2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?
ely s replied to Dabura's topic in General
your projected DRW roster is not as painful as last year´s and we all have to realize that there will only be a top pick in the 2020 draft if we win one in the lottery... -
sorry, but to me in the 2020 draft is only one semi important pick and that´s the first one. I can´t see SY waiting for another year for the turnaround. We wont pick in the top 5, I´m not even sure we pick in the top ten. He will try to gather more picks at the TDL, but only to upgrade the roster, not for even more prospects, but for trade purposes from draft day to the beginning of free agency! The pipeline is filled and our 2020 draft picks won´t be on the roster before 2022/23. Not a single person in Detroit is prepared to loose that long and definitely not SY. I agree that #11,53 and 90 will and should play in Grand Rapids at the start of the season, but we will see them rather sooner than later in Detroit.

9/18 Preseason GDT - Red Wings @ Blackhawks - 8:30 PM EST

I think I already mentioned it once or twice, I have not seen a d-man like him in a Wings jersey for a long time, sure he´s not perfect but he is only 18 and only going to be better. -

It´s still just guess work of someone else, he didn´t say so. Probably he´s just pissed off because they lost some real good D and is thinking about leaving, who knows... Luckily we don´t have to worry about that, he´s playing(or not) somewhere else -

who said that Buff thinks about quitting? There are various possibilities why he´s not at TC... -
for me it´s unfortunately not possible to see AHL games without buying the AHL game thingy, I can watch all sorts of live hockey through this http://onhockey.tv/ but no AHL games on there or does anyone of you have an alternative?
-
nice no-look pass from Berggren, but the goal looked more liked an intended pass which accidently became a goal
-
really nice, he looked good during PT and seems to not miss a beat at home. thumbs up!
-
Sure with their salaries they would clear, but no one would even give you a conditional 7th round pick at th TDL if you send them to GR. In the end it´s a numbers game and I think Seider has to make the impression that there is no way around him to force a move like that, but hey all he does is to continue to impress. does anyone know with whom he trained after practice? www.nhl.com/redwings/news/notes-seider-impressing-through-prospect-tournament-start-of-camp/c-309139322 that article sums up most videos I´ve seen quite well
-
it´s not that we really need them, but to give them away for free when you put them on waivers... although they might not be our favourite Wings, they are still experienced NHL players.
-
nope, it took Emmerton 4 years to get his first 2 NHL games
-
yep Primeau, Martin Lapointe was drafted the year after but only played 4 games in his draft year edit: Primeau played more than 50 games in his draft year
-
yes, 52 games as a 19 yo. Anyway it´s especially for defensemen a rare feat.
-
I would love to see them both on the ice in that game, but I don´t know how serious the concussion thing with Dach is. As for the three, you still want a good return for them and the start of the season might not be the right time for that, but yeah I totally agree, he would send them packing. Can anyone remember an 18 yo defenseman playing for Detroit in the last 25 years? I cannot...
-
all three, SY, JB and Ben Simon, were asked a lot of questions about Seider and they all tried to keep expectations as low as possible without really managing to do so. So yeah, there are a lot of vibes this way, but I don´t see a roster spot for him right now with the way our roster looks in the moment. On the right side Green and Hronek seem to be set, as well as Nemeth and DK on the left. Than you have Bowey,Daley and Ericsson who have to clear waivers. So it´s a bit difficult as of today, but preseason is yet to come and injuries might open a spot. He still has to deliver though...
-
yep, tomorrow we will get a first taste in the red and white game and if I´m not mistaken I heard he´s playing in the game against Chicago (2nd preseason game). I think Blash said so today in the TC coverage, but I´m not a 100% sure. I´ve seen so many videos the last two weeks that I don´t really know where I heard it... edit: Blash wanted to see him play against Kane and Toews, to see how far/good Seider really is.

if they send all LTIR to the marlies they will get a cap relief of ~$4M(1 mill each) that has them close to the cap, seems as a possibility. I don´t really know all possible options and at the end of the day I don´t care, because next year they will have serious trouble to assemble a proper d-corps. Next season the retained salary of Barrie will come on top, so Dubas has to be really creative then. -

I don´t think they can start the season like that, because if I have read the CBA correctly they are only allowed to be 10% over the upper limit of $81.5M which would be $89.65M. They have a ~$94M cap hit, so either I´m misinformed or they have to do something to be cap complaint. edit: https://www.capfriendly.com/ltir-faq must have something to do with performance bonusses... -

https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-training-camp-buzz-september-13/c-309104440?tid=282066676 looks like Dach got what he deserved for the blind side hit on Seider in game one of PT -
https://www.facebook.com/DETROITREDWINGS/videos/471147763484347/ @kipwinger although I think that you don´t give a damn what Art Regner is saying, I really recommend to watch that video from minute 22:40, just as a little teaser. Friday and Saturday there will be training camp coverage at noon and the red and white game at 12:30 on sunday. Afterwards I would like to get an assessment of yours, regarding #53.

We have a captain, he just refuses to play... as for the washed up vets, we all don´t have a clue what they mean to the team especially with the loss of Kronner. You can´t just have a bunch of kids.

how many 20yo goalies play in the NHL? how many first round pick goalies became superstars? The biggest problem to me drafting a goalie in the first round is the time it takes to get him to the NHL. In the last 10 drafts 7 goalies were taken in the first round. Mark Visentin #27 in 2010 played one game in the NHL, retired. Jack Campbell drafted at #11 in 2010 played 38 NHL games so far, 31 of these games played last season.Malcolm Subban #24 in 2012 played 48 NHL games. Vasilevskij taken #19 in 2012 got the starting job 5 years after being drafted, Ilya Samsonov #22 in 2015 no NHL games probable starter in AHL this year. Jake Oettinger #26 in 2017 remains to be seen where he will end up this year, AHL or ECHL and of course Spencer Knight #13 this year. So one became a starter so far and two have at least some NHL experience. Conclusion: it takes far to long to get any reward out of your first round pick. Especially when you pick top ten, your chances of getting an (close to) immediate return is a lot higher with forwards and a little later (on average) with d-men. That makes it clear to me, never pick a goalie in the first round unless you want to start a rebuild in two to three years and start from the net, because if we draft Askarov in 2020 he might be ready to play in 2024 (if we are lucky). Till then we might have a good goalie already...

he hasn´t seen Seider play, so how should he know better? -
I prefer to see stuff with my own eyes, instead of just relying on someone else´s opinion
