    2020 Offseason Rebuild Thread

Precisely. I will never be against winning. I adore watching the red boys win. The 15 game stretch at the end of the season where Bertuzzi Larkin and Mantha were clicking like the next big thing was awesome to watch. I was very annoyed by fans that were angry that we were winning. Those games were big confidence boosters for the future leaders of our team. And f*** it, Yzerman was taking Seider regardless of where we picked. And of course losing is good for our situation too,so I'm generally ok when it happens. So basically my mood level is: Red Wings Or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the rebuild

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

Agreed with the general assessment of Zadina. His work in the cycle and defensive positioning are exactly what needs refining. Where I might disagree is that he will or should make the team out of camp. But I'd be very happy to be wrong about that. Also agreed with Hronek. Kid is really smart, and I think his steady calmness with the puck and determination to make the correct play go overlooked a bit. He makes a lot of minor things look easy. I haven't watched much Veleno to be honest. But it does seem like he's worked on his goal scoring ability based on his stats like the article says. I will continue to preach the good word of McIsaac. This kid is very good. Deserving of 1st round pick attention good IMO. Smart, fast, strong, skilled. It's hard for me to find faults. He's darkhorse one of our best prospects I think. Most of the other prospects I haven't watched enough of to commen,t or I'd just be repeating what was already said. Solid article. Ben Kerr seems to know his stuff.

News From Around the NHL *Mod warning page 75*

It was after day one and he was talking to HSJ and the rest of the media swarm on the draft floor. The exchange was basically: "Do you have an update on Kronwall?" "No... well I do, but it's not something I'm willing to share you [media] at this time" So personally I think he knows Kronner is done or most likely done, which is why Nemeth is here.

Grade The Offseason 2019: Yzerman's Opening Moves

It's eerily similar to Holland. I'm sure throughout the year Holland and Yzerman formed their vision and game plan for the immediate future together. This offseason is probably the last glimpse of Holland influence we will ever see. That is until Yzerman signs Eaves in the 2020 offseason...

Grade The Offseason 2019: Yzerman's Opening Moves

By continuing Holland's general plan/vision, I didn't mean do exactly as Holland does. Signing Filppula and some no name Dman for $3 mil seems like Holland to a T.

No one is talking about Gardiner in the media. It's sorta bizarre honestly. Leafs have no space and maybe only enough to sign Marner when the season starts. But no one is discussing why Gardiner hasn't signed with them or elsewhere.

He made a comment on draft day that he knows more than us about Kronwall, but he's not sharing. Probably something medical?

Grade The Offseason 2019: Yzerman's Opening Moves

Yeah Yzerman has shown (and I think said) that he doesn't really believe in building through FA. It's drafting and trades with him, unlike Holland. Agree with you pretty much 100 here. I think he might also be looking at the Seattle expansion on the horizon. That's a good reason to be patient. He had to lose Gusev the first time due to the Vegas expansion.

Grade The Offseason 2019: Yzerman's Opening Moves

I think it's telling that Filppula and Nemeth are both signed for two years. I think that's the exact amount of time Yzerman wants this rebuild to last until we start to accelerate. At that time our core will look like: Mantha, Athanasiou, and Bertuzzi: 26 Hirose: 25 Larkin and Svechnikov: 24 Hronek and Cholowski: 23 Rasmussen and Larsson: 22 Veleno, McIsaac, Berggren, and Zadina: 21 Seider: 20 That's 15 players who could be on the roster at that point at 26 or younger. More than a few still may be on ELC's too. In the meantime Filppula can fill the hole that Nielsen was never able to. And in terms of Defense we could be without Ericsson, Daley, and Green next year. Nemeth I see as a decent flex option there.

All Purpose Grand Rapids Griffins Thread

Oh sorry, I thought Stutzle was a Dman. He's excelled everywhere it looks like. If Mo goes back to the fatherland he can recruit this kid for us. DEL has some catching up to do. It would be good if they can get on par with the NLA.

If I was Dubas I'd strongly consider taking the four 1sts right now. It would save them a significant amount of cap hell in the future, and they will still have a very strong team without Marner. (8) 1st round picks instead of (4) over the next 4 years could potentially set them up as a perennial contender for a longggg time too. I think the fact that Dubas might opt to take the picks should scare a lot of teams away. Not being able to sign Marner because of the Horton and Clarkson LTIR kicking in at the start of the season, could be Dubas almost daring a team to offersheet Marner.
