I agree. I think you could even say from 2000-2012 was our downfall. We drafted nothing but depth players in that 12 year time frame. Franzen, Kronwall, Nyquist, Tatar, and Howard were/are all good, but not centerpiece players. All-in-all pretty symptomatic of a dynasty team on top of he league. The fall was inevitable. Datsyuk and Zetterberg were a bizarre adrenaline shot for a team that probably should have started descending around 04/05.

I'm so sorry. Finns are disgusting and their language is actually retarded.

The kids. I say treat them like their in the NHL. Squeeze every drop out of them. Yell at your own kid a lot too, so the other kids don't hate them for being the coaches kid.

Shinkaruk was drafted in 2013 by Van. Draft position complications aside... 2013: They pull Horvat. We pull Mantha, Bertuzzi, and Janmark. Win Red Wings. 2014: They pull Virtanen, McCann, Demko, Tryamkin, and Forsling. We pull Larkin and Ehn. Despite Virtanen disappointing and Tryamkin going back to Russia, this is a pretty amazing draft for Van. We got the obvious gem in Larkin, but Demko is looking like a Vezina caliber goalie already. I'm gonna give Van the win on this one. 2015: They pull Boeser. We pull Svech. Easy win to Van at this point. 2016: Things start getting hard here. They pull Juolevi, we pull Cholowski and Hronek. Juolevi isn't in the league yet, but he looks damn good, and will probs be pretty swell. The fact that we got two Dmen already in the NHL though I think puts us over the top. Win Red Wings. 2017: They pull Pettersson. We pull Ras. Easy win Van. 2018: I have my own harsh bias here, but I'll try to be fair. I think there's a distinct possibility that Hughes alone may outweigh both Zadina and Veleno combined. Jett Woo is pretty decent as well. But I like the rest of our draft outside of the first round a lot more than theirs. Berggren, McIsaac, Regula, among others. Win Red Wings. 2019: Podkolzin and Hoglander were good picks, but I'll go full homer on this one. Loved this draft year for us. Seider is god tier. Lots of other good players for us in their as well. Win Red Wings. I score it 4-3 Red Wings. Through this period though I think Van pulled more elite players than we did. And I'm resting a lot of faith on our last two drafts, which is almost certainly Detroit bias on my part. This could easily flip 5-2 in favor of Van in a few years time.

But what kind of approach will you take? I'm helping out with a HS team (not hockey) right now and I'm the good cop. All the kids more or less look at me like the cool younger guy I presume. Little do they know I would go full torterella on them if I was in control.

Lmao you pathetic babs haters never fail to make me laugh with your coaching threads Face it, babs will be infinitely more successful than any of you sad virgins ever will be. You are on the wrong side of history, get over it losers

For anyone who missed it. The Russian 5 documentary is airing on NBC after tonight game. Worth the watch I promise. You missed Larkin. Larkin is a habitual rule breaker and everyone lets it slide. You wanna fix this team? The first step is putting Seider on it. Yzerman has failed me in this one regard. -

I don't doubt the science, it's the political existential conclusion "THE GREAT FLOOD WILL KILL US ALL IN 10 YEARS IF WE DON'T ATONE FOR OUR SINS" I doubt. As Dabs has pointed out this doomsday environmental fear mongering has gone on for quite a while now... and none of the cataclysmic results ever rear their head. I do appreciate that the narrative has been changed to "climate change" as that at least is a lot more accurate. In regards to flooding, something like 90% of glaciers are already submerged beneath the oceans surface. And solid ice displaces more water than liquid water. If they melted tomorrow we'd actually likely see water lines recede. The one to worry about is the Greenland ice shelves. Those are out of the water. But again, there's not enough volume their to make a significant global impact of any kind. To keep typing when I should stop, historically warming is nearly always far more advantageous than cooling is. You look at the warmest periods in the earths climate and the landscape is dominated by rich mega fauna and almost literal explosion of species. Then you look at periods of cooling like the younger dryas and the results are reversed. So I don't automatically buy into warm = bad. @MabusIncarnate we are simple and humble learned men of science here. No politic. -
I think this team would have done better with an overrated stale god tier coach like Babs, than a fresh roided up college/AHL coach like Blash. Leafs could win 3 cups in a row and they would want to fire their coach

If they're joking they got it past me. Many of them even deny space exists now. I was into this way before there was a TV show. Read all of von Danikens books etc. Was interesting pseudo-science before the history channel butchered the entire dogma. I don't believe the ancient aliens stuff, but I think the true take-away is that ancient man was just as - if not more in some aspects - intelligent as modern man. There seems to be a common belief that everyone ran around in loin clothes, speaking in grunts, and bopping wooly mammoths on the head. Everything was likely a lot more sophisticated, and our own misconceptions is probs a result of our own hubris.

The sky has been falling on that one since the 1960s. Environmental collapse predictors are the modern equivalent of religious rapture predictors. The problem with Florida is it's Africa hot for half the year. Climate wise the Pacific NW is the most superior ideal alpha climate in the world. Even Californians envy our god tier weather. -
So you're a fascist
-
No matter how you word it or phrase it, Babs will always be in the mix for top5 or top10 coaches in the league. Blashill is never in that conversation. That's the difference.

This always amazes me. Sure Manhattan is a happening spot with good restaurants and s***, but even with an NHL salary wouldn't paying $800 a month for a parking spot annoy you? Wouldn't having a penthouse with no backyard and is 1/6 of the size of the home you could afford piss you off? Don't endless crowds of people piss you off? I bet the cocaine is good thou -

The giving up 5-6 goal games will stop with fighters. We still might lose 3 to 1 or something, but I think the embarrassment for fans and players stops. I hate Barnaby, but I was listening to an interview with him and he pretty much says if his team was down by 2 goals there's pretty much no way you're going to stop him from going out and picking a fight with someone. That's exactly what this team needs, and it can probably be added cheaply. It's about changing the narrative of the game and building confidence. I think I'd rather see Witkowski and Brian McGrattan in Ehn and DLR's roster spots -
Did he though...? Disagree. My Babs lineup was more of a joke if anything. I think he may have Gelndog in the top 6 still, but as would I at this point. I literally believe the exact opposite. Hired by another team, yes. Does well, I sincerely doubt.

Even I would freak out n break stuff if he drafted Timmy over Lafren

The more I watch Tim Stutzle the more I think he is our guy. Will fit right in with Seider too. Germans are the new Swedes.
