Even better. Although Cleary was a scorer in juniors IIRC, Bertuzzi more of a grit guy. Cleary had the skill to generate offense at the NHL level. I don't know that Bert's style will translate to that in the NHL, but I hope you're right.

I love how this thread made a seamless transition from 2012 to 2018. I am hoping Bert becomes a cheaper version of Abby. As in same skill and ability at a more reasonable price.

Speaking of "Sweet Caroline," Neil Diamond has recently stopped performing due to his battle with Parkinson's Disease. May we dedicate this GDT to the man who has made so many ladies scream for so many years. -

Nooooo. I'm not being dragged into another flame war LOL. -
Those are beauties. The only problem I see is that the first one has a totem on it which is a sacred object among native tribes of the NW. Seattle is the snowflake capitol of the world, so I am sure it will be seen as offensive: Not by American Indians, but by the Social Justice Warriors who love to be offended for everyone else.

They aren't mutually exclusive. I was a fan of both, would have preferred to keep both. But as we all know it didn't work out that way. -
His cap hit is 5.3 his actual salary is 4.25. I don't know how the cap hit works out if salary is retained. Anyone else know? I thought the same way to. But at this point if there aren't good enough offers to trade either one, than it might be best to keep both for one more year going into next season. Mrazek would have to be qualified at 4 mil, which is an overpayment for sure. And yes 10 mil is a lot of cap/salary for goaltending, but this team should be rebuilding. There's no need to be spending in free agency this summer. As long as the RFAs are all signed under the cap, then I am okay with keeping both now and figuring out who to keep and who to trade next season.

No, but Franzen v. Hossa was discussed ad nauseum for years afterward in here. It finally subsided with the LTIRetirement of Franzen a couple of seasons ago. I know this because I visited here regularly (as I do other Wings/hockey sites) for years before signing up. -

I don't think that its because ur criticism wasn't warranted at times. I think it was more that you always seemed to hold Franzen to an unrealistic standard by always comparing him to Hossa based on your belief that Franzen was chosen over him. They were 2 entirely different players and comparing them based on contracts or performance was unfair to Franzen. -
Mike Fisher coming out of retirement to rejoin Predators. Someone's trying to pull a Jiri Slegr.

So we shouldn't worry about getting the biggest return on assets? OK. Let's just trade everyone away with the first offer that comes along. That's the smart way to rebuild. This team is years away from being a contender. A rebuild takes time and careful planning. Holding onto assets just a little longer in order to get maximum value back is how you do that. Even with the "overpriced garbage" on this team, you still try to get the biggest return you can, even if you have to wait. This team is not good now, nor will they be next year. Trading Howard now, at the TDL, over the summer or next season doesn't change that. But trading Howard at the right time and getting the most back does affect the rebuild. The more you get back, the more to rebuild with. I don't see why that's funny or difficult to comprehend.

Ask Leftwinger. Yeah but he has a hockey name like Turgeon, Bertuzzi, Holmstrom, or Li(n)dstrom. Kenny wants him. -

Chelios has sold his restaurant interests and bought into the Greek yogurt market. You can now find "Cheli's Chobani" in the refrigerated food section of your local supermarket. -
Which is one more reason to trade him next season. More potential trade partners. Plus he'll be in the last year of his deal which will open up even more. The smart move for the team is to trade your assets when you'll get the best return. Trading the better, proven goalie now for fewer assets just to overpay the unproven goalie with worse numbers makes zero sense to me. That said, I want what's best for the team. If Holland gets an offer he cant refuse, then trade Howard.
-
Howards cap hit is 5.3 but his actual salary next season is 4.25 I believe. So if you're a team without cap issues, that would make his contract more palatable. Is still think he'd get a better return next year. I also don't think I'd keep Mrazek over Howard. He's not worth 4 mil and if he reaches free agency, he's a goner. Doesn't make sense.

There's always that guy that's drops in the first round like Chychryn or Mantha. Don't know who its going to be, but that's who you take. -
IDK. I would take it I guess, but it seems light to me. I feel like if a team's getting both players there should be a 3rd piece like a 2019 pick or a prospect.
