I'd like to think Yzerman found another diamond in the rough here. He had a lot of success with such endeavors in Tampa. But then he signed and pissed away Kaski - who has 15 pts in 20 games now for the Charlotte Checkers - for some nobody named Kyle Wood. Doesn't exactly feel like he knows what hes doing here right now. Besides drafting Seider (which ppl speculate Holland would have done anyway) and trading for Fabbri, Yzerman has done nothing for this team and I think it hurt it in a lot of ways. Needs to have a BIG TDL, draft, and free agency, or I'm gonna poop on his jersey and broadcast it on the discord.

Interesting theory, but this team has not gotten any better since Zadina joined it. You'd think with a core like Larkin/Bertuzzi/Hronek/Zadina and as of late Bernier, this team would actually perform well... I mean if I said our core was ROR/Perron/Pietrangelo/Tarasenko and Binnington one would think we'd be winning games, no? But we're not. Precisely because Larkin WILL NEVER be an ROR. Bertuzzi WILL NEVER be a Perron. Hronek WILL NEVER be a Pietrangelo. Zadina WILL NEVER be a Tarasenko. And Bernier WILL NEVER be a Binnington. We are not a terrible team because Chris Ehn is 4th liner. We're not even the worst team because 4th line Abdelkader is paid too much. We are the worst team because our BEST players are not good enough. Periphery players are the difference between a playoff team and a cup team. Core players are the difference between a playoff/cup team and a basement one. Nielsen, Howard, Abdelkader, are convenient distractions to a much more serious problem. And that is we have a lot of good young players (Larkin, Mantha, Bertuzzi, Hronek, Cholowski, Fabbri, Ehn, Smith, Zadina, Bowey, Athanasiou) and yet we are STILL not getting it done. In fact, we are embarrassingly the worst team in the league with these players. I don't know why anyone still has faith in them. They should be taken behind the nearest little ceasars and shot in the back of the head and their bodies dumped into the grease trap. But i will settle for them being traded so we can draft better players. This team has serious problems which require drastic solutions. If this is our core, it is the WORST core in the league. Which makes one wonder why we should even bother keeping it in tact... TRADE LARKIN TRADE ZADINA TRADE BERTUZZI TRADE HRONEK AND TRADE MANTHA. Draft and sign a whole new team. These ******* idiots are useless and unmotivated.

Just to elaborate more on the player, he has played EVERYWHERE. Allvenskan SHL Liiga KHL WHL ECHL AHL International He excelled in the WHL and Allvenskan (lower leagues) early in his career. Went undrafted, but was eventually signed by the Rangers. He struggled in the AHL for the Rangers, got reassigned to the ECHL, then left to return to Europe. When he got back to Europe his play exploded. Prior to his AHL stint he had just 14 pts in 87 games in Swedens top league, the SHL. After his AHL stint he had 77 pts in 89 games in the Liiga, Finlands top league. Now he's stepped up to the KHL where he has 36 pts in 44 games. Translation factor wise that equates to about a 50 pt season in a full NHL season. Don't wanna pump this kid up too much cause he's likely nothing special, but Yzerman has a very good track record at bringing in undrafted talent. Yanni Gourde for example.

Does anyone know the song and band from this video? I unironically love it. He's probably somewhere between a Fabian Brunnstrom and a Damien Brunner. Perhaps the timing of this signing indicates Yzerman is preparing to sell off some forwards in the near future? I can only hope.

I tend to like the Dean Lombardi philosophy of having 3 elite players (1 Goalie, 1 Dman, 1 Center) then shuffling pieces around that core as needed. Yzerman got his Dman in Seider. He will hopefully get his elite center in Stutzle. Then we just need a goalie before the real building and tooling starts. If he can somehow get Askarov AND Stoots this year i will literally coom in my GFs womb, because i will know the future is safe and secure for me to bring new red wings fans into the world.

As someone who preached "maintaining the culture" for years, it's much too late to late for that now. "The culture" is gone. What's losing 5, 10, 20 extra games with Howard in net? Who cares. It's pointless. This season is a meaningless march into the grave with or without Bernier. Get the picks if you can. IMHO we are on the 5-10 year plan. This team is at the very least a half decade of retooling away from being something with a semblance of competency. I do not trust we will find anything of great value in Holland's recent drafts, and Yzerman only has one under his belt. Seider is a great building block, and maybe we will have more gems in that draft, but Yzerman needs another 3 solid building blocks at least. That could very well take him 3 more drafts to do, with multiple years of development on top of that. That's if all goes exactly to plan. Precisely. This teams "core" is completely and utterly overrated. Larkin is not a Fedorov, Yzerman, Datsyuk, or Zetterberg. Hronek is not a Lidstrom, Rafalski, Fetisov, or Coffey. Bertuzzi is not his uncle and will probably be nothing more than a decent top6 winger. Mantha is the one I have the most hope for at this point at being elite, but we will now be going into next season with a 26 year old Mantha who has never breached 50 pts. I would have absolutely no problem with Yzerguy flipping any of these players for something else or picks at the deadline. f*** em. I think everyone here has considered you a "prospect slappy" since you joined the website. It's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm a Franzen-slappy, Howard-slappy, and Seider-slappy. I'll die for my boys. I'll explain my POV on Larkin, Zadina, Cholowski, Biega, and Ehn. Larkin: His job: 1C. What he's actually capable of: 2C. Therefore he sucks at his job and needs to be demoted as soon as we have someone better who we can put on top of him. Zadina: What we needed and I wanted out of a #3 ranked #6 drafted player: Elite scoring winger. What he actually is: 2nd line winger. Therefore I'm butthurt about this pick and why Holland didn't ignore the hype and go with a Dman like Hughes. Cholwoski: For a player that's already played 85 games in the NHL, I can barely stand to watch him play with the Griffins. He's sloppy, dumb, panicky, and bad defensively. Maybe the organization thought he would survive trial by fire like Hronek did? But he didn't, and I expect more from a 1st round Dman who's been given this much playing time already. I think he should be sunk into the AHL till something changes with him, and that's understandably sucky and disappointing at this point. Biega: His job: 7D. What he's actually capable of: 7D. Therefore I have no problems with this guy. He busts is butt every play and that's about all you can want or should expect from a 7D. Ehn: His job: 4C. What he's actually capable of: 4C. Therefore I have no problems with this guy. He's strong defensively and makes smart decisions and that's about all you can want or should expect from a 4C. I also think this player has the potential to be a 3rd line shutdown guy at some point, which would be nice.

Ask yourself this: Is Chicago really gonna choose Crawford over Lehner? Lehner: 2.83 GAA, 0.923 sv%, turns 29 in July Crawford: 2.91 GAA, 0.912 sv%, turns 36 in December If Crawford is demanding to be a #1 somewhere it won't be with Chicago next year. Stan Bowman isn't dumb enough to choose the aging goalie with worse numbers to be his starter. Like Markstrom, I totally view Lehner as being basically off the table already. He'll likely get paid by Chicago like he wants. His play deserves it like he says. Greiss, Halak, Khudobin, or Crawford could be short term solutions for us, but all 3 will be 34/35 when we sign them, and then we will just be hunting for another goalie the next season. That's a carousel we don't need to start spinning. We need a legit starter, not a 1 year backup fill-in. Younger options: Holtby, Talbot, Dell, Francouz Holtby: His numbers have really gone down the pooper, I have no interest in risking term on him. Talbot: At 33 he's dangerously close to being over the hill already and has never been a great starter anyway. Dell: This guy piques my interest. At 30 he's never had a chance to be a legit starter despite having some respectable numbers. He had one down season last year, but has bounced back again to his former self this year. Can this guy handle a full work load is my only question. Francouz: I have serious interest in this guy. A 30 year old undrafted former KHLer, he only has 22 NHL games played, but he's sitting on respectable numbers at 2.42 GAA and 0.925 sv%. Colorado can afford to keep him if they want is the only trouble, so it could be another Lehner situation where he's already off the market. Despite this they've played Grubauer more than him despite Grubes having worse numbers and they have Grubauer locked up for next year already. I'm hoping this guy makes it to the market.

I have a nephew who is a douchebag, so I'd appreciate it if you'd stop using that word. It is very offensive to me. This stretch by Bernier should be exploited by Yzerman in a trade. He should be sent to any team needing a backup for whatever we can get for him. Remember all the "hopefully we can move Howard at TDL for something" talk this summer and earlier in the season? Welp, Howie has no value right now, and Bernier is in that boat now. Move him now while his numbers are good and unload that salary as well. This guy will NEVER be a legit #1 here or anywhere. Then this summer we re-sign Howie to a 1x1 contract and sign a 30 year old Pavel Francouz to a 3x3. Francouz Howard Pickard Larsson Fulcher
