Congrats, I hope you have a good trip. I haven't lived in Detroit for like over 10 years now, but I feel I can give some quality recommendations. Before or after the game, if you're hungry, go to Lafayette Coney island for a coney dog (or two). It's right down town and it is a religious Detroit staple. This place has fed many drunken Wings fans. DO NOT eat at National Coney Island. It is right next door and looks cleaner and nicer, but this is a facade. We built this establishment to lure in foolish foreigners. The superior dogs are next door at Lafayette. I've ran into Babcock once in Lafayette coney and I've heard before that the Wings place big orders to their all the time. Obviously I highly recommend. This establishment is part of the true Detroit experience IMHO. If you're looking to have a meal that's not just hot dogs and fries, my favorite recommendation is Polish Village Cafe. It's in Hamtramck, which is just outside downtown. This place does better polish foods than the Poles do in Poland IMHO. Like Lafayette, it's sorta a hole in the wall, but true Detroiter's flock to this place, you won't be disappointied. Expect it to be packed on game-day so get their a lil early. I always get the Polish plate, which is like the tour of Italy if you follow me. Highly recommend. Other than that I don't have very specific recommendations. I know most ppl stay close to the casinos AKA greektown, motor city, or MGM. It's probably smart get a room in one of those casinos. I like to recommend AirBNB, but renting a home in Detroit is probably risky business depending on what street you end up on.. Casino rooms are probably the smartest option.

Red Wings retain 50% of contract. 2020 4th becomes a 2021 3rd if the Oilers make the conference finals this year. I say this with total candor, I really like Kyle Brodziak. Always thought he was a very good bottom 6 player. If we were in a playoff spot and wanted to add depth I would have been very happy to add this man at one point. Unfortunately we're not in a playoff spot and Brodziak's career is over. Underwhelming trade, but you take what you can get I guess. David Pope - Alex Biega 4th - Adam Erne DLR - Robby Fabbri Alex Regula - Brandon Perlini Kaski - Wood Saarijarvi - Comrie Green - 4th Yzerman's trade record I basically view this as: DLR, Regula, and Green, for Biega and Fabbri. Yzerman likes to trade for sure, but I wouldn't say he's especially good at it so far. This is another trade that is basically nothing to brag about. Without the Fabbri trade his judgement is very suspect. I realize the trades are minor ones but still... Mike Green sucks

Namestnikov spent a lot of time around Detroit and the Wings lockerroom when Kozlov was on the team, and was well known by a lot of people within the organization. There was a lot of speculation Holland was targeting him in his draft year because of this connection, but Yzerman (who knew the kid well) took him in the first round and we had to take boring Jurco with our high 2nd. I'd say he has a connection to Yzerman before Tampa and after Tampa, and therefore Detroit in both instances. When is the whole Namestnikov getting $6 mil charade gonna end? July 1st?
