Without Marleau and Johnny T Hyman - Matthews -Marner Johnsson - Kadri - Nylander Brown - Gauthier - Kapanen Rielly - Zaitsev Gardiner - Muzzin Anderssen Sparks Cap space $6.5... 5-7 roster spots to fill With Marleau and Johnny T (Marner re-signed) Marleau - Matthews - Marner Hyman - Tavares - Nylander Brown - Kadri - Gauthier Rielly - Zaitsev Muzzin Anderssen Sparks Cap space: $2 mill... 6-8 roster spots to fill both look like ok teams, but one's a lot more financially healthy.

Jokes aside, I'm excited for this project player more than any others of recent past (Sulak, Machovsky, Rybar) he's basically a forward who plays D. Not gonna stop too many goals, but his bombs are heavy and his dangles are greasy. Likes to carry the puck out of his own zone too.

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

We have roughly $63 million spent against the cap right now, leaving us with $20 million to spend, and almost no one to re-sign. This is assuming Kronwall retires, Vanek parts ways, and Zadina, Hirose, and Hronek are added to the roster full-time. Boys, we basically have $20 mill in free cap we can do whatever we want with. We can blow it on Karlsson and Panarin. Make crazy trades to bring in Trouba/Point/Marner. Whatever. But we have absolute no need to buy anyone out right now and extend the length of the annoying minor cap hit.

Imagine having 40% of your cap tied up in 3 forwards lol Reports a few months back were that Johnsson turned down offers for 2 and 2.5 AAV as well. He and Kapanen will both like likely want something in at least the 3-4 range. Plus Gardiner will be aiming around 4-5. So they basically have $8.8 to sign an $11 mil forward, a $5 mil Dman, and two $4 mil forwards. Azmazing that the "brain trust" f***ed things up this quickly lmao. Fun part is there should be some interesting deals this offseason.

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

You can speculate all day that Johnny Toes is gonna waive his NMC and demand a trade to the Red Wings this off season because he grew up an Yzerman fan and wants to play for his hero. That's anyone's right. And it's my right to call that speculation dumb. I'm not arguing for a theory that he'll stay in Winnipeg. I'm arguing that there's absolutely nothing to suggest Johnny Toes wants to come to Detroit, and likewise nothing to suggest Jacob Trouba wants to come to Detroit. I guess I am alone in thinking this, because despite no real indicators, many others appear to be not only convinced he's getting moved, he's also moving to Detroit, and for cut-rate cost. Book it. I don't find anything you're saying here unreasonable. I didn't find anything unreasonable about your previous post in this thread either, which is probably why I neglected to respond to it. Thank you. I recognized previous negotiation troubles and the fact that he hasn't committed long-term in my last post about Trouba in response to KR. This is really the sole reason one should speculate about Trouba leaving. Is it because he hates playing there and wants gone, or was he just a young player with serious disagreements about his value, like Athanasiou or Nylander etc... This season he finally truly flourished becoming a top 5 point getter on the team, equaling Laine in points, and playing good D the entire way. If I'm Chevy my first priority is keeping Laine, Connor, and Trouba on the team... the rest can get f***ed for all I care. I disagree with you a bit about how tight their cap is. If they can get Trouba in at 7, Connor and Laine in at 6, that leaves them with 6 million remaining with 9 roster forwards and 6 roster Dmen. Adding ELC players, cheap fighters/projects, should keep them under the cap, albeit tight. At the end of the day I don't think Trouba leaving is that wild of an idea. But being convinced he's coming to Detroit and for cheap just because Winnipeg has a tight cap is wild to me. Will be thrilled if Yzerman can pull it off though.

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

I think we discussed trading Datsyuk for Joe Thornton at one point too. We should revisit that thread now that Datsyuk is out of the league at 37 and Thornton is considering come back again at 40. At least with Edler it started because it was confirmed Holland wanted to draft him I don't even remember why or how Bogo mania started

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

There isn't definitely anything. Just because fans haven't shut the f*** up about trading for Trouba for the past 3 years doesn't lend credence to anything. If Friedman or Dreger or Mackenzie or someone pop on the twitter tomorrow and say "hearing negotiations between Trouba's camp and Winnipeg's have completely broken down" or "Hearing Trouba has expressed through his agent a desire to play closer to home" THAT is smoke. This fanbase and LGW obsessing about obtaining a particular player is not anything new. Before Trouba it was Bogosian. Before Bogosian it was Edler. With the later two It all turned out to be just baseless fan speculation compounded by years of snowballing confirmation bias. No, I think the rumors could be true. I also think there could be aliens in area 51 and the US government could have killed JFK, but until there's actual evidence I'm not even remotely convinced. The simple answer is: Because Detroit has needed a stud Dman for a long time. Trouba is from Detroit. Trouba has requested a trade in the past. Trouba hasn't committed to Winnipeg long-term. Boom, he's the perfect player to speculate about. The long answer is: The above + a long-winded nerdy explanation about psychology, group-think, and the bandwagon effect. I think you have developed some very rigid and specific thoughts based on very little evidence. If we trade for Trouba on the cheap, I will be thrilled. But I'm not convinced we're getting Callahan or Trouba yet. And there's exactly the same amount of evidence that we're getting either. NHLTradeRumors isn't a credible source. Next.

You've provided absolutely zero evidence or argument behind your line of thinking Literally just saying: he's not gonna cost much trust me And when no one takes you seriously you resort to straw manning others Come back when you have something Thanks, yes year old quote my mistake. Rumor/speculation is not evidence or data Quite literally true. It's all just fan rumors. Nothing reliable. Everyone in the hockey world? Do you mean fans? Because there isn't one quote from a reliable source that Trouba will be traded or that that trade will take him to Detroit. None. lol This isn't a reliable source whatsoever. They mention the Athletic, but the Athletic has not published anything saying this, and they don't link to the Athletic, they link to NHLTradeRumors which is total BS and has no source at all. Fake news at its finest

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

Rumors stimulate discussion, but we can't operate on them as if they were true, because they may be entirely false. Even my own. I certainly agree with you here. Chevy may have wanted to keep the deal short so he could still be traded for value. If Trouba signs another 1 year, or is traded and signs a 1 year, he's as good as ours I would think based on the rumors. No, but he expressly says he's much happier than he was in 2016, with the state of the team and his place on it. Sounds like he believes he's on a team that's ready to compete for a cup and he's excited about that. He even said something along the lines of "my work isn't done here yet in Winnipeg" or something like that. If anyone has access to Athletic and can post the exact quote please and thanks. ? Players who want off there current team get max value all the time. I would especially think so of an RFA. If you're retort is he only wants to play in Detroit and that's why the package will be low, my answer is rumors don't mean jack. And there hasn't even been any legit rumors linking him to Detroit. Zero. Just fan speculation. I don't think you're trade is too far off. I just don't think a 34 year old Mike Green is gonna be anything they want other than a throw in who can play for them short term. Green + Rasmussen + 1st + Lindstrom I think is more realistic. Like I said to KR, based on his current interviews he goes out of his way to point out he's much happier in Winnipeg than he was in 2016. There really isn't any current rumor that he still wants out. Just media and fan BS. Again I'm not convinced that Trouba wants out, but lets pretend he does. In that case Trouba and Winnipeg are in a weird situation. Rarely do big name studs with RFA rights get traded. I still maintain baseline is clearly 1st, 2nd, 3rd round pick. That's what they're guaranteed to get on the offer sheet market. If you can offer them something more attractive to their situation than that, I'm sure they'd bite. But all in all, I'm betting he'll re-sign with Winnipeg. Yeah yeah and Owen Tippett will run away with the 2017/18 season and 2018/19 season. Here's what I'm talking about. You're clearly operating as if the rumors are true. Rumors are not anything to lean on. And the rumors don't even take him to Detroit, they're just that he wants out of Winnipeg. If that's the case any team should trade for him, but I don't even buy that rumor to be true. Yall are living in fantasy rumor land I swear. Get ready for the let down.

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

That is pure speculation. All we know about Trouba's situation in Winnipeg is that they disagreed on his worth at the beginning of the 2016/17 season and he held out until he felt he was paid fairly. After that contract completed he became an RFA for 22 days and then re-signed with Winnipeg again on a 1 year deal. None of that suggests he wants out of Winnipeg, only that he wants to be paid according to his own perceived value. In fact, if he was hell bent on leaving Winnipeg, he would've negotiated a 2 year deal last season and left the team as a UFA. But he didn't. Trouba's recent interview in the Athletic also painted the picture of a guy pretty happy to be playing in Winnipeg (paywall). RFA control has significant value. Any team that trades for Trouba is basically guaranteed a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd if he decides to run off and sign elsewhere. And, if Trouba ends up signing for more than $8.2 that team would receive two 1sts, a 2nd, and a 3rd. And it's entirely possible he will sign for that much. He's a player who's proven he will hold out for the money he feels he's owed, and for comparison, Esa Lindell - a 30 pt Dman of the same age as Trouba - just signed for $5.8 AAV. With that in mind, anyone wanting Trouba basically needs to offer the value of a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, plus more. Here's a trade suggestion from Rangers fans: To NYR: Jacob Trouba To Winnipeg: Lias Andersson (first round pick), Brett Howden (first round pick), 1st round pick, 5th round pick Here's another one I just found from Wings fans at WIIM: To DET: Jacob Trouba To Winnipeg: Joe Veleno, Jared McIssac, + picks Here's another from Jet's fans: To whomever: Jacob Trouba To Winnipeg: Great prospect, so-so prospect, 1st round pick, pick after the 1st round I don't think two high-end prospects and a 2nd is at all unreasonable for Trouba. For someone who really wants Trouba I think you're being incredibly naive when it comes to his value. I mean no insult by that. I agree that it's not the right time for a Trouba trade reagrdless. Especially if he has the secret desire to come home.

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

To add fuel to the fire, Trouba is represented by the same agent group that represents Dylan Larkin, Filip Larsson, David Pope, Ian Cole (Ann Arbor, Michigan), TJ Hensick (Howell, Michigan), Chris Conner (Westland, Michigan and former Red Wing/Griffin), Jack Campbell (Port Huron, Michigan), Ben Street (former Red Wing/Griffin), Ryan Kesler (Livonia, Michigan), and Andrew Copp (Ann Arbor, Michigan). So Yzerman definitely has contact with Trouba's agents, KO Sports. They especially seem to represent a large amount of guys coming out of Michigan. Adam Foote is also an agent for KO Sports. Yzerman drafted his son. Foote + Callahan to Detroit confirmed. You indirectly compared them quite clearly Do you want to say now that Hronek + Veleno + 2nd is a lot more realistic than Kuffner + Puempel + 2nd? Cause: I think they'd definitely get something close to that deal. Probably not both Veleno and Hronek, but maybe Cholowski and Veleno, or Cholowski and AA. Point being they're going to get significant return.

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

    1. Low end F prospect + Low end F prospect + 2nd = not realistic 2. High end D prospect + High end F prospect + 2nd = realistic Hronek = high end D prospect Veleno = high end F prospect We both agree that we shouldn't give away both Veleno and Hronek, but this is exactly the type of trade the Jets will be looking for. Calling both 1 and 2 foolish implies similarity. 2 is A LOT closer to reality than 1. We don't know his motivations. Does he want to sign in Detroit and come home? Does he just want out of Winnipeg? If the former is true I'm not worried at all. If the later is true I'd expect he'll extend with whomever gives him a good deal.
  21. ChristopherReevesLegs

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?

Jesus man The return the Jets fans are throwing around is: Big D prospect + Big F prospect + 2nd round pick The Jets will certainly inquire about Hronek. They're going to want a young Dman included in the trade to replace Trouba now or in the near future. That likley means one of Hronek, Cholowski, or McIssac. If you would say no on Hronek, great, hallelujah, then include Cholowski or McIssac instead. That's where you're splitting hairs; on Hronek. If you personally think Hronek is untouchable, again, fine, cool, grand, I don't care, include Cholowski/McIssac instead. Jets will ask about Hronek, Jets will not ask about Kuffner or Puempel. One is a lot more retarded than the other.
