Tatar traded to Golden Knights for 2018 1st, 2019 2nd & 2021 3rd

That's cuz he needs Nyquist. Euro Twins 2.0. I'll take another 1st from VGK to make that happen. No argument here. -
Should The Wings Re-Sign Mike Green?
Neomaxizoomdweebie replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
It depends. Is he fully recovered from his injury and healthy to start the season? Did we miss out on Dahlin? Is he willing to sign no more than a 2 year deal at 5 per? Is he willing to be traded in year 2 for a 1st or 2nd round return? Is there no one in the system ready for a top 4 role? If the answer to all of these questions is yes, than I do it without hesitation. Otherwise I might have to pass. -
Yeah. I thought you were being cheeky. And I'm not sure what Carlson is. I have a feeling that he's a low end top pair/ high end #3 who benefits from playing on good team. He'll get a huge payday in free agency and I don't know that we'll ever get our money's worth while he's on this roster. That would be my concern. Except they would want Dahlin to get Karlsson.
-
To answer your question: this past year, perhaps none. But he has 2 years left and Cholowski, Hronek, Hicketts, and 18 1st rounder will be up by then. Kronner, Ouellet, Jensen, Witkowski will all be gone by then. Hope that clears things up from my POV.

Nah. She's a Caps fan. Plus I was using a shared work computer with an internet filter, so I don't know why I was getting those ads. Couldn't download her "body of work" if I tried. Although she did threaten to streak at a Nationals game if her tweet hit a certain number once. If she would be willing to do that for a Caps Cup, it would just give me more reason to root for them. Lots of other weird ads on here tho too. I can assure you, I have never shopped for a pair of pants like this! -

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I hope not. If you can land a player like that, you do it. Rebuild or not, if we can afford him and he wants to sign here - do it. As far as Vanek goes, I mean, we could do worse. He would be like the forward equivalent of signing Daley. At least it would give us all something more to debate. -
I am going to disagree with you here. I don't think he was ready to start the season. Maybe to start next season tho. And even if he was on the roster instead of Daley, that would have pushed one of Kronwall, Jensen, Ouellet or Hicketts into full time top 4 duty. Kronwall no longer has the health to do it, and the others are young 3rd pairing guys that would not benefit by being thrown into that kind of situation. And whether that's a good thing or bad, this team would have been far worse. I do think he will be on the roster one way or another. I think Ouellet will be the odd man out and would not be surprised to lose him on waivers. Pretty much. I also can see Daley kind of stepping in and taking Kronwall's place in the locker room when he retires.

Actually Lefty, I think you should be flattered. For someone to go to that much trouble just to punk you is kind of a compliment in itself, wouldn't you say? BTW, why is this website trying to get me to date Arab women? -
Don't get me wrong, I think a Nashville/Winnipeg conference championship would be great from a hockey perspective. I just don't think for a minute that the league doesn't want NYR, Boston, Chicago, LA, Philly, Detroit in the finals every year.

Pardon my ignorance, but how could this tragedy possibly be turned into a political debate? What a shame if some heartless demagogue turned this into an agenda. -

Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

Yeah, this is like that time when Johnny Depp wanted out of his 21 Jumpstreet contract, but couldn't on account that he would have been taken to court for breach of contract. Finally, after season 4, Stephen J. Cannell let him out of his final year of it. This is exactly like that. I still hate Johnny Depp to this day for killing Tom Hanson. -
Perspective is key here. When Daley was signed, Kronwall had been nursing a bad knee for years. He missed training camp due to back issues. There was no guarantee that he would even be on the roster this year. Green was on the last year of his contract and was a good trade candidate. No guarantee he was coming back after this year. DeKeyser had just come off of his worst season statistically. Ericsson was playing well below his contract again coming into this past season. So if we hadn't signed Daley, we could have potentially gone into the season with Kronwall on LTIR, DD and Ericsson having another bad season (You don't think having TD paired with E and putting less responsibility on DD's shoulders had anything to do with them both having better years? I do.) Mike Green, who would have been traded if healthy leaving another hole on D, Ouellet, Jensen, and Sproul. Welcome to Diarrhea on Ice. Plus, none of the kids were ready. This is exactly the scenario where you sign a "stop-gap" defenseman. To fill holes made by older players leaving or retiring and filling out the roster until the next generation is ready. If there was a situation where there was even one kid being forced to stay in the minors during even one year of his contract, then i would say it was a bad signing. It wasn't. Again. Even rebuilding teams need to develop a winning culture if they want to have any chance of becoming relevant again. It creates a better environment for younger players to develop within and makes a team more attractive to free agents.

Jordan was a Sportscenter regular long before the Bulls were winning championships. If you don't think Jordan had anything to do with growing the NBA, particularly in the Southeast (where he played College ball): Miami, Charlotte, Orlando; and the Midwest (where he was drafted): Minnesota; than I don't know what to tell you. We'll have to agree to disagree. As I said before, it started with Bird and Magic in the early to mid 80's. They played in parts of the country with high populations, therefore an increase in ratings. Jordan carried the torch from the 80's into the 90's (expansion to Vancouver and Toronto) and beyond, and grew the sport between the coasts. He also had a little something to do with the Bobcats (Hornets now) as well. I'm not saying that Jordan = NBA Messiah, I am just saying that he was a contributing factor, and deserves some credit for growing the sport in both number of franchises and viewership, although not to the extent of a 23 retirement across the league. I believe the same thing about Gretzky. He deserves credit for helping to grow the league, I am not denying that. He contributed for sure. Gretzky perhaps moreso than others. I just think that some give him way too much credit, and that retiring his number was way overboard. McDavid does not equal McJesus, and neither did Gretzky. -

Way to be "Glass Half Full". -
I would agree with this if any of these were true: 1. Daley was signed in favor of a MUCH younger 2nd pair defenseman that was available in free agency. 2. Signing Daley created a long jam that prevented a young, developing dman who was ready for full time NHL duty from making the roster. 3. Daley was overpaid and did not play up to his contract. 4. Daley had little or no playoff experience or mentoring abilities or leadership skills. Since none of these were true, I would say that Daley would be a "good Fit" on just about any team, including this one. Just because the team is "rebuilding" doesn't mean that you don't sign contributory veterans to fill out your roster. First: Irrelevant. If we don't have any NHL ready kids to add to the blueline, what's difference does it make how many veterans make up the defense? Second: Hicketts was not ready for full time NHL duty yet, he's a lesser player than Daley and plays a different style. He's also a 3rd pairing guy, so if anyone is keeping him off the roster, its Ouellet and/or Jensen; or putting Wit on D instead of playing F, not Daley. Third: Russo and Lashoff are not NHL caliber defenseman. Putting them on the roster full time would basically be announcing to every young player coming up that we're not committed to winning. Pretty hard to instill a winning attitude in a young player when management isn't also committed to it. I agree with the rest of this. This guy gets it.

Considering the Leafs did it to us (Babcock) and NJ (Lamoriello) you would think they would already know this. "Don't let other teams do to us what we did to other teams." - Babcock. Hypocrites. That's like a burglar installing a surveillance system on his own house.

Aside from Dahlin, I don't think any of those other high end prospect dmen will be ready for the NHL next season. Hronek and Cholowski are both probably at least a year away. Kronwall will probably be retired and Ouellet will probably be gone by the end of next season. So there should be room for them then. Daley is off the books the year after that to make room for another kid. Hicketts is really the only one i could see on the roster next year. He's NHL ready at this point, although in a reduced role. If Green is signed though, I don't see how there's room for him. -

some of you guys are going to be disappointed when the defense next year is exactly the same as this year. Unless we draft Dahlin, or Green can't play, I don't see anyone new on the blueline next year. -
Fair enough. But even rebuilding teams have to sign free agents. Bringing in someone like Daley was a good move IMO.
