Gun will do a lot worse than disrespect ya fella Classic strawman. I honorably retract my statement and issue a formal apology to Larkin, Pavel Datyuk, and anyone afflicted by my boorish words I mean you can find these type of 'hopeful future' lineups as far back as 2011. Yet here we are almost 10 years later, worse off than ever. Take the black-pill. Come back to reality. This team is f***ed for a severely long amount of time. I wish I could have told you that in 2011. But I didn't realize yet. Ur all laughing at my doom n gloom now, but I'll be the one laughing in looks like 2-3 years according to you.
-
I was replying to Marc not you. You and I were talking guns, why they're so cool, and why everyone should own 10-5 of them.
-
Why are we disrespecting guns now? Dooood Brendan Smith is shaping up to look like the next Pietrangelo Jakub Kindl could be our Parayko Cory Emmerton could be a Tyler Bozak type McCollum could be our Binnington Nic Jensen is a pretty steady defender, a lot like Jay Bouwmeester at the same age Tomas Jurco is filthy with the puck, could be our Tarasenko or at least come close Riley Sheahan is built like Brayden Schenn, just sayin... Sproul and Ouellet? Like two more Vince Dunn's right there Have you seen Frk and Pulkinen's shots? Tarasenko light I'm thinking And with the high draft picks we have coming our way the Red Wings might actually be BETTER than the championship Blues... thank about that one.

When Bertuzzi/Fabbri/Mantha are bad wingers, because I need excuses for Larkin

Business idea: Better wingers so Larkin looks like a 1C

My one regret right now is not owning a Katana desu -
5 pts in 26 games. Heavy lifting Zadina isn't on the team now? Your response to having the worst team in Red Wings history is we're probably the next St Louis Blues (current champions). But yeah I'm delusional and cringe-worthy lol

@F.Michael is a very funny man. But I bet I kill @Neomaxizoomdweebie in a one on one duel. He doesn't have the will to fight like a man. -
Your grand idea is to invoke Alexander Steen? Lol s*** if we have all these great building blocks already, why aren't we winning? Ya'll are beyond delusional. Larkin is ROR, Zadina is Tarasenko, lol it's laughable, it's cringe-worthy. You're the fan of sucky team, get used to it.These players suck ass. Quit lying to yourself and the fans. 100% big dog I'm with you. Ready to move to the Veleno's and Rasmussens of the world. These retards think Larkin is the next Pavel Datsyuk. Talk about low standards. It's disgusting. The purge is coming despite their moaning and whining

lol wut? How many dogs do u have? You think 5-10 dogs are gonna stop a man with fully automatic rifle? I whole-heartedly promise you your "pack of dogs" will not even exist. More mouths to feed + not that effective combat wise + can be eaten themselves. That said I would make mince meat of your pack of Labradors. I'm 2-3 times their weight, outfitted in protective gear, and packing melee and projectile weapons. Not to mention what ever other marauders are in my band. I'm not even considering adding dogs to my war band and you (the guy who doesn't believe in firearms) thinks they will save him. My best advice is good luck. -
In the future your assets will be worth less, that's the time to sell them. You're not this stupid. Literally how you build a dynasty these days is by acquiring top tier building blocks. How do you most reliably get those? The draft. How do you get more draft picks? Trade away your players. Your essential players you love so much like Larkin literally just shat on your chest this season and u guys want to double down. Lmao. It's pathetic. Loser lose. Winners win. Keep building around your half-assed players, THATS what Buffalo and Edmonton did.
-
This team has many years of rebuilding to do. I love the hopefulness, but it's neither realistic or useful. In 4-5 years we can have a 30+ Mantha on the roster, or a 20-24 year old impact player coming online. Guess which I prefer. 2 or 3 more good drafts? U do realize Yzerman has been absolutely awful at drafting high-end talent? Brett Connolly, Slater Koekkoek, Johnathan Drouin. All his top 10 picks are garbage unless you consider Seider, who hasn't played an NHL game yet. I'm trying to build a dynasty, not some lol fun times we made the playoffs which is cool i guess team

Anybody else still watch Gus and Tatar and feel sad? They both play such a Red Wings style it's hard not to miss them -
I put myself in that lockerroom and think who I'd be looking to, and it'd be Bertuzzi. All swagger, all moxy, no stick slamming. Absolutely fearless leader great attitude guy. The only players on the roster I have any affinity towards at this point are Bertuzzi, Seider, Ehn, Glendening and Hronek. Everyone else is trade-able to me. What do all those players have in common? They all work their balls off every night and play their given roles extremely well. I think those are foundations you can build around.
-
"They're the 3 best players on the team" I hear "The only 3 players with value" Mantha is gonna be walking out on this team for nothing in UFA in 4 years when the team is still rebuilding, and we'll be up s***s creek. It's an all too clear possibility given how much work needs to be done and how much ammo Yzerman currently has... I'm the one doing Yzerman the favor here. I'm saying f*** Holland's players and core, trade em' and build your own. Hi my name's Tyler Bertuzzi (25), Anthony Mantha (26), and Dylan Larkin (24). I'm entering the prime of my career on the newly crowned worst team in the league. Do you know how I'd like to spend my prime production and earning potential years? Wallowing in the mud with the rebuilding Detroit Red Wings. I just love wasting my talent and leaving dollars on the table to play with a bad team in a bad city. These players want to be on winning teams, I want draft picks and prospects. It's almost like there's a clear solution to that condrum there... somewhere... can't put my finger on it.

Dogs are a suppressive tactic. If you don't have a gun to finish subduing me with I'm just gonna shoot your dog or beat it to death. Then ur fukt. Doggies are extremely overrated. They only work when there's a handler nearby with a gun drawn. Otherwise ur pitbull is getting my boot to his chin, his nuts ripped off, and his eyes gauged out. Maybe he punctures my leg or arm, but that only serves to piss me off worse and now i'll kill ya slow like. TDLR: Buy a gun. -
Because the pieces garnered from trading 60 pt centers are more valuable to last place teams than 60 pt centers are. By the time we have a new Yzerman, Seider is full Konstantinov, we have a competent goalie in place, and the depth is strong enough for us to make a cup push, Larkin will be traded/moved-on/or-dead. I'm amazed daily by how many ppl "like" this core. Everynight they are trash. I used to think Wings fans understood what excellence was... now i"m not so confident. Bert should get the C. Plays harder than 100% of this roster. But I'd like to wait for Seider. He's gonna be Lidstrom/Pronger leadership tier. I think it'll be worth the wait.

Day 209, @Neomaxizoomdweebie has been surviving the last month mostly on feral cats. Some other survivors and himself learned to catch them once the supplies ran out. Tonight though they only have rat meat and a small supply of looted toothpaste to eat. Still there is hope. Rumors of milk and honey in the West. Some survivors have already packed up their few supplies and headed that way hoping to share in the abundance of modern foods still available. The rumors speak of a great man with a seemingly infinite supply of white chocolate and macadamia nut cookies. Just the word cookie is enough to make Neo's mouth water and his stomach to turn with hunger pains... -

Day 60, I have bought out every grocery store in my area of Pepperidge Farm Tahoe Cookies. After the collapse I'm gonna be the Tahoe Cookie guy. -
Keep your foot hard on the peddle, son never mind those beavers, smoke all the meth cause we got a run to deliver. The girls are horny in Canadiana, and there's dildos in Louisiana, and we'll bring em back not matter what it takessssssssss. North bound and downnnnnnnnn, loaded up and truckin', we gonna do what they say can't be done. Only time I ever ran into a beaver, I was fishing at about 2 AM standing in a river in Northern Michigan. Pitch black, middle of nowhere, only the sound of the water, i was literally just casting to the sound of fish rising and hoping for the best. All of the sudden out of nowhere i hear an extremely loud SMACK about 20-30 ft from me. Nearly pooped in my waders lol. Kinda just froze and waited motionless for a while. When you're in the middle of the woods alone in the dead of night not expecting to hear anything but trickling water and crickets that sound felt like a sonic boom going off and I was freaked the f*** out. About 2 or 3 minutes later it happened again. Finally grew some balls and turned on my headlamp. Sure enough some ass hole beaver was sitting on a rock on the shore slappin his tail on a rock to spook me away. Was super relieved lol, but f*** beavers, territorial dicks.

Report: Detroit to name Steve Yzerman as GM
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to BringBack19's topic in General
Thank god. Finally some stimulating discussion. This place has been a ghost town besides the Koreans. You're taking my Duchene comparison much too literally. The years drafted and the package coming back is beside my point. I'm merely using him as an example of a core player shipped out in his prime. And Mackinnon as the superior building block replacing him. It helps that they're all centers as well I guess and that the Avs were in doldrums like us. IMO Larkin is more at the Duchene level talent-wise than he is the Mackinnon level. At the end of the day I wanna build a championship team, so I want a Mackinnon level building block at 1C. Building a team around Larkin is the same as building one around Duchene IMO. It won't be an awful team, but It's not gonna get us to the parade. Therefore I see hanging on to the current core as simply stalling for time. Which is okay to do (we can't trade everyone in one season) but at the end of the day it's just prolonging an eventuality, and in fact we may get better returns trading players at 24 (with RFA control) instead of 27. Now I'm under no illusion that we couldn't draft say Byfield, Rossi, or Stutzle this year and they develop into the Mackinnon level center that I yearn for, or even maybe Veleno or Rasmussen could be the 1C on top of Larkin. Could happen, and we keep both players. I just doubt it. The issue I'm trying to push is purely temporal. If you recognize that Mantha is never gonna be an elite 1RW, and Larkin never an elite 1C, I prefer not waiting and starting the overhaul now early in these doldrums. Having these good, but not great, players sticking around merely to serve as placeholders in losing seasons does not entice me at all. I'd prefer to cash in those chips for more dice rolls in the draft and prospects sooner than later. In my mind it will make these doldrums worse for the time being, but the rebuild much faster. Like literally pulling off a band-aid. The funniest part in this line of thinking to me is that I'm essentially arguing for canceling the core Holland built, and bringing in an Yzerman core. And yet in the next few paragraphs I'm about to defend Holland and criticize Yzerman! Look around you. We're already there. We have absolutely zero room for hubris. Problem child talk is all rumor that no one can substantiate apart from one quote citing an anonymous source that came after the trade. I will not argue that he wasn't a peripheral player this year. He was played that way by his coach, and his stat sheet also reflected it. However 2018/19 was a VERY different season for him. Just like it was also a very different season for Larkin as well. Both players had down disappointing years this year, yet the fanbase is eager to come up with any excuse for one and completely abandon the other. Seems a bit unfair and hypocritical to me. That all said, my main gripe is that Yzerman chose to trade him this year and not next. And I concede that I think the same for Larkin. If you're going for value Fabbri, Bertuzzi, and Mantha were the ones trending upwards this year that we could have sold high on. Meh I see Ken Holland's final years as the product of an owner trying to keep a streak alive and a team limping. As soon as ownership accepted that it was finally time to rebuild he was doing a great job again. So far I am far from impressed with Yzerman. I like the Fabbri acquisition and the Seider pick and the rest is downright bad or easily forgettable in my book. I think his hiring has accomplished one major goal for ownership, assuaging a rightly upset fanbase. Yzerman is the golden boy who makes us remember how it feels to be warm and fuzzy inside, buying the team some time with fans. For me, I'll pat his back when he makes good moves for the franchise and slap his PP when he doesn't, same as I would treat anyone. No I think we see eye to eye here. Yzerman also just inherited multiple 1st round players by coming here, trading for ones in guys like Fabbri and Perlini, and he'll get more through the draft like he also did in Tampa. My point was simply that 1st round picks are the bees knees and we need as many as we can get, and 3rds are nice too but less of value. Every team has 3rd round picks that squeak through and become successful. Holland has recently Athanasiou, Mrazek, Janmark, Ehn, Nyquist, etc. Yzerman deserves praise for finding good players in the 3rd, but so then do a lot of GMs... like Holland as well. Dang i should have read your last paragraph first. Obviously I'm being very reactionary. But i would say I (rightly so) have different expectations and tolerances for playoff teams, bubble teams, and basement teams. I see this season as a breaking point. It's not a team I want to build around anymore. I'd instead like to keep digging down until we pop out on the other side with the next Yzerman or Lidstrom. Larkin's and Mantha's will become distant memories quickly if we can do that. And I'd like to do that as fast as possible. IDK how many humiliating season I can take b4 I stop watching. With the Pistons it was very few for me. I do think Yzerman has vision. Men with vision go a long way in any business. -

I think Larkin is a lot closer to our Duchene than to our MacKinnon, if you catch my drift I look at Ottawa's situation as we approach the draft, and I hate to envy them, but I do, at least in regards to the draft. Three 1sts, four 2nds, two 3rds. They have the highest% chance at #1 overall. That's what a last place tank year should look like... and they're not even last place Call me a doomer, but I don't think this team needs more fine-tuning, it needs complete overhaul. 30 in '19 Holland was poised for redemption and a return to glory until Covid-19 (19? Odd number. Yzerman wouldn't have anything to do with this mysterious virus that is screwing Edmonton and Holland's playoffs right now would he?) Except that Yzerman's previous team was literally build around high picks. Stamkos - 1st overall Hedman - 2nd overall Kucherov - 2nd round Coburn - 8th overall Vasilevski - 19th overall McDonagh - 12th overall Sergachev - 9th overall Cernak - 2nd round Seider + Zadina isn't enough, especially when you consider my POV that I don't like Zagina much. -

I'm saying traditionally in a last place season you dismantle and sell off the core that failed you. Yzerman didn't do that. He sold low on a peripheral forward, and sold a broken down old Dman that should've been sold multiple seasons ago. Hardly a dismantle, and it's looking like we are going into next season with much of the same team, plus zero extra 1st round picks. -

Not saying you have to trade all three or completely gut the team. I would've heavily shopped Larkin. If there isn't a fantastic return for him out there that's okay, hold on to him. Like you were saying I would hear a pitch for any player really, especially any player on this sinking ship. It would be extremely painful...
