Like I said, everything has value. You can buy bags of s*** at Home Improvement stores. Even s*** has value. Comrie had low value. Saary had little value. You can trade things of little value for other things of little value. AHL caliber dmen are traded all the time, for similar value (late round picks, other depth players, etc). He could have been thrown in in another trade. Even Saarajarvi was worth more than a few days from a depth goalie. I never argued that he had significant value. He doesnt. I just dont like trading away anything with value for less than I get back. A dollars worth of manure is still worth more than 75 cents worth of dirt. And IMO, that's what happened here. I just dont think the return was worth the price. I supported the Perlini and Fabbri trades. And I supported this one until I realized that we were probably going to lose Comrie on waivers anyway.

1. Yzerman does need picks. When does a rebuilding team NOT need picks? That's counterintuitive. 2. He could have promoted from within to fill the VERY short term need for a goalie. 3. I fail to see how a few games from a depth goalie benefits the team more than a draft pick.

Except Saarijarvi wasnt chicken bones. Even depth AHL defenseman have some value. He could have been traded for a late round pick, which would have been more useful to a rebuilding team than an AHL goalie for a few days. You couldnt have acquired Comrie with "chicken bones from lunch". He obviously had value which is why SY got something in return for him.

Krupp played like 2 games in Detroit. Seriously tho. Krupp was a solid dman when he was in Colorado. Would be disappointed if Seider doesnt become better than Krupp, but would love to have a couple of Uwes on this team going forward. Seider could become the best Western European defenseman ever.

Because he's due a pay raise. He has a history of holding out. And it appears last year was the anomaly, not the norm. That said, I dont trade him at the TDL. I wait until after the season after bringing up some of the kids to see what we have at F going forward and who we get in the draft.

Sorry, but there really aren't any pending UFAs on this team that anyone will really want. Green, Daley, and Howard will garner 0 interest. And the return for AA wouldnt be worth it.

I dont really see why linemates are relevant. Doesnt really effect how AA plays anyway.

Hockey is an expensive sport to play. And Yes, poverty hits the black community harder than it does the white community. Nothing too radical about that. It would stand to reason then that finances would probably be a factor in determining what sports are more popular to certain socio-economic groups. The NHL invests a lot of money into its "Hockey is for Everyone" initiative. A program I strongly support. A large focus has been in growing the sport in the inner city. Why? Because these are the kids who can least afford the cost of playing hockey. Guess what the demographics of the inner city are? Largely non-white. Sorry if reality offends you. And, I was referring to soccer on a global scale. All u need is a ball to play. Even those in the poorest countries play it. Guess what? Most of the world is poor. Stands to reason they would play the sports that dont require the cost of equipment. Cheap sport + poor people = popular sport.

Actually, soccer is the most diverse sport. Not surprising, because its literally the cheapest to play. And the NBA has exactly 0 women players. So much for diversity. Hockey is expensive. Equipment is expensive. You cant play it outdoors unless its winter time in a cold climate. Ice time indoors is expensive. The only ones who care about diversity in the NHL arent watching it anyway. Anyone who won't watch the NHL because it's "too white" is just as discriminatory as someone who won't watch the NBA because it's "too black".
