Who's more R-tarded, Hollland or Yzerman? -
I tend to agree. Unfortunately after stints like this, the coach is the first to go. That's the nature of the business. It might not even be Blashill's fault, but you do it with hopes of reinvigorating the team. This exact coaching change formula was on full display last year with STL. At the end of the day, Blash is just a baby sitter like most coaches. It's not going to hurt us to fire him. Worst case scenario is more of the same. To be a dickhead, I do find it amusing that everyone was stoked to replace Babs with Blash, and now less than 4 years later the fan base is deciding "fresh voice" Blash maybe wasn't as hot as everyone thought he was...toldyasotoldyasotoldyaso

Andreas Athanasiou Officially Signed 2 yrs. $3M AAV

Were we wrong about AA? Everyone - including myself - seemed to think AA was better suited for the wing and not C. But AA s struggling at wing now, and last year scored 30 goals as an experimental center. What if AA at 2C was the solution all along? -

It is refreshing having Yzerman. My attitude completely changed about him after the Biega and Perlini trades. Whereas Holland was "wait and see" ad nauseam, Yzerman has quickly shown he's willing to address needs at the drop of a hat. This is not "no different then the hollopllan" as I preached earllier this summer. Yzerman is dfferent. He's been very assertive, which is not the normal around here. Last time Holland did a Biega type deal was Kent Huskins back in 2012 if I remember correctly. I'm honestly hoping he gets wild with trades around Jan and Feb. What'd we have to lose... -

Maybe we can flip Perlini for him When is it acceptable to call this guy a thug again? Maybe all-around dirt bag is the better phrase. -
Money on Blash is an assistant coach somewhere else by this time next year

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

I am the happiest boy in boy town No more fights for Lil Dylan. Big Dylan got this. And now the league will know our vengeance. Yzerman must really not like Ericsson -

Oilers No Longer An Option For Poolparty Well Holland handled business quickly in Finland I actually think we might be a primary destination. Pulju wants top 6 minutes and a change of scenery. We are one of the few teams that can offer that immediately. Yzerman is also in Finland with these two right now, desperately needs to stop the Red Wings free fall, and still owes us our monthly trade for Nov. Word from Edmonton fans is that Holland has set a very high asking price. We are in a unique position to offer him former players of his that he likes. Athanasiou + prospect or pick? Glendening + prospects and picks? Who else would Holland want? Maybe Greener or Bowey? -

I see Seider as like a Chelios or a Pronger, yeah. Big strong workhorse Dman who's going to amass a lot of points almost solely due to the fact that he's always on the ice eating huge minutes. He's gonna Raffi's positional smarts, but not Raffi's offensive acumen. The later is Hronek's job going forward. You see a bust, Yzerman sees a cheap project -

Yeah I preached "maintaining the culture" for a while now That maintaining all goes down the crapper if the season continues like this. May as well have scorched the earth if this was gonna be the result anyway. -
If I had to design a forward group: Bertuzzi - Bertuzzi - Bertuzzi Bertuzzi - Bertuzzi - Bertuzzi Glendening - Glendening - Glendening Glendening - Glendening - Glendening Perfection
-
Larkin: first elite forward drafted by the Red Wings in 15 years Hronek: first top4 Dman drafted by the Red Wings in 16 years Elite Red Wings drafting

Count me as an Askarov guy

Welcome brother, take a torch. There's pitchforks in the front, and cookies in the back.

Look at Ottawas contract situation too. Almost every contract has 1 year left. They are positioned to sell and take tanking to a whole new level. Meanwhile we're loaded with unsellable long term contracts.
-
In the past 10 years there have been a few 1st overall picks who I thought were clearly worth tanking for at the time: Tavares, Hall, McDavid, Matthews, and Dahlin. I missed the mark on MacKinnon and Ekblad I guess, but oh well. Lafren to me is clearly in the group of must haves. He's def not a RNH, Yakupov, Hughes, Hischier in my book. So we picked a good year to be awful. Lafren is worth going for... but we're up against Ottawa, the biggest disaster of a team in 300 years. And they have 2 possible lottery picks. Out tanking them will be like trying to herd cats.

Wings fans 2011-2019: Big E is pylon who should be waived Also Wings fans 2019: noooooooooo put Big E back on the team

I don't mind Zadina. Not a bad player, just doesn't fit. Probably doesn't fit on any team in 2019. Actually a pretty bad player. Nice guy though.
-
Ericsson needs to be back in the NHL quite honestly
-
I think Chris Terry needs a call up. 18 pts in 11 games in the AHL right now. Give the a man a job plz, he's possessed right now. Seider up to 6 pts in 11 games! Veleno and Zadina are pretty sub par so far. At this rate we will need 10 years of drafting before we climb out of this hole.
-
I keep coming back to this, but we probably need to keep playing Bowey or else his trade value will sink. It's the unfortunate state of things. Like Dabs said yesterday, I pretty much full expect guys like Bowey to get traded at this point. Stop talking s*** about my fav players Erne is gritty and has wheels. I like that about him. Biega is gritty and has wheels. I like that about him. Ehn is mostly a mistake free place holder DLR is mostly a mistake free place holder None are needle movers, but it's probably better to have them on the big club than Ras/Svech/Zadina getting butt slammed every night
