prospect update https://www.mlive.com/sports/j66j-2020/01/ec98c7ecea9069/how-detroit-red-wings-prospects-are-shaping-up.html

We scored 108 goals so far, 71 of them at even strength, 24 on the powerplay plus 4 with an extra attacker, 3 shorties and 6 empty netters. That´s 26% of our goals scored with the man advantage with a pp% at 14,8% , 24 goals in 162 pp opp. If our pp% goes up to 21% (good for 12th in the league) that would have been 10 goals more. Adding 9% on our goal total. So to me help on the pp is very welcome.

there was a lot to like in that game, real good compete level. Once we have a back end, it´ll come

Givani!!!!!!!!!!!!

Larkin

we can´t just concede 1 goal, we need two within a few minutes almost every game.... Howie was great all night, not at all his fault
-
again...

it´s a bit unfortunate that Bowey isn´t blessed with a fast mind... all the tools, no clue how to use them...
-
but will

great game so far, I really hope we survive the first 3 minutes of the second period and can keep up our first period play. Jimmy is heating up as well, only 5 goals allowed on the last 90 shots
-
I love them, 3pm ET is 9pm for us europeans

Jimmy Howard is a proper roller coaster goalie, some nights he looks like the greatest goalie on earth and then like some emergency goalie who is in real life a dentist.... don´t get me wrong I kinda like him, he is the same as Mrazek and to me those two were a really good tandem, when one of them had a down phase the other one stepped up.

https://www.nhl.com/news/david-backes-placed-on-waivers-boston-bruins/c-314065214 might be a bad contract worth taking, depending on the return -
Although he´s on the wing, he´s playing more like a center, always first one back. His offense comes from his defensive play, creating turnovers through hard backchecking. He´s really good, fast skater, thinks the game faster than any of his teammates, which makes me curious to see how he´s playing with better players. I have no clue how good he is on faceoffs because he isn´t taking any so far. All in all you get an 18yo with one year pro experience and the chance to play directly in the AHL if he is not making the team out of camp, who plays a responsible, mature game combined with speed and skill. Whoever is picking him will have real good player

with the way SY is approaching things for us so far, it might not be too far fetched to start believing Seider as captain is a possibility. Especially if there is truth in the Larkin rumors https://www.nhl.com/redwings/news/seider-leading-team-germany-at-world-junior-championship/c-313429978

Stützle has all the tools to be a real good center, but plays LW in Mannheim and WJC in the moment. He played center in juniors though
-
Lukas Reichel (nephew of Robert Reichel) and John Peterka are also playing in the DEL at the age of 17 and might be second round selections this year and Justin Schütz a 6th round pick in 2018, but apart of these 6 the team is pretty much crap

As you stated, with him on the ice GER was a different team, he is a natural leader, I´ve seen it during the WC, in development camp, the prospects tournament and now the world juniors. He wants to be the guy, he is giving "orders", is talking a lot to his teammates and having this calm demeanor only helps, but being the captain from the get go might be a bit more than he can carry. I don´t know, he mastered every task that was given to him so far. He is 18 only on paper and as you said, probably(i think he is) the best defenseman not playing in the NHL. He might be a good captain, but it looks like a bold move to me to name a then 19 yo captain of an NHL team

on monday 9 am ET we are able to see Veleno go against Mo. Will be an interesting game, especially after that Canadian blowout loss to the russians edit: I´ve only seen the last period of that game, but if that is what Canada has to offer Germany has a chance

it´s his ribcage, it was hurt when he fell to the ice. https://www.mlive.com/redwings/2019/12/red-wings-anthony-mantha-out-at-least-four-weeks.html

again a great showing of Seider, 3 assists, more than 26 minutes of ice time. He is running the pp and we have already 5 ppg in this tournament. well he´s not only running the pp, we look like a different team with him on the ice...
-
really good first 40 of Germany, Seider played more than 25 min and the US scored only one goal(PP) with him on the ice. He made his presence felt.

I think SY just took a chance to get a good look if he is worth keeping or not. He obviously "impressed" not enough and the loss of Saarijarvi isn´t hurting our long term future. He gambled and it didn´t work out, but still worth trying.
