This does not bode well for my anti-mrazek agenda

You're being serious? The kid is 18 and you have no idea how he will develop. Sorry you didn't get your precious Chychrun and the whopping 11 pts hes put up... also worth mentioning that dumping that salary allowed us to sign Helm, Vanek, and Ott. Those guys will net us more draft picks pretty soon here. Losing has driven this board mad.

I agree. Purely speculating on who we could scoop up IF Blashill gets canned. If you feel that discussion is pointless, I don't know what to tell you, maybe this isn't the thread for you. Julien's probably not going to consider a new position until the season is over though. By that time the list of teams should open up a bit more with another firing or two.

Pretty sure one of them voted for Beauchemin for the Norris last year Now I remember why I stopped keeping up with advanced stats lol. Appreciate the long post though.

Was listening to Greg Wyshynski discuss Selke candidates for the year. His top 3 were Kesler, Koivu, and Bergeron, but he also gave a lot of love to Zetterberg. He said Zetterberg has had a fantastic season defensively and the "underlying numbers" really show that. Can anyone who's into advanced stats confirm this? Also said Kopitar and Toews have been awful (Sorry Frank)

I think Florida is happy with Tom Rowe. I get the feeling Patty Roy will end up in Vegas. Not sure why, just a feeling. Clearly that Avs team had/has deeper issues than his coaching. Regardless, Detroit is clearly the most attractive option on that list. I don't agree that we are officially a rebuilding team though. This franchise would be sold to Julien on the premise that their would be a retoolng this offseason and a bounce back next year boosted by his coaching.
-
Kesler has been real gud, but out of pure fandom id like to see Mikko get a selke. Hes usually in the mix but goes untalked about by most fans. I think hes been fantastic defensively for a very long time, just isnt a supestar name.
-
That too. Hossa as well should probably have a Selke under his belt but will probably never get one because he plays wing.
-
I think Z would have gotten more recognition for the Selke had he not been on the same team as that Russian feller from the yotes for so many years. Yeah Wyshynski was definitely using his own numbers in his evaluation. Some type of advanced metric. Doesn't the hockey writers association hand out ballots to their writers for the award? So theoretically couldn't writers vote based on whatever numbers they want?
-
Reread my original statement. Not sure where you pulled "cesspit, browns, or yotes" out of that. Which contender is hiring that you expect Julien to walk on to?
-
I answered that. Original 6. Untapped talent. $$$. Need more?

Looking ahead at expansion draft

Rumor has it (with both Bishop and Fleury expected to move) Howard is the #1 choice for Vegas in net. Just rumor, but I expect a lot of folks around here would be happy to hear this. If true, really makes the expansion simple for us. -
At this point I'd agree. But if you are actually aware of his career, you'd know he was a 1st round pick that was completely mismanaged. Ok let's just start playing all the kids as soon as we draft them. You wouldn't have a problem with that would you?
-
I never suggested he WANTS to take over this team. Only that we are certainly a more attractive destination than you give us credit for.
-
Some pretty official numbers there Dick
-
Tom Mccollum. I'm all for playing young talent, but you don't play kids for the sake of it at their possible detriment. Plain irresponsible.
-
Not sure if you heard, but we're not the Florida Panthers. Original 6 franchises are attractive in this league, simple as that. Sure we're not good at the moment, but everyone knows there's untapped talent on this team. Not like Julien is going to hold out for the BlackHawks coaching position or something. Bad teams need coaches, that's how that works.
-
Even if he goes to a contender he'll likely end up in Vegas. He's one of the few high end talents they'll be able to negotiate with.

wicked burns -
oh there is a pattern, that's for sure.
-
Also, McGuirre told TSN that Bruins wanted to fire Julien at the end of last season, but feared Ottawa would hire him (they hired Boucher). If Boston was worried about a divisional rival picking up Julien, perhaps they know something we don't. That something being that Blashill is likely not being fired by Detroit anytime soon.
-
Babcock said it best "(Julien being fired) is going to make someone very happy" I hope that someone is us. PS Shocky is a troll

Maybe if his contract was expiring. It is not. He's arguably our best D-man and Holland's not going to move that until the 2018 TD at the earliest, if we're still this bad then. -
