Speaking of Eaves, he has 21 goals on the season now. Our highest is Vanek and AA tied at 14.

I believe Holmstrom, Jarnkrok, Elfstrom, Ehn, and Malmstrom were all Hakan picks. Not positive, but I believe Backman and Janmark were Hakan as well. Not surprisingly that's all Swedes.
-
Yeah he's really good, I just like gambling

I think you guys think too much of Trouba. By far the highest pick we've had in forever, and most of you want to trade it? Put all the chips on black (or perhaps in this case red) 13 and let it ride.

We were badly short on centers at the time. Injuries.

We overvalue the kids because of their age. Add 5 years to any of their ages with these stats, and no one would care. It's cool theyre getting playing time, and I hope at least one develops into something more, but none have shown theyre going to be top 4 Dmen yet. Should be safe from vegas.

As it should be. Theoretically, salary is an indicator of value to the team. Larkin and Mantha are up there though. The only low paid player not getting minutes despite obvious talent is AA
-
Just wanted to point out Blashills usage of forwards according to TOI/G 1. Zetterberg (far and away the heaviest minutes) 2. Nielsen (as 2nd line center has to play big minutes so I get it) 3. Nyquist 4. Tatar 5. Mantha 6. Larkin 7. Abdelkader 8. Helm 9. Vanek (getting less minutes than Nyquist, Tatar, Larkin, Abby, and Helm = insane) 10. Sheahan 11. Glendening 12. Athansiou (Our best 5v5 scorer is this low = insane) 13. Miller 14. Ott 14. Jurco

Yeah I keep Green and protect him, Trouba, and DK. Expose the rest.
-
Babcock's had him for 2 weeks and still hasn't played him.

Dater reporting Toronto has entered the mix on teams going hard after Landeskog and Duchene

I don't care to protect either of Ericsson or Kronwall anyway

Again, you're jumping to conclusions on a player and a trade before either has had a chance to pan out. Book is still open. And we've established that you are OK with the Chychrun/Datsyuk trade for the right player. You just personally don't like Nielsen. Personally I'd like to see what he can do on our team when it's being coached properly before I pass judgement. Again, you're mad at him for missing, not swinging. So why are we going round and round talking about Chychrun when the root of the problem for you is Nielsen versus Stamkos.
-
EXACTLY my thinking. Thank you. Until we know what kind of players Chychrun and Cholowski both are we can't close the book on this deal. We also don't know what will become of Vanek, Nielsen, and Ott just yet. And to be fair they haven't been able to play on a decent Red Wings team yet. Everyone's constantly clamoring for Holland to swing for the fences, and then when he actually swings people complain. He missed the ball on this one, but that was out of his control. He tried. Nielsen and Vanek were plan B.

I like good defensive players and I don't mind defensive minded coaches, in fact I prefer them. But to KR's point, I agree, the way this team is built I think they should be playing a risky, up-tempo style offense. Our forward group is where the depth on this team is. A Lindy Ruff type coach I think could squeeze a lot more out of them. Sure we'd also probably give up more goals than we are now, but my thought is perhaps we'd score more than we'd give up. If this team had better D we could probably play how Blashill wants to, but it doesn't, and unfortunately I think he's trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
-
Exactly. You don't have a problem with clearing Chychrun and cap. You have a problem with spending that cap on Nielsen. Thanks for making that clear.
-
Sobotka is higher on that list than Karen Newman. So yeah, of course hes ahead of Holland.
-
Do you disagree with something I said?
-
Yeah by swinging his stick at another player. Looked like he was maybe intending to hit the body and caught the face on accident, but he was definitely intending to swing his stick at Spurgeon, which is wrong. Depends on your definition of premeditated. He was checked to the ice on the play and when he got up swung his stick in anger. So I guess you can say it was a crime of passion. It was definitely on purpose though, just maybe not purposely to face.
-
Well AA and Larkin are both originally centers, and a lot of other players can play C. Nielsen, Ott, Helm, Zberg, Sheahan, Glendening. Holmstrom is also a promising center prospect. The priority for me is D-men. The only top 4 Dmen on this team right now are DK and Green.
-
I would like harsher penalties for slewfooting as well, but what Marchand did is irrelevent to this case. Nyquist straight up pitchforked a guy in the face in a moment of anger. Clearly wasn't accidental. Gus should get a hefty suspension and a long stern look from Zetterberg. Gutless move, and it brings shame to the winged wheel. Gustav Nyquist, you are hereby admonished.

Jets are going to give up Trouba to move up 31 spots?

Those guys were on the out for so long, it was a relief when they finally got canned so people could stop talking about it.
