I'd like to scoot on down to GR and knock that Ben Simon around I tell ya what. Not playing top 10 pick future 2C Veleno in favor of future 3rd line winger shoulda been drafted 15 picks lower Rasmussen? Its objectionable way outta line malarchy. Does this guy need glasses to see velenos doing all the heavy lifting out there or something? Cause id like to put my own pair of knuckles under that hombres chin bone if u catch my drift there fella.

That assumes the fact that you think the two draft classes are radically different. They're not. Most draft classes have more in common than they have different. There's players found late who are good and players who are found early who are bad in every draft. "This draft is epic deep" is hype talk BS pretty much every year, and it often just means McDavid AND Eichel are in the same draft and the statement is irrelevant to the rest of the players in it. I very seriously think player draft position would not vary much if transplanted to a different year, unless you're speaking with hindsight in mind. Reaching is a fan concocted myth IMHO. It's only reaching based on your POV and the semi-accurate information you've been fed. Teams have their own lists and rankings that don't at all match the ones you've been spammed with all season. So what you perceive as a reach probably isn't one to the team making the pick. Later in the draft position likely starts to take on a slightly bigger role. Only because it's a total crap shoot in the later rounds 90% of the time, so teams become slightly more concerned with drafting for need. Completely disagree. Most of us do it knowingly or unknowingly everyday. While somewhat variable, there is a very clear different set of expectations for players in every draft round. It becomes less prominent in the late rounds and hyper prominent in the 1st round. Fans clearly expect a player drafted top3 to possibly be generational. Top10 hopefully high level impact players. Later 1st maybe a top6er or top4 Dman. 2nd round maybe a top6 or bottom6. And it cascades down from there. This set of expectations doesn't seem to vary much year to year despite some drafts being quote on quote deep, and its based on everyone's unconscious comparison of players in this draft to players in former drafts. And It's mostly accurate. Not only do top5 guys have an extremely higher rate of success, they also overwhelming score more points than guys from later rounds. But bickering is fun and you can't win if you don't play. Pacifists always lose.

It's almost like stats are a reflection of the game I've had this funny AHLTV app on my phone, my home desktop, and my work computer since like 2018. Do you think I should click on it?

    Our Young Players

How do you afford the 50 bucks every year? I keep trying to budget it in so I can finally watch a Griffins game for the first time, but can't make it work :(

But you didn't watch the games Otherwise you would have noticed what a better player Ras is. Odd, maybe your evaluation methods are flawed?

Sorry I forgot. Despite Ras being drafted MUCH higher, and playing MUCH better in his first pro season, and Playing MUCH better this season, he has lower potential than Veleno cause you watched the games

Yeah. Lower drafted players have more potential than higher drafted players. Very coherent. I'm starting to think you don't even watch the Red Wings My crystal ball shows Veleno doesn't have the dexterity to make it in this league, especially after he gets dropped by a fricken elbow to the ribcage It's better to be bigger It's better to be drafted higher

There ya go, attacking the messenger instead of the message AGAIN. If you need time to put together a coherent argument just do it and take a break. Maybe Veleno will be half as good as Rasmussen when you get back? Allow me to pile on though. If Veleno is so mis-drafted according to you that he should be a Top10 pick Well. Ras. Is. Already. A. Top. 10. Pick. Oh no sir, I watch the Griffins A LOT and it is you who I suspect do not watch them since your opinions are so wildly wrong

Oh I'll spin ya in circles and flip ya every which direction, you followin' me partner? So why don't we just trade down then? Clearly there's better players in the 20-40s like Veleno like u say. Hell trade down all our picks. Position doesn't even matter. Oh no, that totally invalidates my argument. I didn't know you watch them play A LOT. Perhaps you've noticed that Ras scores a lot more and gets scored on a lot less? Perhaps you've noticed his albatross wingspan that allows him to basically touch both half walls at once. Or that his one stride is equivalent to 2 Veleno strides. Goalies have noticed that his giant bulbous hockey ass sits directly in their face while his silky soft shea butter mitts funnel pucks into their nets. The kid can't even be knocked down. He breaks checks like Gronkowski dancing into an endzone.

With Hirose and Smith both on the team he should easily be our #1 forward callup right now. He's been dominant in the AHL this season. After the TDL I can see him being on the team fulltime again.

If the argument is as dumb as you claim it should be easily refutable. And yet, we do go back and forth for pages on these "dumb" arguments with many legitimate points. Suggesting that the argument is not as "dumb" as you might have folks believe, you just disagree. Rasmussen and Veleno are probably both gonna get on up there to NFL to rough u up and flatten you out See here's prime example. Is it really that dumb or are you just insulting the argument? BAD ARGUMENT NO You've cherry picked a very late first rounder who's VERY GOOD, and a higher first rounder who's meh. And that's fine. I'm not denying this happens. Draft pedigree isn't everything. But you're citing the exception, not the norm. Generally speaking one should expect a 9th overall is better than a 30th overall. That should need no explanation. And Rasmussen and Veleno aren't Nichuskin and Pastaman. They're both 20 year old prospects still (separated by 9 months, I know). And one is playing much better than the other on the same team in same league. That happens to be the higher drafted player who one would expect to be better than his 30th overall counterpart. It's a shame Rasmussen didn't play in the AHL his first season so we had more concrete comparables, but I will attempt it anyway. First pro season: Ras: 62 GP, 18 PTS, -1 (NHL) 12:05 TOI/GP Veleno: 41 GP, 17 PTS, -21 (AHL) Icetime not available Already I much prefer Rasmussen's numbers personally considering the different leagues and icetime afforded. I think it's reasonable to assume Veleno is probably being afforded somewhere in the range of 14 to 20 minutes a night with the Griffs (top 3 lines).

Nah I don't usually run around calling folks dumb and stupid unless someone starts it first with me. You on the other hand do it without provocation on a daily basis. I haven't doxed anyone. Any personal information was volunteered. Right now I'm projectin' my knee cap on ya chin bone You don't think top10 picks are better than 30 overalls? It's just fun to point out how the age only matters to you when it's convenient to your argument No
