable skills and "upside", but with their lapses and defensive flaws. Cholowski doesn´t need to be protected because I don´t think Seattle would be interested in a defensive liability anyway...

you can have three buyouts. Problem is, when we buy out both, our three buyouts are used for two years(Abby´s still running 5 more years). Yzerman would never do that. That would rob us of Marleau/Carolina possibilities. Also there is no point really in buying out Nielsen or DDK. DDK might even give us a low pick at the TDL. To buy out Nielsen would, as @Akakabuto pointed out, save us $500k in real money, but that´s about it. The cap relief would be even slightly less as if we put him in the minors/taxi squad and we don´t need more cap space. At least we would keep an insurance guy in GR, who can teach some to the young guys, like Cleary did and just ride out his contract.

WC is running and we have 5 players in Riga. So far our three czechs (Zadina,Vrana and Hronek) have a hard time, only 2 points after three games. Zadina 1g, Vrana 1g,1a and Hronek 3a. Team Canada with Troy Stecher(no points) lost the first three, the last 1-3 against Germany and Moritz Seider. Seider (2a) checked Team Canada the same way he checked the SHL. He´s just a mean machine, at least ten hits (there was some ingame hit-highlights of #53). No doubt he will be a lock in the top 4 on day 1.

He will do some, but he might even start before the expansion draft. There will be quite a few interesting defencemen available because the other teams can´t protect all of them and might be willing to move one to us and get a return, rather than losing a player for nothing.

I agree that it can be difficult for him to play that many games, the long grind can wear heavily on a young player but I´m positive that Mo will turn up in the shape of his life in September, mastering all the challenges ahead.

54,61,56 and 64 games played in the last 4 seasons, the last three seasons were against men. Still not 82 games a year but closer. I have no doubt he will cope the load.

that´s where our biggest problem lies. We don´t have better alternatives and unless some miracle happens or we trade for Jack Eichel or find some unknown hidden gem we have to live with Larkin and that´s ok, could be worse. We just have to make sure he´s going to get help on the wings, which might be easier than finding a better center.

I think Berggren has a chance right away. I´ve seen quite a few games of him and he plays the right way. Offensive dynamo, a lot to like about him.

the Stecher setup

To assess Larkin through his ppg rate is a bit thin. He is playing on one of the worst teams in the last 5 years, was forced to play against the best night in night out and his support cast was let´s say mediocre and often hit by injuries. As SY said in his final presser, the points will come once the support cast is better and no one can argue that his two way play or work ethic is not were it needs to be.

my concern is mostly what the league will do with Seider once he´s here... The injury to Evans was unfortunate but nonetheless in part his own fault, he´s not the first one who got flattened because his head was down. Hard but fair hockey shouldn´t end up with suspensions. The check to Larkin´s neck should´ve been a suspension not a clean hit, even if the clean hit causes injury.

Semifinals on their way, one Redwing in each game. Stecher, with a real nice setup for the OT winner in the QF, playing for Canada against the US has a goal and an assist so far. Seider, playing for Germany against the finns, has 4 assists so far. The three chechs, Vrana, Zadina and Hronek, all ended up with 4 points each. Vrana and Zadina having two goals each to go with 2 assists, whereas Hronek has a goal and 3 assists.

Captain or not, we will have the complete package here in october and he will make them all shine if you have ten minutes...

Washington had the 7th best record which would have been #26, lost to Boston #25, Winnipeg advanced #24, Islanders advanced #23 and Tampa makes it #22. Let´s hope that Minnesota,Nashville(possible) and Montreal(unlikely) advance as well and we might end up with #19
