wow what a hero... Krupp is a waste of space. He is taking Cologne nowhere and to reach a final with the best team at the time is not an accomplishment, it´s the minimum you would expect. He´s got a contract till april 2022 iirc and I doubt he will stay that long.

well, it sure is a burning issue, but I think this year we have to live with the fact that we have to try the players we have and if they all fail at center we can upgrade next season. This season we have to try them all, look were they fit on the depth chart and go from there. It´s the first time in years, that we can look what´s in the system, because so much dead weight is gone. The most important thing is the way they play and that looks a lot better than last season.

as I stated in a former post, you keep forgetting that Veleno got a bit on a rollercoaster ride when he left NA to join a team on a different kontinent, different country, language, system and ice sheet on relative short notice in the midst of a pandemic. I don´t know where all the negativity about our prospects is coming from, but I don´t find it helpful. I try to see the positive things in players and Joe Veleno has a lot of them. He seems to find his game, is shooting more, is growing confidence, his team is winning recently with him scoring again in the last two games. Malmö is 10th in the moment. So maybe you give him a little more time to prove you wrong.

he was listed as the second line center most of the time according to stats.swehockey.se but it doesn´t really matter anyway, he is a good player and he will become a good NHL player, I don´t know if he will be our second line center or third line, even a winger, who cares. He´s got all the tools.

Veleno was the second line center, then switched to first line LW and played wing on the second line yesterday

It might be best for Cholowski to start in the AHL after an ok/good camp to try to earn his spot at the deadline and to come up with confidence, instead of playing 10-15 games and being demoted. He needs to find his game and if he doesn´t in the AHL, he probably should be traded.

Söderblom, nice one again

Babcock made Weiss a bad choice, because he was in his doghouse all the time and signing ~30+ year old at best middle six players to four and five year contracts at $4+m, is not what a good GM does. Abby, Big E, Weiss, Nielsen, they where all bad signings and trying to extend the streak does not necessarily mean to keep mediocre players for good money. He could have easily "overpayed" a real good FA and signed two cheaper versions of our mediocre players and we might have been better of, but that´s speculation anyway. All I´m saying is, that if his job was to keep the streak alive, he failed because of the way he took to handle things. He kept players out of solidarity and paid them for former accomplishments not what they where actually worth instead of letting them walk. That had to do with KH´s approach and not with ownership.

the last few years of Holland were halfhearted bullsh*t, he overpayed veterans, didn´t value our picks enough and was making wrong decisions in bunches.The deals for Weiss,Quincey,Cole and Legwand broke this franchise (ok, with Cole was a bit bad luck because of his injury) in addition to Hollands bad cap management and unwillingness to shake up the roster. When he was with it again, when streak ended and he was on full rebuild his work started to be better again. Don´t get me wrong, I still think that Holland is a good GM and what he has achieved is HoF worthy, so thank you KH, but it was time to move on, bring in a fresh broom to sweep out the dust and have a restart.

I remember the prospects camp in 2019, when Söderblom got flattened by Grewe (another really promising aggressive forward, who worked his way up to the third line on Djurgardens, with 4p 3g 1a in his last ten games and only 4PM in 19 games) you could see Söderblom´s talent but he was still a bit uncomfortable in his huge frame, didn´t really use it, but now he really looks like a hit on a project.

I would switch Niederbach and Veleno and Zadina and Mantha. Everything I´ve read or seen so far about Niederbach raises questions why no one picked him earlier. Sure there was his injury, but the talent level is so high, we might get away with two top ten players of this draft class. Cholowski won´t be on the team long enough and McIsaac is a big question mark with his injury history, but there is still Viro and Tuomisto. With the next draft adding 10+ players we should have enough talent to play with.

By the way, Germany won their first game yesterday and have a good chance to finish third in their group, despite playing with 9 F and 5 D. Stützle played more than 31 !!!!! minutes yesterday. I´m really glad that Raymond looks really good, otherwise I would be really p***ed off that we didn´t get Stützle

Kucherov´s injury "happened" when they figured out, that it will be really expensive to trade their ~$5m contracts. What they did with Ottawa was just a little bit of fiddling around with their cap, but the real cap problems will return next summer, then there will be the same problems again.

yes, two games in three days with 9 fowards and 5 d-men is a tough pill to swallow, I´m not 100% sure but I think within the next few days most will be cleared to play, the positive tests came on the 20th. If we could ice our best lineup, we would have 4 recent 1st round picks in Seider, Peterka, Reichel and Stützle and that wouldn´t look too bad. In the next few years there might be real strong german teams on the international stage with Greiss and Grubauer in net and Leon Draisaitl, Kahun, Sturm and Bergmann upfront added to the other four and we have quite a good team.
