Jonathan Ericsson out with fractured wrist, no timetable for return.

If youre basing how you act and behave on social media, youve made the wrong choice my friend.

I like Jensen. I'm not arguing that players getting injured isnt an oppurtunity for others. No duh it is. I hope they make the most of it. But celebrating that injury is douchey anyway you cut it. That's a man with a family and a career. A wing who's done his best for us. If you hate him enough to celebrate his misfortune, complain about the managers and coaches who put him in the role hes in.

Im not opposed to change. Im not opposed to trading Ericsson or buying him out either. I am opposed to openly celebrating a player, however bad or good, sustaining an injury. I remember when Lebda and Smith were the "change we needed". Looking back that's a bit crazy right? If those young guys are good they will play themselves on to the roster and into significant roles. We don't need ericsson to be injuried for that to happen.

Yes, we'll finally get to see one of those guys develop into the new Ericsson whipping boy yayyyy. I'm no Ericsson slappy, but the endless circlejerk about how bad he is is lame. I get it. Hes worth less than his cap hit. Hes still an NHL caliber Dman on a team that seems completely unable to develop top 4 NHL caliber Dmen. Cheering for him, or any player, to get injured is outright shameful. Just because the team is poor does not mean we need to act poorly. Completely with Dickie on this one. I hope E has a speedy recovery.

2/9 GDT - Red Wings at Capitals - 7:00 PM EST

Made it to a Minny game last weekend. Wasnt blown away by their defensive play but good god the whole team seemed able to score at will.

    Interview with Petr Mrazek

I was physically at the draft. Holland never received a phone call. The deal appeared to be done between tables via proxy. As far as I could tell Chayka and Holland never spoke. When the Wings choice came they went over their time to select, and basically a break was called. Clearly something was going down. Ironically, I made friends with the Leafsbro sitting next to me and we were discussing how lucky I was to have Chychrun sink all the way to the wings pick. I was quite happy with this and Leafsbro made more than a few comments about how lucky Detroit always is. Needless to say, but Bettman announced the trade about 2 minutes later. Impossible to say who initiated the talks on draft day. Perhaps Chayka saw an oppurtunity to get Chychrun. Perhaps Holland saw the oppurtunity to use Chychrun as leverage. All I can say is that it definately was last second and Chychrun was probably the piece that made the deal work. Fun fact: Despite being the yotes GM, Chayka had big fat maple leafs sticker covering the apple logo on his macbook. There's some deep loyalty there.

Can We Please Stop Putting Teams In Unsustainable Cities?

I suspect the Yotes would go to Seattle to stay on the west coast for any Yotes fans. Perhaps the Canes will go back to Hartford.

    Interview with Petr Mrazek

Are you implying we are out to get you or something? Trust me, I do not come here looking for your posts to refute. We probably just fundamentally disagree about the team, but that's ok, if we didn't have differing opinion there wouldn't be anything to talk about. You stated "I'm not overrating Chychrun" and "he'll (Chychrun) become on the most feared hitters in the league" in the same paragraph. To me, that clearly illustrates that you are overrating Chychrun. It is indeed very rare to find an NHL-ready Dman in the draft, but that in no way guarantees he will develop into "the most feared hitter in the league" or even a decent top 4 guy. I think you have to wait and see on both Chychrun and Cholowski yet. I think that's pretty reasonable. Then you go on to say Cholowski should have been drafted in the second round. Based on what? You being upset that we didn't select the player you wanted? You sound like everyone who hated the Tyler Bertuzzi selection. Everyone griped and moaned that he was selected too high, but that tune changed very quickly once fans got a look at what he would likely develop into. Again, it's much too soon to call Cholowski a waste and Chychrun a stud. It sounds like you're more upset about Holland spending his Stamkos money on Nielsen then you are about actually dumping Datsyuk's salary. If that's the case, lets talk about that.

http://www.thescore.com/news/1228103 Connecticut Proposes $250M Renovation To Create NHL Arena Islanders moving to Hartford? Whalers did have way better sweaters.... Hartford moves to Carolina. NYI moves to Hartford (possibly). Quebec moves to Colorado. Carolina moves to Quebec (possibly). Winnipeg moves to Arizona. Atlanta moves to Winnipeg. Arizona moves to Seattle (possibly). Minnesota moves to Dallas. NHL expands into Minnesota. This league is hilarious.

I can understand not wanting to lose Methot. He's not a super valuable player, but he's like Holmstrom was to us. Alone Homer wasn't anything crazy, but you pair him with the Euro twins and you suddenly have a super deadly top line. Methot has that with Karlsson.

Ottawa seems pretty happy with Phaneuf. He's really solidified their 2nd pairing with Cody Ceci. One of the reasons I have doubts about this rumor. The rumors I have heard is that they are considering moving Lazar before the expansion.

Can We Please Stop Putting Teams In Unsustainable Cities?

Glendale newspaper reporting this morning that Coyotes management have toured arenas in both Seattle and Portland. NBC also reporting it, quoting Yotes president as saying they are keeping their options open. The president is denying these reports, saying they are committed to Arizona. This is the same president guy who said that Glendale was a short term option for them in the past. He's given a lot of conflicting information to the press over the years. Not sure if it's a smoke screen, but pretty excited to hear my city might be getting a team in the near future. Seattle is growing incredibly quickly and is full of transplants from the east coast. Thanks Amazon.

    Interview with Petr Mrazek

Chychrun has 61 hits on the season. He's hitting at the same pace as Kronwall, Ericsson, and Brendan Smith. Do you consider any of those 3 hard-hitting physical D-men? I see you've cooked up a nice narrative on how that deal went down. I seem to remember most being thrilled with the deal at the time it happened, as the speculation was that moving that contract would cost us a lot more than it actually did. So it's too early to tell on Chychrun, but Cholowski is a "waste". Ok dude.

    Bruins fire Claude Julien

I agree. I think you're correct to assume there might be 1 or 2 more firings before summer sets in. I think Lindy and Coops are pretty safe. Disco Dan and Tippett could be gone though.

    Howard hurt.....again

*Howard tweeks knee* LGW: "HE'S LOST ALL VALUE! BUY HIM OUT!" Settle down people, so far it's just being called a tweek. Let's see what the Detroit doctors say. If Dallas scores Fleury, and Calgary scores Bishop, Vegas and a few other teams will still need starting goalies. Vegas also has to hit the cap floor too remember. Price tags should be a very non-issue for them.

    Bruins fire Claude Julien

And I don't expect you will until the day it happens. If you've noticed the Wings are reallyyyy good at keeping things behind closed doors. They're basically the exact oppsite of Toronto or Montreal in that regard. Holland could fire Blash tomorrow without warning and I wouldnt be surprised. The guy has been pretty awful this year. I guess my point is we really have no idea if Blash is on the chopping block or not. Just cause the Wings are quiet doesnt mean theyre happy. However, if I was a betting man, I do think it's much more likely a firing comes in the offseason at the earliest and I think it's even more likely Blash gets 1 more season.
