Wrong about what? Or do you not have a counter argument?

I don't agree. I think it's a pretty honest 1 for 1. In regards to Bergevin, that man certainly has the balls to make moves (and he just cleared himself space to make more moves). I respect that. And I know a lot of people around here would appreciate that type of GM over Holland's patience approach. But personally, yeah I prefer Holland. Galchenyuk, $4.9 per, 2 years left, UFA after contract, 50 point player, effective center? Domi, $3.15, 2 years left, RFA after contract, 50 point player, winger Domi gives Montreal almost $2 million in savings a year for 2 years, AND they get more savings when the contract is up because he'll still be RFA. Chucky on the other hand will probably be looking to negotiate for at least $5 million plus to $6 million plus at the end of his. Contract wise, this looks pretty savy to me on Bergevins part. Both players are similar points wise, with the advantage to Chucky on goals. So I give the edge to Chucky on talent, but only slightly. The argument that seems to be coming from MTL fans is WE NEED CENTERS WHY WOULD YOU SWAP A CENTER FOR A WINGER?? And to that I would say, because Galchenyuk is not a center, at least in Montreal he's not. For whatever reason (I don't know enough about Galchenyuk to say) Julien, just like Therrien, refuses to play Chucky at C, and management seems to agree with this usage. So he was never going to be a C in Montreal whether fans like that or not, and I'm sure the Habs have a good reason as to why, I just don't know myself. We'll see how he does at C in Arizona, but this is effectively a winger for a winger trade on paper. Personality wise, Domi is pretty highly praised. The Penguins apparently had a sizeable offer in place for Domi and were disappointed when they got snubbed by Arizona, citing Domi's enthusiasm as a person as one of the reasons he's highly regarded. Chucky seems to be a different animal entirely. The stuff I'm reading about his relationship with his father is a little troubling. Apparently his father is uber controlling and overly involved in his career. Berating him on his performance after games, and even berating him via text between periods on a consistent basis. I can see how Montreal might see a toxic problem there. I really think the Bergevin is an idiot narrative might backfire on this one. -

I believe Montreal, even after this two-year Domi deal, still has Domi under RFA rights for another 2 years after the deal is over. Chucky would have become UFA much sooner. Arizona gained talent, Montreal gained cost control. -
Because he wasn't hands down better than anything we already had. And as a 21 year old 5'8" Dman it was probably better for his development to play another year getting bigger minutes in the AHL. As I've already stated, this kid is getting pushed on to the roster way faster than more qualified Dman we had in the past. I love how everyone conveniently ignores that. That's not because he's overly talented, it's because the Red Wings find themselves without talent. You guys admit he'll never be anything for more than a 5/6 Dman, yet you're upset that he didn't play over our other 5/6 Dmen last year. Think about that for for more than 2 seconds.

Domi is RFA for longer than Chucky, maybe Habs wanted that control? -

Give it time. They're both useless besides their shot, and Frk will join Pulks outside of the NHL soon enough. -

Because he sucks, and I told ya so. And I've waited almost an entire year (1 day off) to tell you again... HA, I win. -
Yeah, this coming year, not the just ended season... Look, we see 5 decent exhibition games of a player and the reaction is: WHY ISNT HE A RED WING WHY ISNT HE A RED WHY ISNT HE A RED WING Yall act like he Dylan Larkin'ed the doors off the place. He didn't! And yet here's how his career is now playing out: 1. First pro season (AHL) 2. Second pro season (AHL/number one call up) 3. Third pro season (NHL) He's in all likely hood going to play a full season with the big club this coming year. That's faster than Brendan Smith, a 1st rounder who's not 5'8" with better numbers, made it to full season status. Kindl did three full seasons in the minors before getting a real look at the NHL level. Jensen did 3 full seasons in the minors before his first call up. The list continues that way. The kid is ALREADY being accelerated much faster than normal through the system. He's ALREADY reaping the rewards of a weakened rebuilding roster. But to no surprise, that satiates no one. He just has to be pushed on to the roster as fast as humanly possible. He wasn't ready, and I thought how his season outside of the NHL went would pay some credence to that fact, but I see it had no effect... We also have to remember, this is a 5'8" player who went undrafted. He's already skyrocketed through the system, doesn't he deserve to be sheltered even a little? He's probably not gonna blow the doors off this team at any point in his career. Thrusting him on to the roster right away I think runs the real chance of ruining this type of prospect.

Russo had a much more impressive AHL season in 16/17. I'm curious, was he snubbed too?

So you accidentally spent the last few pages suggesting that Hicketts was wrongfully kept off this past years roster?

I wholly disagree. You can very much evaluate talent at the AHL level, ECHL level, junior level, international level, and so on and so forth. That's what scouts do. The NHL is just the final test. Hicketts played well during the very few NHL games he's had, no one's denying him that. But during the many more games in the lesser talented AHL, he wasn't able to produce the same way. Khan wrote a few months back that the Red Wings want to see this year if he can perform and keep up during an entire 82 game NHL season. I share the same view as the team. Right now he's shown he can step in and provide real energy... but can he do that for 82 games? His AHL season says no, but this year will be his opportunity to prove that wrong.
