    2019-20 Prospects Thread

it is the first time since a long time and I have the strange feeling a lot of people here are a bit hard on him. Just because he was a projected top 3 pick, doesn´t mean that he is coming in and tearing the league apart, it doesn´t mean he knows everything and does everything right. Of course in our situation it would have been nice to get this type of player and a lot of us were hoping he would be straight away, but how many top 10 picks are on an opening night roster right after the draft? Give him a bit more time to learn the nhl/pro game and I´m sure we will all get our reward.

    Eklund Rumor: Mantha for Ristolainen

I posted this link in the ´Grade Yzerman´ thread, read it to the end, it´s unlikely we will see any move like that before the start of the season. https://www.nhl.com/redwings/news/yzermans-longtime-friend-excited-to-see-him-back-in-detroit/c-308687856

    Eklund Rumor: Mantha for Ristolainen

I would not call Green overrated. He is worth his money. With him in the lineup we´ve had a 20-19-4 record without him 12-21-6. Unfortunately he is often injured. The Ristolainen thing would only make sense when Greeners illness isn´t over.

and Greener third pair? Bowey packaged in the deal? and who is filling in in our top 6 foward group?

unfortunately they don´t have the cap space... edit: unless they put Jack eichel in

    Eklund Rumor: Mantha for Ristolainen

just because we already have quite a few not so good contracts, we don´t need to take on another one. Risto is their most expensive d-men, usually your best paid d-men is your best d-men. So why do they want to trade him? Obviously they are not overly happy with him which makes me wonder... I don´t see the need for this trade same as Akakabuto does and even if SY would make it, we would be left with an even bigger hole in our top 6. Is there anybody on the Sabres roster who could fill that hole? do we need another RH d-men?

I agree that you need talent, but talent only get´s you so far as well. you need both talent and character. In the NBA was a few years ago a really talented small white guy coming into the league. Behind the back passes and all sorts of highlight passes, etc. His coach than said to him " you showed me what you can, but now proof that you are competent" He was then traded later and played around 3 seasons in the NBA. Star potential with bad character...

Uwe Krupp isn´t even liked in Germany... What do you need the talentest player for if he only shows up every other game. I would then prefer a guy who is less talented but gives his all every shift and Mannheim wants team first players

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

Character above talent, that is the philosophy the coach and the GM of Adler Mannheim have and they really like him. Seider had won Yzerman over during his draft interview with him. it took more than 40 minutes which was more than double the average time of his interviews with the other teams. I´m not sure, but I believe Yzerman would have picked Seider even if Byram would have been available. He has a real strong character, will and a lot of confidence not bigheaded and very humble. Yesterday I read in his hometown paper that he has the mindset to make detroit, so fingers crossed. I haven´t found it yet, but probably someone here can get the footage of the GER-USA game in Mannheim before the WC. There you can see how he does against NHL competition and make up your mind.

Wings acquire Adam Erne from Tampa

I kind of like the waiting period to a certain degree. Erne for example, at first I thought why another lh foward? but because we all have so much time you get quite a lot of information about a player I didn´t know that well tbh. now it all makes more sense to me and I can start remodeling my thoughts. Through all the waiting people start digging for information, which gives us all more background information about players and prospects. information we wouldn´t look for during the season. Our overall "knowledge" about our players in the organisation gives us opportunity to discuss and the standard of discussion in this forum is very likeable.

I read an article which said Seider wants to get acclimatised and work out and train with Red wings players, so my guess is that he starts training on monday. does anyone here have some sort of insider who knows where and with whom he´s training?

he left Germany on Wednesday, so as long he didn´t go by boat, he should be in Detroit by now.

News From Around the NHL *Mod warning page 75*

It has nothing to do with greatness, the Detroit Red Wings have a philosophy and a certain way they treat their players, which is one reason why I am a Red Wings fan for more than 25 years now. You might not like him that much, but his whole career he gave his best for the Wings and when he is retiring after the season I can´t see Steve Yzerman trading him for a fifth round pick at the TDL and I can´t see a trade with Calgary, given their cap situation.

Don´t get me wrong, I think he will be a #1 defensemen. Listen to the podcast I posted from 22:30 on, that´s his Seider part.

only if he is happy with around $3M a year, I don´t know how Calgary could manage more. Even the 3 seems too much taking into account that they have around $8.5M in cap space and three players to sign including Tkachuk...

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

Craig Button said Seider will at least be a Brandon Carlo, so I´m fine with that. Seider is flying to Detroit today. Cholo was a little like Larkin in his first season. A real good start and then reality kicked in. He still looked very promising though. He just needs a bit more top pair minutes GR. Hopefully he will be in Detroit for good after the TDL. Hronek didn´t play well enough at the start of the season and was sent back to GR, where he really put the work and effort in to proof he belongs to the big club. Strong finish to the season and real good WC. He can develop behind Green on the second pairing and at the TDL move up to the first unit. I know a lot of people aren´t overly excited about this season, but I really am. We have so many exciting players in the pipes and it´s only 3 weeks till the Traverse City prospect tournament, where we get to see how much effort our youngsters have put in during the summer to make a case for themselves.

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

I don´t think they really care about "burning" one year if he a) plays well enough and b) if the opportunity is there. Again a lot of ifs, but if Seider and Cholo are the #1 pairing to start the season in GR and Seider performs well enough, he will be on the second pairing in Detroit and Hronek move up to the first when Green is traded at the TDL. During the DC 3on3 and 5on5 I sometimes had the impression that there was a man playing in junior competition and I truly believe he plays around 20 games in Detroit this year. I try to be as unhyped as possible, but he looks pretty ready to me.
