Bobby Ryan arrested for public intox at Nashville airport. Stole from the gift shop, then ditched the stolen items and went to the airport bar. When police caught up to him he was so drunk he didnt know the date time or where he was and couldnt stand on his own. Not being prosecuted for the theft.

Ryan was signed by the Wings after completing NHL rehab for alcoholism.

How much you wanna bet he relapsed during his time in Detroit hence why he wasnt re-signed by Detroit or any other team.

Ryan was invited to TC last summer on a PTO and did well. He didn't get signed because Raymond exceeded expectations and earned a roster spot in the top 6.

They had this guy from minute one. This is the reason Ranges signed Trocheck. According to TSN guys, Copp told NYR right away he was going to Detroit. PLUS, TSN felt that not only did we get the better term (5 yrs vs. 7 yrs) we also got the better player. This was a great kick off to what turned out to be a HUGE day for Detroit!

Not so sure about Copp being the better player (I preferred Trochek), but 5 year deal Copp definitely beats 7 year deal Trochek. Rangers will be buying out that contract by 2027.

It doesnt offend me I just find it funny when people act as if they personally scout these players. You worry about his offensive potential? Based on what? the athletic articles/rankings? Craig Button? I dont know bout you but I put more stock in SY rather then those schlubs.

You clearly dont remember Larkins scouting profile in his draft year. I think Larks may be one of the best comps for Kasper out there. MK has a much higher ceiling then JV.

I have a life, a job, a family, and a home. I don't have time to scout Kaspar or any other players. I rely on analysts for that. And if a lot of them are consistently saying the same things about a player, then I have concerns. I don't know why that bothers you, but whatever.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Edvinsson looks at the World Juniors in August. If that kid is as dominant as he looked a year ago, and has a few weeks of competitive hockey before training camp, then I think he makes the big club. But just like SY said in his presser, Edvinsson looks bigger and thicker. Check out his chest and shoulders, he's a big dude:

I think he makes it. And that might not even be the best thing for him. A part of me wants to see him stay in GR and develop his shot (which is the only weak part of his game). The D-corps will look like this:

    Chiarot-Seider

    Edvinsson-Hronek

    Maatta-Lindstrom

    Hagg (Oesterle waived)

We'll be a Wild Card contender (even if we don't quite make it in).

Edit: Low key favorite part of the Edvinsson interview is when Art Regner asked if he's a big as Elmer Sodorblom, Edvinsson replies "He's taller, and bigger...he's a Mountain". F*ck yes.

I was under the impression that Edvinsson is skipping the World Juniors to focus on making the roster.

How original. Which article did you read that from? I side with Yzerman saying that Kasper has underrated skill the same thing he said about Seider after all the pundits questioned his offensive skill.

Kasper is a great skater with elite hockey iq and compete all things Yzerman covets. Marco will be elite just like Moritz.

Yeah. There was concern from a lot of analysts about his offensive potential. Sorry if that offends you.

Some folks never learn. Yzerman got exactly who he wanted. Watch Kasper going #1 in a redraft in a few seasons just like Seider.

He was an Yzerman type pick. Like Seider, Kaspar is a guy SY saw a lot more in than that others team didn't. He has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt, but there were other guys I liked more. I have cautious optimism for Kaspar. As I do with every other pick.

Little off topic here, but I must address this situation...

Since he signed with us for 4 years and  his ancestry hailing from 'The Boot' - he must be christened with a nickname.

I'm thinking Benny 'Good Times'  Chiarot.

Please continue this thread with nickname suggestions.

    Grazie.

    Chiarot-gun

Commentators: "He got both barrels of the Chiarot-gun."

    Crowd: "You got Chiarot-gunned."

Deal was a little salty, but even if he falls down to the 3rd pair before it's up, I am ok with that. It would mean 2 kids have stepped up into the top 4.

Y'know you could just say you never seen him play......

Soderblom is a very good net front player has great hands in tight. He also drives the net and goes to the hard areas with regularity. With added strength and continued development he could be Franzen on steroids. His floor is 3w ceiling is 1w.

Y'know you could just say you never seen him play in the SHL...

Franzen is not Holmstrom. I never said Soderblom wasn't a Franzen. I said the comparisons to Holmstrom are inaccurate. And they are.

I also never said his "ceiling" is 3rd liner. I said I "suspect he will play 3rd line RW". Which he most certainly will when he makes the roster if and until he progresses into the top 6.

You know who else has doubts about Soderblom reaching top 6 level? Max Bultman. An actual professional journalist who scouts the Red Wings and their prospects for a living, who has actually met Soderblom and watched him play. My comments came from points that he made in the video. But he's never watched him play, right? I will take his analysis over yours, thanks.

Know what else he mentions? That Soderblom is used on the perimeter off wing on the PP in Frolunda. Not a net front guy.

I get it its a long video but heres a time stamp to save you time -> 6:22 Just watch a minute or so from that point and tell us again how hes not a net front guy. Continue watching and tell us hes a perimeter player.

btw what the heck is a hockey forum wannabe? lol

Y'know you could just say you never watched the WHOLE video....

Impressive. You found one cherry picked example of him playing net front for Team Sweden. Congratulations. If you had bothered to watch the rest of the video, you would see that his role in Frolunda is different. Every single goal he scores in the video is on the rush, a one timer, or puckhandling thru the offensive zone. Couldn't find one goal scored in the paint. Saw a lot of goals scored from the circles and the slot, tho. But you're the expert, right. I must be blind.

Soderblom is a shooter. He has good hands. Is always moving. Has good stickhandling skills. Sticking him in front of the net would be a waste of his talent.

And NITF is a perfect example of a hockey forum wannabe.

I really think Yzerman will trade up to 3 or 4 and grab Jiricek.

That would be a mistake I think. You already have 2 studs on D. Giving up assets to trade up and grab another one, when you have a gaping hole at 2C, doesnt make sense to me. Even if SY goes BPA at 8, and its a dman, at least he isnt wasting assets to trade up for more of what he already has.

  10. After Wright, it really is a toss up. After Yzerman's drafting success with Seider and Edvinsson, I think other teams ahead of us are going to take D. Cooley isnt likely to be available at 8, but I am hoping Lambert or Savoie are. I consider Geekie more of a consolation prize.

Watch the video before you post smart ass comments. I will take what actual hockey experts same about him over a hockey forum wannabe.
