I would argue the opposite. They looked more like their mediocre selves in those games than they did all playoffs leading up to that. The Habs overcame the Golden Knights against all odds. Thats it. Be happy about it. Thats not padding. Hes been doing the Jimmy Howard diet and workout program.

After winning the ”Conference Finals” against VGK the Habs were done. They had no more gas in the tank. Or I should say; Price had no more gas in the tank. They should feel proud though, it was no small feat for a team like that to beat Vegas and make the SCF. There’s a bigger probability of VGK being victorious if that was a 9-game series than Habs beating Tampa in 9. Regular season performances support that.

Credit where credit is due. Bergevin is great with trades. He got balls, goes for what he wants and considering how much he wheels and deals, its impressive that the ratio between trades/signings that work and those that dont works in his favor. The league would be better off with more GMs like him. Stevie is pretty ballsy too but not unhinged like Marc
