C’mon, it’s pretty evident that he like his players a certain way. It’s defense first. And second. I’m not saying he ruined any of those players careers but playing for Babs is a tough deal and I do believe one or two of them could have reach a higher ceiling playing for, let’s say, Boudreau. The rumblings about Babcocks preferences and player usage started a long time in Toronto too.

I never was a Babcock hater but a couple of those guys showed promise and I have to wonder if he wasn’t trying to make players into something they were not. You have to let young players play to their strength and at the same time try to trim the deficiencies down. Imagine if they wouldn’t have let Yzerman be the type of offensive player he was when he was young. Let the kids be the kind of players they are and when they are mature enough you mold them to the players you need them to be.

Just came to my attention that Marc Bergevin drafted a overaged russian player this year who would have been a UFA after the draft. The man knows what he wants.

It's easy to see why you would wanna vote for option nr 2 here with Hughes great season at Michigan and the promise he showed at his short NHL stint last season. But I think we have a great offensive RHD prospect in Hronek so I don't mourn that we didn't have the chance to pick him very much. Still have big hopes for Zadina too.

I think the idea is that if a player files for arbitration and gets rewarded with contract the club can't afford the club gets a second buy-out window to be cap complient . Not sure when the window opens.

Just for the record: I have no problems with the Pickard signing. He's solid and had some good numbers in his early NHL career. Last year wasn't any good but, I mean, he was a goalie for the flyers and coyotes. Still somewhat young too.

Easy way to get some cap space, I guess. They got 8 m left for Trouba and Deangelo with only 12 forwards on the roster.

Their offense didn't need any help. I'm expectning Nylander being back to business next season aswell. Defense was the flaw last season and I am not sure Dubas fixed that. The loss of Kadri(despite his flaws and sometimes boneheaded actions) will be felt. Kerfoot is not as good. And I don't think they upgraded the d-corps. Hot take: Gardiner is equally as good as Barrie and Ceci is just as bad as Zaitsev. Dubas should get credit for getting 50% off on Barrie though. That's just mystifying. It will all come down to if Dubas can get Marner signed long term or not. a 5-year contract will really put pressure on the Laffs to win the cup soon. Like right now.

Yeah I don't think you get a 1st. The Prize here is the rights to Gusev. A good contract dump to attach to Gusev could be Clarkson. Pretty sure I read somewhere that Yzerman said everyone's healthy.
