    2023 Trade Deadline Thread

Maatta is 28 and with his play it would be careless to let him go.

plus one from Zadina and Söderblom´s shootout winner. Vrana´s first one was a beauty, might have been difficult to fit a stamp between crossbar, puck and post. We really need his shooting ability. Hopefully he is back on track and we will see him in a wings uniform again.
  3. I bet Larkin wants an 8 year $71m contract. $8.875m aav

    2022 TDL

It´s early I know, but it´s a long time ago we had the chance to discuss the possibility of adding at the TDL. After 25 games we have 13 wins, so we´re on pace for 43 wins and 95 points which should be enough to sneak into the playoffs. We look like a team with a chance to play meaningful hockey in March and April which wasn´t the case in the last 5 years. Should we add when we´re still in the hunt? Should we sell no matter what to have one more year of filling our prospect pool? Is the return of Vrana our TDL upgrade?

the good thing is, we don´t have to speculate any further. The bad thing is, that we have to play Tkachuk more often now... https://www.nhl.com/news/matthew-tkachuk-traded-to-florida-panthers-by-calgary-flames-for-jonathan-huberdeau/c-335072346

Wings Draft Marco Kasper 8th overall

It was the same with Seider three years ago. People tend to forget that the european leagues are no development leagues like the AHL. The kids have to play against grown men at the age of 17 and if you don´t play the right way you´re not playing. That´s why their offensive potential is sometimes overlooked.

    2022 Playoffs Thread

A healthy Draisaitl would have made it a 4-2 loss instead of a sweep at best. The team is not good enough, McD and LD are. It´s better than Toronto though.

    2022 Playoffs Thread

Edmonton had almost 39 shots per game against them in the playoffs, they lost three games were they scored 5+ goals. That is simply not good enough and it´s not an easy fix given their cap situation. I agree that they have two of the top 5 forwards in league but what´s the worth of it when you concede 3.7 goals per game? You can´t win a cup that way and your excuses why they failed are embarrassing. The Avs are the better team at the moment and there´s no denying it.

    2022 Playoffs Thread

Maybe Colorado has the better team? Even with a healthy Draisaitl, the Avs would have won. As long as McD and Draisaitl have to play with that sort of defense and goaltending they have no chance of winning a cup and I´m not 100% sure that Holland is the solution for their problems.

    2022 Playoffs Thread

A tough task. 5 players to sign (incl. Fiala) and only $7.4m in cap space. They could try to move Dumba to free up cap space but that would weaken their D. It´s not an easy challenge.

    2022 Playoffs Thread

Minnesota had this one shot and missed, they are in cap hell for three more years. There´s probably a chance this year with Boldy still on entry level contract and the dead cap "only" at $12.75m but I don´t think they will be relevant for the foreseeable future.

    2022 Playoffs Thread

Holland has $7m in cap space and 8 players to sign. Noteable free agents are Puljujärvi and Yamamoto as RFA´s and Kane is UFA. Their offense will be a lot worse without some Holland magic and I doubt he has any. The Avs are a far more complete team and will win the series 4-2. They are a lot closer to become a dynasty than the Oilers. Holland can call himself a lucky b*stard that he inherited that amount of talent but the end product will be a disappointment.

    2022 Draft / UFA

you only get the cap relief when you are over the cap, it counts to reach the floor When a player is placed on LTIR, their cap hit remains on the teams cap payroll and it continues to count as it always did. It also does not provide the club with additional cap-space savings that can be banked for future use while the team operates above the salary cap. Instead, LTIR provides relief if the club's averaged club salary, or payroll, begins to exceed the upper limit. The amount of relief that the club receives is calculated on the day the player is placed on LTIR. There are three equations that are used to determine the LTIR relief, the first, the basic equation, can be used during the season and during the off-season. The second, the training-camp equation, can be used on the final day of the off-season in preparation for the first day of the season. The third formula is used when the team already has a player on LTIR.

    Bertuzzi and Hronek

I´m not so sure who benefits more Larkin or Bert but I´m sure that they´re both real good players. They are our Bergeron/Marchand type of players and we will need them. Bert for 8 years at $6-6.5m would be great if he wants more shorten the term

SY Press Conference - New Coach

“I find it difficult to hire people you don’t really know and that you haven’t worked with or somebody that you worked closely with who knows kind of the way I want things done or the way I do things,” Yzerman said. “That’s a bit of a challenge. I’m going to have to overcome that. Obviously, this is an important decision. I don’t want to rule anything out or exclude anyone because they have coached, or they haven’t coached, or they’ve not been in North America or whatnot.”
