I can imagine the narrative if we won the lottery. ”Yzermans rebuild were going nowhere until he lucked into getting a generational talent”. Well, atleast nobody can say that when we win the cup in 2027. -

The Red Wings have dropped 8 total slots in the lottery during their rebuild. If they move up 8 slots they get Connor Bedard. Tonight is the night, boys. Tonight is when this team gets aligned with the universe. -

True, but I also expect Yzerman to look for a Marc Staal-type defenseman in free agency now. On top of filling that RHD2 hole. Assuming both Hägg and Oesterle are goners. Which they should be.

Hence why I don't think its likely he'll get there. But man, if he gets his skating together and just adds a little animalism(size takes care of the rest) to his game he is gonna be a weapon.

I don't think its likely he's gonna reach it but Soderbloms ceiling is the highest among forwards imo because of his size. Mazur is definitely gonna be a legit NHL'er.

We keep developing Raymond into a first line winger. And then we clone Ras again but only this time max his goalscoring talent and make him shoot righthanded. Finding a 1C is a pickle, though. You honestly believe these two are still on the roster 24-25? Colorado won last year with Erik Johnson as 2RHD. I bet we can find someone like him in FA.

And you bring up examples that was drafted outside of the first round and took years to develop into what they are today. The Red Wings are right now doing exactly what they have to do to find those. I get the frustration over us not being as far in the rebuild as we should be but thats on Holland. And crying and bitching about Holland is getting very old.

I think Raymond still got it in him to be a legit goalscoring-winger. But we need more. Yzerman should go all-in on goalscorers at this draft. If they play center too that would be awesome. Screw BPA. Sometimes you gotta go for it. If Stephen goes up there and calls out Reinbachers name he's basically a meme at this point.
