Veleno and Seider have both looked really good out there. I have nothing really negative to say. Zadina has looked frustrated at times. His timing still seems to be a bit off, and he whiffed on a couple of shots that last game. Kuffner has looked great. He has a great shot and great release, that we really didn't get to see in the short stretch last year. Smith kinda reminds me of Abdelkader. He's gonna need to grind and be nasty to make this team. Peach Pearson has been a pleasant surprise as you say. Looks like a typical try-hard gamer out there. I think with Smith, Hirose, Kuffner, and Pearson you can tell they're a bit older. They've played with great pace and seem to be a step ahead transitioning up and down the ice. The player I've most been surprised by is Larsson's teammate from Denver Lukosevicius. Kinda like Pearson, he's a habitual try-hard and has been getting rewarded for it. I'll be interested to see how he plays for the Griffins this year.

Seider took a lot wristers from the point which surprised me. I prefer a guy who claps bombs but thats probably just a personal preference. Seiders positioning is superb. Hes always there to grab the puck or recieve a pass for a reason. Great IQ.

Well I watched the game and really only watched Seider. I'll have to watch it again later and focus on Zadina. Seider likes to shoot huh? He even had an apple seider taken away from due to a high stick on the tip in. I was shocked by how much he was shooting and how comfortable he looked running the point. His passing - while simple and not overly creative - is crisp and on the tape. Seems to make good, or at least safe, decisions with the puck. As well his choices on when to pinch seemed astute and overall play in the backend. I'd describe him exactly as scouts do: big smart mobile Dman with definite offensive potential on the horizon. He also looked liked a leader out there. He was calling plays and telling guys what to do on the faceoff. The whole Dach v. Seider thing was great too. The two immedately identified each other and battled. And Seider didnt back down at all. Very very happy with this selection right now.

He's a better man than me.

Well Mo just made $92.5K when he signed his contract a month and a half ago. He'll also make $925,000 annually this year if he makes the Wings and $832,500 annually if he goes back to Mannheim. If he goes to GR or OHL though he only gets 70K!!! Gotta think my boy wants to play in Detroit or Germany, but if he's willing to stick it out in GR and be ready for call-ups and pay raises that would be much appreciated Mo.

Well if Mrazek holds up the Canes should be pretty decent again this year. Wonder why it took so long on Gardiner if he was willing to settle for $4. There's lots of worse Dmen making less than this. Figured he waiting for the Leafs to get their s*** together. Bizarre. -
Sounds like Ericsson

Sounds like Marleau is going elsewhere though. Shame they might not be reunited for another run. -
Even Lidstrom went back to Europe for two seasons after being drafted. Cholowski - Seider Hicketts - McIlrath Lashoff - Lindstrom Saarijarvi That would be a pretty fun AHL lineup to watch this year. Is Lindstrom coming over this season? Can't remember, or maybe it hasn't been announced... Then Ericsson and Daley - and possibly even Green - retire or move on after this season and we promote Cholowski and Seider to play the 2nd/3rd pair. 2020/21 Dekeyser - Hronek Nemeth - Bowey Cholowski - Seider Kaski?

Holland missed out on Brassard and Filppula. Should've predicted he'd chase Sheahan next. -

Lets change the phrasing to "players you can build a team around" instead of elite. I think you can build a team around Larkin... I don't think you can build a team around Mantha or Bertuzzi. Likewise I think you can build a team Tarasenko, ROR, and Pietrangelo. That's what I think we need. 2 more solid building blocks that can help the D-Boss. I don't really care too much exactly where they slot in, but I'd like at least one to be a Dman. Hopefully that's Seider or Hronek. St. Louis really lucked into a HOT rookie goalie this year. I'm far from convinced Binnington is the real deal yet, but we'll see. -
Kronwall gets very emotional about retirement in this interview. Fighting back tears the whole time.

If I have to asses the teams strengths/weaknesses I think we're strongest at forward and weakest in goal. Bertuzzi - Larkin - Mantha Athanasiou In the pipe: Zadina, Veleno Hronek In the pipe: McIsaac, Cholowski, Seider Nothing In the pipe: Larsson But really I'm not overly concerned about differences in position strength. At this point I think we need another Larkin at literally any position. Lafreniere winger? Plz gibs. Jack Hughes center? Plz gibs. Elite goalie or D? Gibs gibs gibs. -
I figured once we signed Nemeth that Kronwall was done. Always viewed him as the replacement, or at least the stand-in, until Cholo or someone else can get their s*** together. I think the biggest surprise from Yzerman could be his treatment of the vets. He isn't the one who signed Daley or Ericsson or Abby or Helm or Nielsen. He may be more inclined to not stand by them when their play is lacking. Allowing maybe an increased opportunity for guys like Kaski and Bowey to earn more responsibility. Just spit-balling that though

Very happy with Seider and Hronek pushing forward Hopeful about Cholowski and McIsaac Meh about everyone else Yzerman did a a real good job stacking Tampa's D for Brisebois. All Brisebois has had to add is a bought-out Shattenkirk and depth plugs Witkowski and Schenn. Tampa has a one two punch in Hedman and McDonagh, with Sergachev, Cernak, and Foote coming up already or on the way. Really not fair. If Yzerman can replicate that in anyway ooo boy -

"You got Kronwalled" was one of the better arena chants

Agreed. Howard is in placeholder status. No reason to upgrade the net right now, and I think a tandem of Bernier and Pickard would destroy what little confidence this team has left. Just keep him for now.
