Red Wings sign D Trevor Daley to 3 year, 3.166m/yr contract, includes NTC/Modified NTC.

I think this all wrongly based on the assumption that Sproul is the odd man out Signing Daley =/= Sproul not playing For the first time in 25+ years this team is altering its course. I really don't think it will be the same old veteran boy gets the advantage type deal at camp this year. The core of this team, besides Zetterberg, utterly lost way its way last season. I think jobs/spots on this team will be much more available than in previous years. And I think it will be Sprouls, XOs, Jensens, Russos, and even Mcilraths job to beat out Ericsson, Kronwall, and each other for spots this fall. For all we know Sproul and Mcilrath make the team, and XO and Jensen or even Ericsson are left riding pine or waived. I think that's way more possible than people realize. -
Yea, suicide unfortunately
-
Good deal, he could've gotten max contract on the open market
-
And I see the Blues signed Klim Kostin today. Wonder if this had something to do with it.

We're saying the same thing -
Tippett aint gonna score much in against Detroit with a 6'6" nasty Rasmussen guarding him

Maltby was considered a sniper/scorer in juniors. He was a bottom 6 grinder in the NHL. Just because Sproul was an offensive D-man in other leagues doesn't mean he'll ever be one in the NHL. He might continue to try to play that style, but if he does so unsuccessfully I wouldn't considered him an NHL puckmover. -
Yakupov wont do any better on the Avs.

Sproul looked out of place to me. Jensen and XO looked more at home. -

1. Jensen 2. Ouellet 3. Sproul In that order. Jensen surprised me in a good way. I expected a little more out XO this season. Sproul was a bit underwhelming. -
Man I thought the exact opposite when I saw this leafs deal. I think it will be good for them. Nice star veteran presence for a young team too.

Yzerman is not coming here because he's not a a complete idiot. Even if this team was competitive he would be an idiot if he became our GM. Why run the risk of destroying your good name in Detroit by becoming GM? Look at Sakic in Colorado. Goes from most beloved player in their franchise to being a hated GM amongst their fanbase. Yzerman is a pipedream that will never happen.

I personally just see Daley as another stop-gap player. He's going to fill a hole while the younger half of the team transitions forward. In some respects we owe it to Zetterberg to not just stop trying completely, unless he wants to move on. -
Had a busy day today and haven't been around to comment at all till now We all knew Daley was coming, I was hoping for 2 years but 3 is a pretty fair settle. Will be interesting to see if Witowski can make the opening roster. Kid was described to me by some Tampa fans as a pretty decent fighter. After the draft and these tough guys signings, it's pretty clear Holland and Blash don't feel this team is tough enough physically to compete. Interesting new direction. This McCollum kid is intriguing as well. I don't know much about him, but the trade makes me think the Wings brass might see something in him that Calgary didn't. I see he's decently old and Calgary never really gave him a shot. Maybe he's a viable replacement after a goalie trade?
-
Did you see the 2017 draft? This team is going for size and toughness now apparently
-
He's from Holland Michigan Wonder what Ken sees in him...
-
Great, Mich kid. Good size. Right handed. Those are good things. Good deal. Nothing wrong with this. Very good.
-
He's RFA like Buppy said, but there's a report floating around there that Parayko told the Blues he's NOT playing for the love of the game anymore, aka pay me $$$$$
-
2 year deal for Daley would be heckin nice He can fill Green's spot after we ship him out at the 2018 deadline, then we can ship out Daley at the 2019 deadline if need be. Ermagurd Holland is like so smart
-
Wishful thinking. Like how Lefty tried to literally WILL Holland to select Tippett for the last 4 months.

It was, but having an official thread for it pleases me mightily This kid is gonna get a call up, I can feel it. Glad Mckee was signed too.
