Whoops! Frickty frick autocorrect gosh darn it Walkin around in his fancy suits he designed himself, dropping multi-millions on sick kids like it's nothing. He's like the black Don Cherry, except he's nice. It's different than what I'm used to, and I don't like it. -

Now he's going to win the cup and take it back to the childrens hospital in Montreal and rub it in the poor french kids faces. Disgusting. He cares more about marketing himself, than he does about playing hockey. It's a distraction, and it has no place in the very super extra serious game of entertainment sports. He needs to learn to play the game the white way. -

2017 ECF: OTTAWA SENATORS VS. PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to chaps80's topic in General
*Puts tin foil hat on* The league wanted the Penguins and Crosby to get the cup, and they pulled out the stops to do it in the second go around in 2009. Why: -Crosby is the face of the league and Canadian. The league didn't want him and the Pens to lose 2 years in a row to a team driven by European players that the average sports fan probably doesn't recognize (names like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom aren't as familiar or marketable as Crosby). The league was trying to grow the game and Crosby & Pens winning is more marketable than Detroit winning again (back-to-back) for the 5th time in 12 years. How: -Malkin starts a fight in the last minutes of game 2. He was given an instigator penalty and that, by the rules, results in a suspension for the next game. But the league doesn't suspend him. Pens win Game Three 4-2.....Malkin gets 3 assists. -Game 7, the first goal by Max Talbot is off a dump into DETs zone. However, that dump in was from about 4 ft behind the center line (FOUR FEET) and should have been an icing. It wasn't called and Talbot put the Pens up 1-0 in the 2nd. And that sir is why you are wrong. YOU LOSE YOU GET NOTHING GOOD DAY. *Removes tin foil* Or ya know... the old cliche "they blew it" -

It would have been 0 goals if he had any respect for the system. Can the Nashville Predators even hope to win a single SCF game with this clown? Obvious distraction. His teammates must hate playing with him. Thug. Show boater. Lockerroom cancer. -
Bishop signs 6 year $29.5 million deal with Dallas

Urgent care is the fast food of the medical industry. The quality of treatment sucks, but it's a quick and convenient way to score more Vicodin. -

Shattenkirk rumors are he wants to play for the Rangers, with a small chance he might choose NJD if they're willing to pay him. This is like Suter. We're not getting him.

Green is our ONLY good D-man. Holland ain't moving him.

Found this interesting. This guy is a statistician who works for the NHL and ESPN. Czech league excluded because not enough data. So here's how a few players seasons may have predictably gone had they been in the NHL this year: Datsyuk: 25 pts in 44 GP Kovalchuk: 58 pts in 60 GP M. Callahan: 20 pts in 66 GP E. Svechnikov: 22 pts in 74 GP Saarijarvi: 9 pts in 34 GP Hronek: 18 pts in 59 GP Cholowski: 5 pts in 36 GP G. Smith: 13 pts in 64 GP O. Tippet: 23 pts in 60 GP Pettersson: 23 pts in 43 GP Mind you these are the predicted numbers had each player played a similar role in the NHL, that they did on their own team in their respective league/s. So a guy like Callahan probably isn't going to score 20 pts in 60+ games in the NHL right away, because he'll likely have 4th line grinding duties. If these numbers are accurate Kovalchuk still very much appears to be a high level player.

League to NHL Translation Factors
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
Well yeah, there's a ton of factors not playing in here. It's just a place to start when considering how a player will transition to the NHL. For example, I'm pretty sure Kovalchuk was playing like a ridiculous 23 minutes a night in Russia or something like that. In the NHL he's only going to see 18 minutes a night. That's a pretty big difference. Highly doubt he returns to a point per game pace in the NHL. Though the guy is a Thoroughbred so who knows. And guys like Damien Brunner had 1st line, best player on the team, duties in Europe. We stuck him on the 3rd line. So usage matters. All he's saying is essentially 1 NHL pt = 0.74 KHL pt and thus it's a ranking of the strength of the leagues as well -

Griffins Calder Cup Playoffs Thread

Classic Ken trade down. I'll take Mantha + Bertuzzi over Mirco Mueller anyday. -
Saarijarvi plays chippy for an undersized guy as well. I'm a big fan of Jeff Mareks, and he's super high on Joe Hicketts. Hoping that's a good sign. I doubt any of them are the next Erik Karlsson, but hopefully at best one is a guy who can compliment a legit #1 or hold down the 2nd pair. Just gotta find the #1, somehow, someway

Hall is a very good player on a very bad team. Just like it wasnt Halls fault that NJ missed, its not Larsson that put Edmonton over the edge. Alarming that that needs to be said
-
Havent watched enough of Sambrook, but he sounds good Cholo had a rough first year in the NCAA numbers wise, but from what I hear he was relied upon heavily for a freshmen Hronek and Saarijarvi are very exciting players. Both potential Rafalski/Krug types. Hicketts should be in the conversation with them too. Issue with these 3 is the size obviously. Choosing the right complimentary partners to play with them should mitigate that though. Im thinking Stuart/Methot types. XO/Jensen could be our answer already.
