    2019-20 Prospects Thread

I find it very illuminating to have a chance to learn more about the players we have in our system, otherwise I wouldn´t know how good a skater and skillfull Soderblom really is or that Pearson looks like a possible bottom 6 C. I´m realistic enough to know that it´s a long way for most of them and some won´t make it all. At least it´s easier to rank the prospects within our system.

I know what you mean, but this time it might be a little bit different than before. Just watch him, it´s just a few days till training camp. In the meantime I will watch him again tonight.

but even in a prospect tournament he is playing against better, more experienced players than you would face on a daily basis in the Q for example and when you look like a standout you must be one of the better players. So it´s reasonable to believe that we found something special. You seem to be a pessimist or let´s say, someone who does not allow himself to be hyped and probably dissapointed. I´m more of a optimist trying to be as realistic as I can.

In May he played against NHL players, I don´t know if you know any of them, there was a guy called Dylan Larkin, I can´t tell if he´s any good. Tomas Tatar, Patrik Kane,... I don´t know them that well, so probably you can tell me...

    2020 Draft Thread

it´s just a prospect projected to be around #10, the range where I guess we are picking 2020. so far a 4game point streak in the european CHL, second line, 17 min/game as a 17yo

@kipwinger Luckily I got to watch the german games in the WC where Seider stood his ground against different competition(you can rank it yourself). I´ve seen him play at the DC,than I watched all three games in TC so far, so I got to see 24 of the best defensive prospects of Chicago, St.Louis and Toronto. Sure a small sample size but still he was imo the best of them (at age 18). The here highly touted Lindström was not the same level as Mo although being older, more experienced and playing in better competion(at least you said so). I wouldn´t call myself an expert, I´m just a DRW fan for quite a long time. But I´ve seen a lot of Detroit prospects over the years and a lot of d-men and Seider is the most promising player in a long time. To most it came a bit as a surprise to see him being picked at #6, I stayed up till 4 in the morning hoping to see SY picking him, because of the way he played during the WC. After years of regression on the DRW roster there are a few bright spots in the future and most of us here are just hopeful and happy to have something positive to talk about. No one said that he will be our #1 d-man at season start, most of us agreed that some meaningful minutes in GR would help his development, but from what I and others (you didn´t) have seen, there is reason to believe that he will be a legit #1 d-man. so unless you watch the replays of the three games, there is no further comment of yours regarding Seider needed, because you obviously have no clue what type of player he is.

I agree in general on your assessment, but you probably should watch the replay of these three games. Compared to the rest of our D-prospects, he looks like a veteran. I understand your cautiousness on prospects and we all might be a little hyped up, but watch him play... On pp he is a nightmare for opponents, distributing the puck quick and flawless, anticipating plays, finding open players, very good positioning. All three teams took cheap shots on him and he made them all pay for it. After his penalty which lead to the 3-2 for Toronto he really picked up his play and showed the will and ability to be the man on the ice. Just watch him

I was a bit dissapointed of Hirose´s second game, I thought he struggled a bit against a rougher St louis team, but got better in the last half of the game. Pearson did well with the additional time in the second game, solid in his first.

if you have $54M committed to 12 forwards you are basically f*cked. that would leave you $27M for 2 spare forwards, your whole defense and both goalies. I don´t think your offense can make up for your backend... edit: sry I didn´t see the 8 forwards, I thought it was 4. But still its your whole def + goalies. $20M for seven defensemen is thin. Tampa for example has $22M for their D and that is with Shattenkirk for $1.75M and Sergachev still on ELC. $50M for your forward group is the maximum you can spend imo. My preference would be a real good top 4 on defense and I would think you need around $25M for a top 5 defense in the NHL

Yes, but I would still prefer him playing in GR. I think first pair minutes in GR until the TDL and than on the second pairing in DET

on pp he was real good in both games, finding openings and getting his shot off real quick. against St.Louis it took him until his first goal to get his offensive game really going, it´s fun to watch, very promising. Strong defensivly, real good skater and seems to be a real good fit with Zadina

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

The NHL scouts just started really late to watch him, he rose in the rankings in the second half of the season and suddenly more scouts took notice. Yzerman was already real high on him while he was still in Tampa, he went to europe a couple of times to see him play. The NHL teams concentrate their scouting on NA, because you have the talent piled up in a few teams, whereas in europe you have around 30 countries with s***loads of leagues to watch. Without his injury he would have been a top ten pick on every piece of paper, with it he was ranged between 10-20. Tbh I don´t mind the fact that he flew a bit under the radar, because that´s the reason we got him and as I stated earlier, I might be a bit biased but I think we took the right guy. Long time ago that we had a defensman that looked that good with the winged wheel on his chest.

Zadina was strong on the boards, working hard and really has an impressive shot. I couldn´t see anything bad about his game in the last 40 minutes, he backchecked hard, won more puck battles than he lost. Him and Veleno can be a real dynamic duo. Seider loves the offensive game and he loves to shoot the puck. Some lazy Scouts didn´t realize that he was a 17 yo in a men´s league trying to keep his spot, playing a safe game, doing it right, learn, take your game to the next level, instead of being the man in juniors. Because he was in juniors in Germany most scouts didn´t have clue how his game was back then. They wrote down what they saw on video of Mannheim.

yapp, his cross ice outlet pass to Kuffner for example was spot on and you probably can now understand why I said that you have this strange feeling that he just knows all the time, the puck in our d-zone always ended up on his stick and he knew what to do with it. It´s not flashy, it´s just good. Apart from the misjudgment of his time and space before the 1-1 he played a pretty mistake free game, not flashy, just good. After TC there shouldn´t be left any doubters of his #6 selection.

He looks real good, some reports even think he´s the best skater in this draft. I try to watch him more often, what I´ve seen so far is quite impressive, he is fast as f*ck and is getting shots off quick and accurate. As the season goes on I think he will only rise in the rankings

We might be able to get AA, Mantha for ~$6M signed and Bert for $3.5M+ and if they want far more I think Yzerman will just trade them. I reckon Stevie Y is asking for a DRW discount to see who is all in and who is just after the money.

He wanted to fight Dach as well and he used every opportunity to hit him, it looks like a proper love affair. Detroit left a good impression and I really want to see the next game. the last to periods give you a good taste of what to expect from #53.

looks like Seider has got a new friend and apart of 10 minutes we had a real good game. Zadina was real good and would have deserved a goal. Unlucky he missed that last one. The defense was good (apart of the 10 minutes) Lindström and Regula looked good and Seider showed why he was a #6 pick I think. Veleno played real good, strong defensively, fast, him and Zadina look like a nice fit

the LTIR $$$ have nothing to do with next season, you have to pay your roster players and your injured players, if that sum is above the cap you get relief, without players on LTIR they wouldn´t be over the cap
