Current mood: 1. Leafs <----- Perpetually my most hated. Only the turn of the century Avs could dethrone them. 2. Hawks 3. Bolts <------ New thing 4. Pens <------ Still bitter 5. Bruins 6. Avs <-------- Falling quickly 7. Ducks <----- Why are they always so easy to hate? 8. Sharks 9. Blues 10. Ottawa <-- Purely for incompetence. Like what're you even doing?

I would feel like more of an intellectual with names like Giroux, Couturier, and Gostisbehere on the roster... Perhaps I will play le hockey? Write my memoir in the cafe? Enjoy a cigarette in the moonlight? Alas, I do not know. Time is so fleeting and the grave so near. C'est la vie. When did the Flyers become a buncha soft frenchie nerds? The Wings are like the biggest boom or bust franchise of all time. Production line era greatness --> 30 years of dead wings ---> The glorious streak era ---> Whatever you wanna call this current dump heap. We really don't do mediocrity well, unless you wanna count the end of the streak I'm not ready to call Hart a stud yet after 30 games, cause I hope he's not. If that's the case I think that club is a definite dark horse. If not this year, soon.

Speed and Ras's skating aside Centers have to cover more ice in the D zone. Big players by their very nature cover more ice. Chara doesn't need to be fast because he can touch one half board with his stick and then in like two strides touch the opposite half board with his stick. At the very least I think playing Ras at center is like adding another Ericsson to your defensive scheme. Big pylon who can guard the front of the net.

Former Red Wing, Greg Johnson, Dead at 48

Poor guy gets developed by the Wings, plays 4 seasons with us, then gets traded at the 97 deadline for Sandstrom. Sandy plays 34 games and the playoffs for us and gets a cup, never to be seen with the Wings again... That would suck

I think the Flyers are in a very nice spot all of the sudden besides goaltending. But Hart was a high ranked goalie in his draft year. He could pop off and be a darkhorse goalie. He was ok for them as a 20 year old last year... Imagine if Patrick, Sanheim, and Provorov decide to go off this season. Suddenly they'd be one of the deeper skating groups in the entire league I would think. They've got room to shed people if they want to too, because they have plenty of good prospects lying in wait: Rubstov, Laberge, Matt Strome, Ratcliffe, Frost, O'brien, Farabee. Not sure which ones are eligible to play when, but Philly has been quietly stacking a lot of decent talent.

Having a huge physical center with offensive upside feels like sucha weird thing to have these days, but by god what a flex option down the middle. Veleno at 1C and Ras at 2C in GR this season should be a pleasure to watch.

Back to goalies. If Carter Hart can pull it together this year for the Flyers I think they could potentially be a STL Blues story this season. Giroux - Couturier - Voracek JVR - Hayes - Konecny Patrick - Laughton - Lindblom Raffl - Vorobyov - Aube-Kubel Ghostbear - Sanheim Provorov - Niskanen Hagg - Braun Hart Elliot The core players are all experienced and in their prime. Then they have a lot of fresh talented legs filling in around them. The top 3 lines are deep. The entire defense is stacked. Waiting for the season to start is boring

If I recall correctly Kaski grew up playing forward, then at WMU Andy Murray moved him to defense (when Kaskii was like 20) to use his shot from the point. So Kaski has been playing D for like 4 years now.

I have no doubt Ericsson and Daley would clear, Bowey would probably get picked up though. For another team to take on Ericsson or Daley we probably need retain half salary and trade. Might be easier to do that if we let them start on the roster. But if we really want to add Seider we can waive one or both of them I'd think.
