I can't say I'm not a little disappointed by this. You've been my closest friend on this website for years. We have each other's phone numbers, and we've met in person. Not sure what I did that makes you want to trash all of that, but whatever it is, you have my sincere apologies. If you're just being a dick just to be a dick, I hope you get thru what's ever causing you to act that way. Just a shame several years of friendship will end this way. Peace. -

Quinn Hughes will return to the University of Michigan. So glad we have Zadina. Anyone think Hughes would have played if the Red Wings drafted him? I doubt I'm the only one who thought he may have been NHL ready...

Yeah probably a finesse guy. I see three end results for this kid: 1. Datsyuk (light) - Proficient in both ends. Mad dangles. Speedier than Dats + slick steals. Top 6 player. 2. Ales Hemsky (light) - Average in both ends. Mad dangles. Awesome Speed. Middle 6 player. (AA is speedier, Hemsky better instincts) 3. Paul Bryron - Below average in both ends. Mad dangles. Awesome speed. 3rd line player. I think he was a young #3 last season with a lot more potential. I'd like him to step up and be a #2. And I recognize that comparing him to Hemsky and Dastyuk is a little ambitious numbers wise, but I think they share relatively the same skill set as players. Ironically, Franzen didn't make my list of comparable players... -
Which Goalie Will Have The Better Season?
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
Ah the old hopeful A-hole defense. To be fair, I hope the best for Mrazek as well. There's a very real chance he hits a hot streak again, and if Scott Darling plays anything like he did last year, Mrazek could easily move into the #1 position. Carolina is actually probably a real good opportunity for him. Weak competition for the net, and a very good defense in front. Hope he makes the most of it, it's probably his last chance to stay in the NHL. As much as I love Howie, we really need Bernier to play well and be a good transition goalie for the next few years. Howard turns 35 this year and will start aging out most likely. Plus he looked fat this summer lol -
Big if true.

Capitals re-sign Tom Wilson to 6 year contract worth $5.17 million annually Surprised nobody is talking about this. My initial reaction was one of shock. Massive over-payment coupled with long term. Been reading a lot of counter-argument to justify the contract though, and I guess Tom Wilson's 5 v 5 scoring per 60 min is actually really good. Ahead of some big name players. And he's essentially been limited to only defensive roles by the caps so far (which he's also really good at) until this years playoffs. Sounds like the intention of the caps going forward is that their top line will be: Ovechkin - Kuznetsov - Wilson Still, my gut instinct is that they will regret this contract eventually... and I like Tom Wilson as a player. We will see. -

I'm pretty sure Hyman plays the exact same role in Toronto that Burrows played during his time in Vancouver, minus some of the ol Burrows agitation. Burrows job was to go get the puck and give it to the Sedin's. That simple, and the twins explicitly said it in interviews. Hyman has been used the exact same way in Toronto: Go get puck, give to Matthews. Hyman is good at that job if that's what we want him to do, but I think were better off putting more skilled players like Mantha, AA, Zadina, Vanek, and Rassmussen around our centerpiece; Larkin. Hyman is a bottom 6 grinder on most teams, and I think even Zach Hyman knows that, hence him being completely ok joining the Leafs bottom 6. Babs playing Hyman in the top 6 is no different than when he used to play Abby or Glendening in the top 6. -
German League Reinstituting Relegation
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
Thanks for the long detailed explanation. A lot to digest. Sounds like hockey wouldn't be even remotely like it is now under this system. Have never been to a Detroit City FC game, but I got to Seattle Sounders game here in Seattle quite a bit actually. I'm not a huge fan or anything, but there's quite a strong soccer culture growing in the Pacific-Northwest. Seattle and Portland both have a pretty hardcore passionate fanbases and the games are decently cheap to go to. So I've been attending and have been pleasantly surprised by the soccer experience so far. Thanks as well for the detailed explanation. I like the idea of relegation, but the rest of the stuff that comes with I don't care for, now that it's been explained. I'm definitely not trying to make hockey like soccer. If anything I'd like the NHL to be more violent. I absolutely loath the diving culture that's taken over soccer, which is probably why I'll never be a real fan. I just think the idea of relegation is an interesting one, probably because we don't have it in NA for the most part... -

Agreed especially with what's highlighted. His forechecking and willingness to battle in the corners/halfwall/etc has to be a lot better, especially if he's gonna play wing. His poke check is extremely underrated around here, but he too often leads with the poke check during the forecheck, fails, and then finds himself out of position. Either he has to learn to identify when to stay back and block the breakout pass up ice better, or he has to get more aggressive and play the body more. I'd be fine with either. That Helm clip is one of the few clips I watch every-time it's posted. Magnificent. -
