Bring Yzerman and Gallant home -
I think there would be much different results without Blashill

I have pretty much have the exact same interpretation of him. Always respected and liked the guy. Also part of the reason why I don't think he's done after STL. He's just tired of being on the chopping block there, and so he's making the decision for them since they seem to keep flirting with the idea of firing him but can never pull the trigger. Get him on our bench please.

I'll take Hitch or Gallant. Ted left his junior team to be the Sabres HC for one year as a favor to them and then went straight back to his junior team. He's lost any NHL moxy he once had.
-
Like who? Lashoff? The rest of the team are legit NHLers. Sure we've had to call up some kids like Sproul and what not, but every team has to do this when the injuries role in. Besides the D this actually pretty deep team on paper. We're a team of 2nd and 3rd liners, we don't have elite talent, but don't have absolute crap talent either. AKA average. DOOM N GLOOM!

Without going back to look this up, I believe he signed a 1 year extension with STL for this season and said after this year he's done. Does that mean he's done in St. Louis or done altogether? Most took it to mean he's going to retire, but there's a lot of speculation that he has plenty of coaching left in him and he still wants to coach. He's always been described as a guy who loves his job.

If the season continues like this, I see the earliest being sometime around the draft and free agency. I doubt we will lose him mid-season. Holland and co I'm sure will give him all opportunities to right the ship before a canning. The question is who we think will become available for hire. Hitchcock?

Oh please negative Nancy. There's a rule now that you must have a few legit top line forwards or top pair D in order to be average? News to me. I thought you just needed a team full of average players to be average. But that would make too much sense I guess.

We should trade Mraz and find an actual reliable backup, so we're ready when this happens.

Jimmy "The Rock" Howard's been a whole lot more reliable than Petr "The Next Coming of Jesus" Mrazek

Right. Although Dennis Cholololololwski doesn't quite have the same ring as Paul Coffey -

I know he was a healthy scratch for a few games. Tippett said something along the lines of hes over-thinking things and needs a breather. He's basically been used as their 6th Dman right now. His stats are meh, 5 pts and -4 -
Fundamental shift in the way the game is played?
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to grimace1970's topic in General
It seems to me Blashills philosophy is having the forwards collapse in the D-zone to assist our overall weak Dmen. I'd like to see the opposite. Despite lacking top end talent we are pretty deep at forward. And plenty of our forwards have the wheels to be effective in a swarm style defense like Pittsburgh played on their road to the cup last year. Tatar, Nyquist, Larkin, Helm, Glendening, and Athanasiou are all very quick, and the rest of our forwards aren't exactly slow either. They should be using their speed to pressure the puck carrier and overwhelm them. Don't let them setup. I think this would end up helping our Dmen more than collapsing in the zone simply because it plays to our natural strengths. If we were a bigger slower team I would disagree, but we are not a big slow team not counting Ericsson. It seems like the rest of the league took a page out of Pittsburghs book, and the only who didn't notice was Blash. -
Jeff Blashill, meet Dave Lewis. Sheahan will be in Vegas this time next year.
-
Howard's like Ozzy. You wanna hate on him but he's just too reliable. He's our rock.
-
Its not fun to watch, but it may get us to the playoffs still. i guess thats the fear for some ppl whod rather draft high. I just wanna watch good hockey, but at this point ill take any hockey my b**** wife lets me see

Z is a natural winger who got slotted at C cause hes too friggin good not to. Dats was a natural C who sometimes played wing.
-
This team has ZERO top end talent. You look around the league and even most basement teams have 1 elite player. We have none. A team comprised of 2/3rd line forwards. 2/3rd pairing Dmen. And average goaltening. We are loaded to the brim with mediocrity

Guys, anything can happen in the playoffs...

So you legitametly think teams play for the tie and overtime and not the outright win? is that what im hearing? -

D-Boss video. It's a thing. -
Abby is a great complimentary piece in the top 6. Does he drive play? no. Does he contribute and add a different element? yes. Glendening doesnt need to be a top line offensive threat to be decent at an upgraded role.
