The kids already went thru the Development Camp in June/July and they'll participate in the Prospect Tournament the week before the Training Camp. It's more like 2 weeks altogether over the summer for them, then preseason games. They don't really need training camp to be any longer. As for the vets, they're already on the roster, plus they'll get some preseason time as well. Training Camp is more like pre-season prep for them.

There will be a contender with a goalie need. Howard may not be the only one available, but he will be on an expiring contract (rental), he's a proven, veteran starter, and when healthy, is solid. I don't think a 2nd is reaching. He definitely will get a better return than a depth forward.
