Dylan Larkin's comments on ASG Last Man In voting...

Well firing and trading are certainly not the same thing. What you gave you that impression? Firing would be more equivalent to a buyout or contract termination. IDK I would say he's having a sucky season -

Yeah but obesity is highly concentrated in the American south. Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama specifically. Remove those yokels and I bet its pretty much equal. We eat the same crap. The legend of Eric Comrie continues to grow. This is like Yzerman's version of Hossa v. Franzen. How's he gonna survive this terrible mistake? "I dont give a s*** if you keep with my other conversations, but please keep up with my other conversations" Ha Imagine me having an opinion of Larkin independent of some convo you had with Mackel. Truly a novel idea. Would you say his year has been "sucky" offensively? I disagree. Howard is having a down year and will certainly bounce back. So please stop with the over the top negativity. Thank you. -

I mean but what changed between this year and last that Larkin is having such a dramatic decline in scoring? He still played great D last year too. Vanek, Nyquist, and Kronwall are gone. Fabbri, Filppula, Zadina, and Nemeth are in. Bertuzzi, Mantha, and Hronek are better. Nielsen, Howard, Green, and AA are worse. The only real thing I can point to is the leadership looks worse? -

I somewhat disagree. Larkin has had his Bertuzzi/Mantha/Fabbri to play with. The scoring should be there for a player of his talent level with the experience he already has. I think the teams confidence was crushed early and Larkin is drowning. Not a good sign. I'd honestly be for an Alfredsson type signing this offseason just to take some of leadership burden off of him -

Oh right. Those crappy wingers he's stuck with. The same wingers he had last year that helped him to 73 pts and 32 goals. The same wingers who are even better now than they were last year. Yes very valid. 1C's are point getters. 2C's are shutdown men. Larkin is a shutdown man. If A = B, and B = C... You seem to be under the false impression that I want to trade Larkin? The analogy was purely to demonstrate why under-performing employees in bad companies absolutely do and should get high levels of scrutiny. And that increases directly with role responsibility. Larkin is not an inexperienced youth anymore. He's played 4+ full seasons and scored at high levels. He's giving indicators to Yzerman that he needs to be demoted to 2C. But my best guess is Yzerman won't be able to stick another high level center on top of him for some time, so he will definitely have his chance to bounce back yet here. Sure, I could see him hitting 60. Those stats are about ice time though, and suggest that even if he does hit 60 pts his scoring per 60 minutes of play would still be really bad. That's super concerning. Agreed that Zbergs and Datsyuks situations we're entirely different. Different teams in terms of leadership and skill level. Different draft pedigrees. Different eras of NHL hockey. The truly unfair part for Larkin that I feel bad about is he started on this team with Zberg as a leader, and now that leadership insulation bottom fell out, and he exists in a leadership vacuum. Kinda sucks for him and seems like he was not completely ready for it. -

Well I guess I'm glad we still have him. I am jonesing for an Askarov though. We need SOMETHING in net. Still really skeptical that YZerman will be able to land one of the big FA netminders with this roster. -

I imagine the true leader in the lockeroom is Glendening right now which is why he got the A. Rest of the team is young or career below average boring pros. Mike Green is a hipster doofus. Howard's fat. Dekseyser is always injured. Helm is boring. Abby is washed up. Glendog appears to be a model professional, but has zero charisma. This is the year we sorta needed an Alfredsson, uncle Todd, or Otter fersure. I definitely agree there. Yzerman may have underestimated how much character our lockerroom truly lacks when he first joined. -

Average labor hours worked as of 2016 Canada: 1703 USA: 1783 Correct me if I'm wrong, but 1783 is higher than 1703, no? My math is no so good cause dumb American Pat Nagle in GR: 7 GP, 2.32 GAA, 0.914 sv% Seems pretty decent to me. And less than a month ago you agreed with me... What changed? Remind me why it is my responsibility to keep up with conversations between you and Mackel again? So we can confirm he sucks this season? Howard is just having a down year. What? Goalies aren't allowed to have down years? 1C's score points. A lot more on average than Larkin is scoring. Guess he's more of a 2C in a 1C's role this season. You really didn't get the analogy at all did you lol? What kinda sucks is that Zadina hasn't played all that much with Rasmussen yet and built that chemistry. After this TDL I see Rasmussen probably joining the team again, and I think we desperately need him to become a 2/3C ASAP. Let the Tuzzi/Larkin/Mantha line remain the same, and try to get a Fabbri/Ras/Zadina line going. I just want AA gone at this point. He still has RFA control and teams will pay for that. If we can't fine help at center soon I fear Detroit is going to have to go hunting for one AGAIN in UFA. After Weiss/Nielsen/Fil I'm super gun shy about that at this point. I definitely think the best thing for Zadina is to play on the top line with Larkin and Bertuzzi right now though. I don't often agree with sticking a rookie who hasn't exactly earned it there and probably isn't ready for it. But the way he plays I think it's prolly best for him. It's tough those cause he's getting sheltered minutes right now and playing with Larkin and Bertuzzi means a huge defensive responsibility that I don't think he's ready for. It's all a s***ty paradox really. -

https://www.mlive.com/redwings/2020/01/red-wings-goaltending-issues-muddled-by-jonathan-bernier-injury.html Sorta agree with Mlives presentation and the Wings players take here. This team as a 5 man unit doesn't not manage the puck well. It's basically a nightmare for our goalies and the team in general. Why is Bernier out again though? He's "sick" again? I'm sorta getting suspicious of why this guy is always "sick" or mysteriously strained/injured every time it's his time to start. Not to get all conspiratorial, but I would not at all be surprised if this guys agent told him to intentionally play as few games as possible for this years team. Protect your numbers so you can move on and get a job somewhere else next year. Honestly, I would tell him that if I was his agent. Playing for the Red Wings right now is a goalie career killing move. -
First off, why? Second off, Gudas really isn't much of a goon. He's a crappy version of Kronwall who will actually fights IF he needs to. He averages 2-3 fights a season. I don't really consider that a goon. Last year Bertuzzi and Mantha each had two fights themselves.

Precisely. And when a department head performs badly, they dont get a pass because "well at least they're still better than the janitor." Everyone has a role and the expectations that come with it. If we consider Larkin's role 1C, then yes he is failing right now. -

To add to these stats For scoring per 60 minutes of 5v5 play for players who have played more than 15 games, Larkin is tied for #234 in the league That's REALLY bad. Who's scoring more with their icetime than Larkin? Alex Iafallo, Justin Dowling, Joel Farabee, Alexander Texiere, Sam Lafferty, Andrew Mangiapane, Carter Verhaeghe, the list goes on and on and on and onnnnnn of guys ive basically never even heard of. Larkin has been great defensively, and I don't wanna take that from him at all, but this fanbase should be a lot more panicked about this player. Zetterberg and Datsyuk basically never had a season like this. Not even when they were older. -

I've always had somewhat of a hard on for Kassian. I like grinder types that can fit into a top6 when needed. Good example of a player who overcame bad off ice problems too. Doesn't always feel like it, but those guys can be great role models of what not to do and how to fix it for younger guys. I saw someone making this point: Are these not the exact same style of hits Raffi Torres used to level on people? Taking a bunch of strides and leveling someone behind the goal-line? Torres would get suspended every time for those but the league looks the other way on Tkachuk cause he's not a "goon". I'm not saying the league should suspend Tkachuk. I just want some consistency there. I think the league had it out for Torres really. Which is therefore racism because he's Mexican... -

The point I was trying to make is that Canadians are lazy and they suck Either way, I was drunk when I posted that Zadina stuff (doesn't count) You're projecting hard right now. I don't even know what you're talking about with Bergeron and Staal. Let me fill you in on the conversationyou're having: Larkin is a crappy 1/2C right now, which sucks, and yes he deserves blame for sucking this year. Look Mom I didn't lose track! Who called him a "borderline 2C/3C" lol? Here's a sound bite: "Larkin is a crack riddled hobo". Save that one and use it against me later. It's a gimme. But we're talking about expectations, and by that standard he's having a bad year. Call Ehn and Howard "sucky", but you'll be called out every time for saying our goalie and PK guy "sucks"... Again, it's dumb. -

You're again strawmanning and steering the conversation into the weeds. Plz stop, it's just a waste of time for both of us if we're not staying on topic. I sincerely hope Larkin figures his crap out and bounces back. But he's making a serious case for Yzerman to draft a center this year so he can be moved to 2C. If you have any real excuse as to why he's having a down year I'd love to hear it, but it sounds like you're content to just be okay with Larkin's play no matter what. Yeah he was a 1C last year. No one is questioning that. This year year however he's one of the worst 1C's in the league. That's a serious issue, and his wingers you keep citing haven't changed from last year to this. In fact his wingers have gotten better this year. Again, that makes the issue even more glaring. 23 year old former ppg 1C's with 300+ NHL games played should not be "heating up" in January. Which is why I'm starting to dig into his off ice behavior. Enjoying his time away from the rink a little too much would explain a lot. THE dumbest thing huh? I'll metaphor this with business. If my company is healthy, profits where they need to be, and growth steady, I don't care too much if one of my sales guys is having a down year. We figure out what went wrong with his accounts and try to correct it for next season. If the company is failing, profits are down, and growth stagnating. I start firing people. Especially the guys at the top who are supposed to be my main drivers. This is business 101, but apparently it's the dumbest thing ever to you? -

Canadians get as early as the 18th off for Christmas? Not sure if I'm impressed or the opposite Changing the argument to age/experience is literally a strawman. Why do expectations matter? You're joking right? If Bertuzzi suddenly only scores 20 pts next season he would have fell way short of what we expect of him production-wise. Pretty basic concept. Yeah 35 year old players tend to slow down. You seem to have insider info that he's retiring shortly thou. Whose rear did you pull that one out of? We're only allowed to call players sucky if you approve apparently. Howard and Ehn: YES Anyone else: NO Maybe, and here's a wild thought, I'll call whomever I want sucky -

I mean you said it at 9:47 AM on a Wednesday... You're strawmanning again Expectations at the beginning of this year were much higher for Larkin than for Bertuzzi or Fabbri. If you can't grasp that we're not gonna make any forward progress here. Yeah yeah, but you wanted to ditch him for Mrazek and now you wanna ditch him for an AHLer, sure. It's all so tiresome. You are. You're policing language. I have no doubt if I wrote a gushing review about Zadina or Larkin or whomever you would smash that like button. But if I say any of them suck, it's all "Well CRL you really ought not be saying that" But then if I said Howard sucks you'd be all for it lol. It's blatant hypocrisy. Well if I was trying to be liked I wouldn't be ChrisReeve'sLegs I just don't know what everyone was expecting. So many people calling for the tank over the years, and now that we are in the s*** and it sucks and its awful you expect no complaints? I don't have much patience for a bad team. Sue me I guess.
