His foot work/edge work is superb, the speed just isn't there. Panic passes is basically what I meant. He needs to stop that. I didn't think any of this before the draft I'll admit I'm being hyper-critical, but I do enjoy the discussion that stimulates -

Shoulda drafted Lundestrom. We have a great track record with Swedes. Poor track record with Czechs. -

I'm just laying the groundwork for my "told ya so" later I'll start with this: Yes, he was the best rookie in the league in every category, and justly he was ranked #1 or #2 for much of the year. So when he fell to us at #6 there was much rejoicing. This led to the summer hype of him making the team out the gate or at least dominating the AHL. He's not on this team and he's not dominating the AHL, so that's the premise I'm approaching this from. I 100% agree he looks young. He looks like - not like a deer in headlights - but a young player who's quickly realizing how much faster the pro game is. Defenders are closing on him quickly and he no longer has the time and space he once had to do his thang. This does not worry me. He's one of very few players to join the AHL at such a young age, is very gifted, and I'm confident he'll adapt. My concern is more about his play style. IMO his foot speed is average and his IQ in the cycle is average. This leads me to fear he ends up more like a trigger-man and essentially more one-dimensional than originally anticipated. Perhaps more engaged than the perimeter player that Hudler was, but the same role. Anyway, if you've been watching him as well let me know what you think. He's going to be an NHLer despite my criticisms, and I still hope he's the next Kucherov... just bracing for him maybe not being that... -

This year I'm not traveling home for Thanksgiving and celebrating with a group of friends instead. Can't wait to pull my "grab a wad of pumpkin pie filing, reach into the back of my pants, pull it out, pretend like it's poop, and then eat it" prank on a new group of unsuspecting victims. I live for this -
Ok the vast majority of what I wrote was about how he plays. Do you have anything to say about that, or are you just gonna try blow up a minor point in my post? Zadina was at one point ranked #1 overall. No one expected him to be available at 6 at the draft, not even the Wings. The hype all summer was he could possibly make the team straight out the gate, or at least light up the AHL. He didn't make the team and he's not lighting up the AHL, so that's the "disappointment" premise I'm operating under. I think we can all acknowledge that and be big boys and girls about it and move forward. Have you watched him play? Let me know what you think of his play. I was pretty generous in my assessment of him. Didn't call him a bust, said he bottoms out at Hudler level. I used Hudler because I think they have slightly similar qualities as wingers and I think his floor is around a 50 to 60 pt player... Do you disagree?

Yeah I looked up the horse business and went and got myself a white Arabian. Im still fairly early in the game, but starting to get bored with it. I'm not a console guy. I basically have a battle station setup with my pc with multiple screens and luxuries. I hate that I have to play it on the coach when I cant watch a movie and s*** post at the same time. So I'm biased. If this game was for PC I would have already beaten it.

Because I'm chaotic neutral. Learn your role. -
YOU SHUT UR ***** MOUTH Linguine is the perfect long noodle. Not too thick like Fettuccine, not too thin like Angel Hair, just right.

I'm kinda with you to be perfectly honest. Kid rode a hot streak into the draft. His peers in the top 5 of his draft class are massively outperforming him besides Barret Hayton (lmao) Zadina's foot speed is not great. His decision making in the cycle is questionable. And his defense is nothing to be admired. However his ability to beat defenders with his stick skills and beat goalies with his shot are very good. He needs to adapt and learn to do those things at a new speed. The pro speed. Improving his foot work and adding weight would be huge for him. And he's only 18 or whatever so he should be able to accomplish this. My primary concern is the decision making. His ability/instincts to beat you one on one are superb, but his ability to see the ice and anticipate creative plays leaves me wanting. And this is a team sport. He needs to improve that, which i think is harder to improve than the aforementioned skills. Maybe when he learns our systems better this will improve (I hope). My biggest fear is that he is a trigger-man only (one-dimensional) and will not be able to drive play on his own. Right now, for me, he his Hudler+ If he can be a bigger stronger Hudler who does not fear the dirty areas or have off ice issues, we got a good player on our hands. I think he maxes out at Hossa and bottoms out at Hudler during his Detroit tenure. Obviously Hudler during Detroit tenure would be a slight disappointment based on his draft position, but still a valuable player. 18 is young, lets see how he goes. Cholowski also struggled after being drafted.

As long as you bend knee and acknowledge the superiority of Linguine, you will be free to enjoy any inferior pasta shape your heart desires

If Toronto gets Parayko well then I will just be maddest boy in boy town

Jesus Christ the coaching changes this year are nuts. Meanwhile, and not surprisingly, the Red Wings are extremely patient and do nothing.
-
I don't care for the lottery. I think last team should get first pick. Teams gonna tank no matter what you do.
-
No, the draft is chaotic neutral

It's amazing how even a small winning streak changes the perception of a coach. Jeff is a good guy. That being said you know I vote Howard all day

Not sure if you will have the ability to ban me once I go full mod. But assuming Lefty is in good health and still likes posting here, you will prolly also be full mod by the time he decides to quit and then you can ban me.

Mike Yeo is probably the worst coach in the league thou. Surprised the Blues hired him in the first place. But I guess that's the Blues. Always find a way to shoot themselves in the foot.
