Seriously. its very possible Jimmy wins the starting spot back. Mraz is the new hot young thing so everyone sees him as future Hasek but he certainly hasnt proved that yet

You're not wrong. But there's absolutely zero to suggest Howard wants a change of scenery. He signed a long deal with an NTC here. That's indicative of a player not interested in moving. Can that situation change? Sure. The point I'm trying to make is that I would certainly not count on or expect Howard to waive that NTC, or list realistic trade partners.

I wouldn't say either is the clear number 1 right now. They're both fighting for that spot still. You don't know that that is Howard's priority. He originally negotiated an NTC into his contract because he DID NOT want to be traded. Can that situation change? Sure. But you don't know that it has. He has played his entire professional career in Michigan. He has a wife and young kids. There's good reasons why he worked that NTC into his contract. I think fans lose sight of players being real people with families and lives outside of hockey. I've moved around the states quit a bit because of work. It's fun when you're young, but once you get older and have kids that's often far from the case. Simply put, you leave dollars on the table to get an NTC so you know you won't have to go through a trade to a new team and new city. Howard is playing well this season, and there's nothing to suggest he wants out of Detroit. The power is in his hands.

    Be honest..

I would. Pretty much the only one on the team. However, I feel like a lot of the production he generates stems from his line mates.

Oh lord. The point is listing teams who don't want or need goalies that way you can't be traded because a deal will never get done.

Sarcasm Alert Perhaps standing in front of the net was a poor choice of words. Allow me to elaborate. A powerforward in today's NHL, to me, is someone who goes to the dirty areas and plays physically but is more offensively skilled than a grinder type defensive specialist. This is a player who goes to the front of the net, digs the puck out in the corners, plays with an edge, and can notch some points while doing this. Being a PF isn't really about fighting anymore.

There are good players on bad teams all the time. Vanek and Tatar are not going to will us into the playoffs. Vanek went to NYI for Moulson + Conditional 1st + 2nd. Then to MTL for a prospect selected in the 2nd round + 2nd. I don't think it's unreasonable to think we can move him for a low 2nd at this point of his career. Florida gave up a 2nd and a 4th for Hudler last year. Tatar will certainly garner more.

Thing about Howard is sure you can waive or buy him out, but we all know that won't happen unless he takes a serious nosedive. He has the modified NTC sure, but here's my list of teams if I am him: 1. Pittsburgh 2. Tampa 3. NYR 4. Boston 5. NJ 6. Nashville 7. Toronto 8. Washington 9. Montreal 10. Florida Good luck getting that deal done Ken

I think it's hilarious that Brad played only 2 seasons for SJ and then had to take a hike and go to Colorado. I know it was for his daughter, but I am a bitter man.

On the assumption we are well out of the playoff race come trade deadline. Guys with 1 year left and no protection clause on their contract: Tatar Vanek Miller Ott Smith I'm thinking Tatar could net a 1st? Vanek a 2nd? Smith maybe even a 3rd to a team that wants to add warm bodies at D?

Just draft the kid. Pry Miller out of Vancouver, and Smith out of Florida. Complete the bro team.

In this current league Hudler is probably considered a power forward. In all seriousness though, to be considered a power forward today I think you just have to be big and willing to stand in front of the net. Fighting is bad mmkay?
