Namestnikov is neither a big name nor old by any respects. I'm not sure what fantasy land everyone is living in, but after about half a dozen names this roster is complete bungus. I'm in no way saving a spot for anyone after those names and most all need to be replaced and we have the money to do it. I suggest possibly signing one young 3rd liner to help out and you all act like I'm committing the team to Nielsen/Abby cap hell lol this will be a fun off-season . Oh yeah? My point was that; you say we don't need to sign players, but we absolutely do. And it's evidenced by last year when you said the same thing, yet we still needed to add four forwards. And yet we still suck. If anything he needs to continue adding, not stand pat. I'm merely indicating a player who has a strong connection to Detroit and Yzerman who we could target.

I'm pretty sure you said "Don't sign any UFAs" last year or something to that effect. And yet the team added Filppula, Erne, Fabbri, and Perlini, as forwards alone. Regardless, we'll have plenty of capspace for a 27 year old center if we are in need of one

Right I sorta recall that he was supposed to be a long-term project Dman. I thought that was why he went to University to begin with. Then he gives up on the NCAA pretty quick and suddenly Holland is giving him almost a full season at 20 years old. Part of me really thinks Holland started trying to rush things at the end. As much as they talk about how Holland helped facilitate Yzerman coming in, you gotta think that guy would have gone to some decent lengths to protect his job and salvage his tenure if he could. I just want Yzerman to make the right call now and keep him out of the NHL for a bit. No need to mimic Holland here.

On Blake Coleman, when I read the trade last night I honestly thought it was for Blake Comeau I was like alright Blake Comeau is high-end bottom 6 guy (or at least was) and he hits everything that moves and shoots a ton. I can see why Tampa wants him. Then I started realizing no one really knew much about Blake Coleman, which confused me since Blake Comeau has been in the league for a while, and then I realized oh crap Coleman and Comeau are two different people. So I checked Coleman's stats and he hits everything that moves and shoots a ton. And now I'm even more confused.

I honestly think trading him at the draft might be a lot smarter, so I won't complain if Stevie is patient on this (that's not true I absolutely will complain) it's gonna be a real kick in the nuts though if he comes out flat again next season if he's not traded at the draft.

I am glad that you agree, but I don't think he is ready or deserving of an NHL taste this season. Smith, Rasmussen, Svechnikov, Hirose, Turgeon, and even Kuffner are more ready IMO
